where will Pedro go?

The bulk of media reports I have read imply that that United haven't even made a bid yet, which is a bit confusing. I'm discounting the links to City and Chelsea that have been in the Catalan press, those are clearly designed to flush United out. Still, what are we waiting for? £22 million is not a lot for a player of Pedro's pedigree. Is the club just trying to delay it until deadline day to generate excitement?
The bid isn't necessarily the starting point for negotiations, so not having made a bid doesn't mean we're sitting around waiting and doing nothing.

Where did he say that?

Erm... yes it would.:wenger:

Over all the other points we dropped? If we lose only one game all year, then we will win the league for sure because then we will end up with what, 111 points? In that case the loss to villa won't even matter. However if we lose about 4 games(one of which is villa) and draw 8 games we would end up with 92 points and even if you lose the league by 2 points, can you blame it on the villa loss alone over the other losses/2 points dropped?

bite Enrique if he suggests it

Point is, Messi has the middle spot, Neymar & Suarez have the flanks. He won't get a starting berth despite whatever form he shows with those 3. They have several other players that can play the inside forward position too such as Munir, Rafinha, Iniesta & Turan will be eligible in a few months!

No, nobody has said that. Exactly equal to all other losses.

But it's an unarguable fact that in this scenario, had we won the Villa game we would have won the league. And if we believe that Pedro's presence would have won us the Villa game, then the original argument is perfectly valid.

I'm not sure why you keep going back to this idea, it's utterly irrelevant as it would never happen.

Again, no. You can blame them all equally. If any sinlge one of them hadn't happened, we'd have won the league.

I'm honestly not sure what part of this you don't get.

Imagine if we lost it on goal difference. I reckon we would have scored 3 with Pedro last weekend. If we had signed Otomendi we would have got 4. Sort it out Woody.

I think this is the most likely. Whatever "agreement" is in place might not detail exactly how the €30m must be paid. Barca presumably want a lump sum, while United will want a more conventionally structured fee. So there will be all sorts of legal jiggery pokery going on behind the scenes to find out exactly what is needed to trigger the release clause he agreed with the club.

I think this was already a problem when Bayern wanted Martinez. They not only had to pay the money for the release clause but also the taxes so clubs try to avoid the release clause and make a different deal. In the end Barca won't budge on it though, they have no need to.

To make it clear, when Pedro signed an extension, it has been reported that his buyout clause was the same, meaning it's still 150m. The 30m are just a verbal agreement between Pedro and Barcelona.

Ah okay, first time I'm hearing this. Well then it shouldn't be too much of a problem? But hey the transfer deadline is still a long way of, so we just have to be patient I guess.

The only way this would be relevant would be if we were talking about paying 150m euros, which is the actual clause. This is a gentlemans agreement, so open to negotiation.

EDIT: - addressed above.

Also....... Rumour has it they don't want instalments the money has to be upfront!! I.e if he turns out shit he still cost us £22m whilst we probably end up selling him for £4.4m. This is probably the stumbling block.

If we buy Pedro and Kane, what would our lineup be next season if Bale is available then? Pedro back to the bench?

I'm so sick and tired of Bale, I hope we never go for him  He'll be 28 (Edit: 27) next year. If we are to pay a premium for an attacking player, let's find a younger one. We might not even need Bale if Pedro comes and flourishes + Memphis develops nicely.

Pedro is 28?

I think some people just enjoy torturing themselves through worrying..doesn't it feel odd that whenever United are linked with a player and negotiations seem to have reached a deadlock, foreign papers especially close to that club throw around the fact that City are also interested. Happened with Pedro, Otamendi and Fabinho(Not sure how interested United where there tbh). But people still believe it.

Pedro wants game time..At city he would have to displace on of Aguero, Silva or 49 mil Sterling..I really doubt that City are even interested.

Im with you my friend. on top of the fact that I dont think Bale was is worth anywhere near the fee Madrid will want for him.

Suarez plays central, Messi plays wide right.

Its a weird transfer not to complete.

  1. The player doesn't want to be benched
  2. The club whilst not willing to sell, keep saying he can go when clause is met
  3. The clause/agreement is relatively low compared to the quality of the player
  4. I assume wages are low too
I cant believe we would haggle for 2/3 million. LVG would want him in the team ASAP to gel etc.

It seems we have taken an almighty gamble letting ADM go before we got this guy in, espcially if the rumour of PSG offering us Moura in the deal was true, if Pedro falls through which it clearly could then what?

Pedro could have already been C on the list, I just hope we have a D option lined up.

the only two explanations really, 1, we haven't 100% decided we want him, or 2, he hasnt 100% decided he wants to come, or possible a bit from column A a bit from column B.

in day dream muppet land how about a £50 million pound bid for de bruyne? pretty much the money we recouped on Di Maria..... anyway sorry ill stop day dreaming now

More likely that Barca arent 100% sure they want him to go, plus your point 2.

well barca dont have a choice if we match the clause which we havnt, so it doesnt seem to be barca holding this up, seems to be us or pedro
Again. Clause is 150m. There is a gentlemen's agreement set up at 30m. Even if we match it Barca can stop the deal and not act upon the agreement.

good Christ. This again. A mod really needs to put something in the thread title about this "release clause".
