I think the board should demand more, somewhere in the region of 40m for him. I think we have enough cover for him in Sandro and Munir, but need to sell at proper price. 30m is too cheap.

By all accounts €30m is a gentlemans agreement between yourselves and Pedro. Be a dickish move to go back on it.

This is not how release clauses work

Nothing's written on paper, it's a verbel agreement between board and Pedro. And it's not like it's an extortion. 40m for player of his calibre is perfectly justifiable. Compare costs to Sterling or ADM.

If you ever sell Messi, just sell him for 350 rather then you know? 300 million.

Going back on a verbal agreement isn't, in fact, a verbal contract is a valid contract, so unless your club officials are willing to lie about making that agreement, they have to sell at 30m.

30m was agreed though.

With player or United? If it's with player, no reason why the board can't move the goal posts? United could easily pay and it's not a price which looks bad for player like him. Sterling went for 62m, so if the board asks for 40m (obviously after consulting with Pedro) I don't see why anyone should have a problem. The board needs to sell it's stars at proper rates. If 62m for Sterling or 75m for ADM, then 40m for Pedro doesn't sound like an extortion at all. All I am saying is that board should sell at proper market price.

Let's just say it's not in the player's interest, the less the buying club has to pay, the more the player will be paid.

Jamie Feckface - sorry, Jackson - has written an article stating that Pedro is rethinking his plan to come here. It's a typical Jamie Jackson article as there are no quotes or proof to back up his claim, and 75% of the shit he's written is completely unrelated to what he's claiming.

Being a journalist must be really easy.

Going by this summer, the english journalists don't seem to have inside info.. I don't remember exactly, but was't it him who tweeted we had no interest in Shaw or herrera the day we signed him..

My personal favourite was that we hadn't agreed a deal with Di Maria yet and he was still in Spain, only for videos of him driving into Carrington and an actual announcement hours later that same day.

Done deal in that case.

now i bet pedro wanted to play his swan songs with barcelona before he eventually leaves

If you do that, then the other players in the future won't accept this gentleman agreements and will insist in clauses.

i can't believe a barcelona supporter could tempt to dishonor their gentlemen agreement with their home grown player who has acted so professionally through out all these years. this is not just classless but simply a disgrace

Bit over the top. No one knows the terms of this 'gentlemens agreement' and there's probably a reason the buy out clause was set at a different value.

Fans wanting fair value for their players isn't a shocker just go to the De Gea thread and see for yourself.

the figures have been widely reported and up to this stage they could barely wrong especially their technical director given out the same figure. so this is nonsense to argue that there is something here we won't know;

another nonsense to make a comparison to the ddg case here. BS i'm sure we will honor it if we ever have a gentlemen agreement with ddg. i will be very upset if my club not doing it

Yeah it was very speculative (typical Jamie Jackson.) However, if there's any truth to it, then I say we just move on. The last thing we need is another overly-sensitive Di Maria type.

I'm not sure what to make of this really. On the one hand I'm not convinced he's the man to transform our attack. I think he was in the right place at the right time with Barca. On the other hand, it's too late in the day to get anyone else and we absolutely need someone else out wide.

I can't help but feel we keep backing ourselves into corners with transfers. The De Gea situation is similar. We've left ourselves with little options but to sell him. Why take a stance to keep him if we're not going to play him and try to make him look the bad guy. This is the epitome of how not to handle a transfer.

If there's any truth in this I think lvg would be supported in his decision to act the way he has with the gk situation.

We can do without a primadona upstart throwing his weight around, feck him I say. Hopefully we have a plan B. We do have a plan B don't we!?

maybe pedro himself wants to finish his very few last games left with barca before he can say goodbye to his childhood club. that is something i can respect if that is the case

I've just read the article. What utter crap. He's just invented this story and included old quotes from the last press release.

He will play after the TW closes. Club's stance was all right,we named the price and Madrid wont pay.

Are their any specific quote from Pedro that justify that article statement?

I did not bother to read it. If so, that is pretty damning towards our ability to get some other players in the future. He could be no different than Moyes in attracting players to United.

Depay joined because of him, Schweinsteiger joined because of him etc etc...

Of course that there aren't.

I have a feeling that we are trying for someone else before getting him or he is waiting around to see what his role at Barca would be.

Otherwise dont get the hold up. Either way I am not that flustered about this signing.
