Multiple European championship winner, world cup winner and winner of couple of champions' leagues... that's all. but I guess you have Young and Valencia.

David Villa is basically that too. This isn't 2011 though.

Pedro is 27 whereas Villa is 33.

Doesnt make any sense. Villa is 33 and well past it. Pedro is 27 and just about entering his peak.

Age isn't my point. The fact that both players are a shadow of what they once were is what I'm saying. Accomplishments (especially some of the Spain ones which Pedro wasn't overly important in helping) a few years are aren't overly indicative of his current quality.

He's still a good player don't get me wrong, but he's not as good as he was a few years ago.

He only won the Euros once and was only a substitute that year. And he 5 appearances and 3 starts in their World Cup win.

Fair point. I just wanted to point out that he is still has much to contribute to a team and he is better than some of the current United players.

11 goals 9 assists last season in 2200 mins on pitch or goals/assist every 110 mins.

The year before that he had 19 goals and 13 assists. 103 mins per goal/assist.

His time was limited due to having Suarez, Neymar and Messi in his position, 3 of the best 5 attackers in the world right now.

as for the bolded, how did you figure? In the 2010 WC run he played in all games after the group stage and was on the first team sheet for the SF and F - the biggest games.

Let's be honest Pedro is not the caliber of player we need to improve this squad.
Its this simple sometimes. We already have depay and have Lingard coming through, no need to over indulge for no reason.

Lingard will never make it at United, he doesn't have the ability to make it. Lingard won't even get close to Pedro's level.

Lingard over Pedro? Really? Maybe Lingard has potential but has he even shown even half the kind of quality that Pedro has shown?

Madness.

Pedro would be above Januzaj in the pecking order.

Many of our youths are far away from the quality of even a 'squad player' like Pedro.

Pedro does the right things for the team and while his presence may lessen the playing time for guys like Januzaj, but he is perfect for a possession team, a serial winner and his experience can only be good for the development of the youngsters rather than having only Young and Valencia to look up to.

Some of the comments I'm seeing about Pedro have my head full of fcuk. He's a quality player, why would anyone object to signing him for the bargain that he is potentially going for is baffling. Bloody baffling. Maybe van Gaal sees him working better in his system than Di Maria. It's certainly looking that way.

My friends who support Barcelona do not want him to leave. He's seen as their 4th most important attacking player in the current team. Yes he's a "squad player", but helps maintain their level when one of that front three doesn't play. Comparatively, they weren't that fussed when Fabregas left.

Yep.

PedRamos coming in would immediately improve us, again.

I'd still like us to keep ADM though.

Yes because Lingard is so much better than Pedro. Pedro will fight it out with Mata for the right wing. Depay will with Young for the left. Lingard is no way close to any of the 4 mentioned. This will be his last season at United. He doesnt have what it takes to make it here.

I'd also add that Lingard is 22-23 I think, so if he was going to make it, you'd think he would have made it by now.

Lingard is destined for Leicester or Burnley etc. Sad but true

Has there ever been a signing in the last few years that was met with 100% delight? Even Bastian F'N Schweinsteiger had a load of people crying into their beer when they heard we signed him. I remember there was a split when we signed Van Persie of all people. I'm glad the internet wasnt around in 1992 when we signed Eric.

Never has and probably never will be. I said it before, we could sign Messi next summer and I guarantee some people will find away to be negative about it.

'If we want to challenge Barca, we should be aiming to get Neymar. Someone whos young and has the world in front of him. not Messi, who's on the way down and only coming here to get his last big contract'

What the feck, are people comparing Pedro to Jesse Lingard ffs? The guy played like 5 minutes in the premier league and he's soon to be 23. He's blatantly not cut out for this level.

I said before that I really dislike the guy but its down to his mannerisms on the pitch, constantly diving bitching and moaning about every other decision. However his actual ability is really really good, if ADM goes he'll immediately be our most talented winger and the most experienced at the highest level. Still I would rather not sign the twat dont want to have to cheer for him.

With Neymar, Leo & Suarez all other attackers are reduced to 4th most important

Pedro is a really high quality player who is very consistent. Bags of pace and plenty of end product. Real team player. Would be very excited to see him at United. Suits us better than Di Maria to be honest. ADM would've been great under Fergie but he does not strike me as a Van Gaal player at all. He's far too risky and wasteful in possession, something which is an essential part of his flair game. Not sure why we signed him at all, unless it was to play as part of a midfield 3.

I reckon he will be a sensational signing if we were to get him, he knows how to keep the ball, can pass the ball brilliantly and doesnt show boat. Hes won everything with Barcelona and played in big games and has the right mentality to fit straight into the team. Even if ADM stays we should still take him, the alternative is having Valencia crossing the ball in and trying to break defenders shins.

Let's make it simple, if he can do a job as part of front attack trio for arguably the most successful all-conquering Barca side ever, he surely can do a job for us too.

Besides he is very effective and can score goals from the wings, there are very few options available out there. I think he can guarantee us 15-20 goals a season from the flank.

Don't bother posting negative things about Pedro, the Caf has already made up it's mind.

eh no - 60 goals in 200 matches for Barcelona. 51 internationals 15 goals for Spain.....

and you don't want him ?

Bale has good stats for last season, stats aren't the be all and end all. Everyone who watches Barcelona knows he's regressed over the last few years, it's hardly controversial to suggest that. Yes, he's no longer first choice but he'd already been reduced to a squad player long before Neymar and Suárez joined.

On the Spain accomplishments part...I said he wasn't important in some of them. Not all.

I can't believe what I'm reading, if we do end up with Pedro I can very well see him do a Sanchez and become a big player for us. We all thought we got the better deal between Di Maria and Sanchez, look how that turned out. This might just turn into a solid signing and for 20-25m its a bargain.

Sanchez was in the same boat, he's done well at arsenal, I dont think there's anything to say Pedro can't do the same. He is extremely talented and an upgrade to what we have already got

Not really. Alexis went the opposite way to Pedro - he took a couple of seasons to get going, looking like he was going to end a flop but the end of his penultimate season was excellent and he had a good final season under Martino in a more direct style of play.

He was sold over Pedro because a)he wanted more minutes and b) he would get more money. The better player is easily Alexis.

I'm not saying which player is better but do you honestly believe that there is no chance that he can come to utd and not regain top form like Sanchez has done?
