Whenever I watch these kind of videos of Madrid/Barca players I always think how bad the defending seems in the Spanish League.

In fairness the PL is pretty shite as well in that respect...

Defending is shite world wide. Its like they moulded the game to change it to a taste more attuned to the Americans. High scores mean everything there. Its a lost art form really.

I thought as much. Dont think Mata will ever be our 10. In a 4-3-3 you dont actually have a 10 right?? So how are we going to sacrifice someone obviously suited to that system and have a 10 in behind a 9...I'm confused!

My guess is that LvG is going to play Memphis as a sort of AM/10 in the midfield 3, he'll be closer to Rooney than he'll be to the 2 CM's as Rooney's hold up play is poor. Mata will continue to awkwardly play as a RWF where he keeps losing shape.

What position did Mata play in before his transfer to United? The season before he joined United he played his best football in behind the striker in the No.10 role. LVG has been playing 4-2-3-1 in the pre-season so far, he doesnt have the pace to be a winger that we require and has even said on many occasions that he prefers to play behind the striker as a CAM.

Would be nice to get this wrapped up and bring some Positivity back to the club

Like being able to take a corner... I still dont get that. I mean its a dead ball situation and pro's cant land it on a blade of grass. I personally think its a disgrace but then Tiger can't use a driver so I'm obviously expecting too much!

Oh I thought Benitez also used him out wide right...

Well I think Pedro will come in and play there and Mata will be a v expensive sub but thats just my humble opinion.

Is there anything official indicating that we are actually in for Pedro?

I know what you mean man. They look like Strikers defending at times..

I'd say the Prem has much better defenders than La liga has & are way more efficient in booting the ball into the stands too..

It's depressing when you see that footballers that have seemingly been around for ages are actually younger than you...

Dont mention the war Woodzy - i'm turning 40 in October ffs.. :)

I think we need an actual striker. Pedro is an excellent player and an upgrade on what we've got in wide positions but we can't go into a season with a horribly inconsistent Rooney as our only proper striking option.

The only thing ever official regarding transfers is when they are confirmed... Everything else is just what reportors/journos hear from their contacts close to the club or in the club, it's never official.

We're going to use Chicharito and Adnan as cover and buy Kane next Summer I reckon.

We won't sign one good enough that will be willing play 2nd fiddle to our captain. We will need goals from the wings, and Pedro will help with that.

Thanks. How often do we actually announce we want a player? Not often I reckon..

Except for when the prospective seller publicly rejects an offer.

And how often does that happen? Fabregas with Moyes was one of the very few times I remember that. Many other times, these reported rejected bids turn out to be false anyway.

Xavi's pass for Pedro's goal and if that free kick routine came off
Watching that again, after ages, think VDS could have done better for Messi's goal. Though you would have found a way eventually, but you did not dominate us like you did in 09, which was f*cking hopeless after the first 10 minutes. But this game, maybe, who knows, and CL is never short of surprises, like the complete bullshit that went down an year after this game.

We should have done better in 09.

2011 we had no chance Giggs and Carrick vs Xavi, Inestia and Busquets. Now that was stupidity.

Oh I thought Benitez also used him out wide right...
“I think I can play in the three positions behind the striker. I played on the left when I arrived at Chelsea, this season I have played on the right and last season, which was probably the best season of my career, I played behind the striker. But it doesn't matter as long as I play.”

Thats a quote from Mata when he joined United, had to check just to make sure I wasnt giving false information lol

I remember him saying that in one of his first United interviews.

Are we buying him or not? It has been 2 weeks since we announced any signings.

I think it's very much the other way around. We could have done better in 09 but we were completely and utterly played off the park at Wembley in 2011.

Xavi Hernandez, ladies and gentlemen. Pedro made a nice run there but he just took the absolute piss with that through ball. There'll never be another.

Point is many of you need to stop repeating the same old drivel about the quality of play/players being the beneficiary of inferior defenses/leagues. We've all seen the success of Primera & Spanish talent/teams.

Truth is you could make a highlight video of every match Barcelona has played in CL against Premiership clubs over the past decade where they've dominated the play & ball

:confused:What the hell? Maybe a bit less of generalizing would be good. Tell that to whoever 'repeating the old drivel'. Thanks.

True, what you say is true if we look at the teams/form/season before the final we did have a much better season in 09, thrashed arsenal comfortably in the semis and were league champions yet again setting defensive records, while Barca entered the final with suspensions to their defense.

However looking at how the two games eventually panned out, I thought the 11 game was more open. It was level at HT for starters and even if Barca had a superior season than us and reached the final without the luxury of facing schalke in the semis, they basically gave us a better chance to win that game than they did in 09, which was absolutely one sided 11th minute onwards. It was a bigger humiliation imo, we were trailing and not able to get a sniff of the ball let alone do anything with it.

I like him as a player but, Christ....

Worst. Transfer saga. Ever!

"Oh United are signing Pedro. In other news, Tim Sherwood opened a door with his foot. Let's go live to that gimp, who got a dildo in the ear. Dildo guy, what can you tell us?"

United will have more Spanish players than Barcelona soon!
