Paulo Dybala

Dybala risk costing as much as Sanchez with his image rights, plus the reported 16 million euro agent fee.

We already bought a player like that in Sanchez.

AND we already tried the Argentinian experiment with Di Maria. One of the clubs worst failures to date. They are right to be skeptical.

Ok so you wouldnt sign another Belgian? I don't get the thought process that because one national of a certain country failed, they all will.

If Dybala signs for spurs this would surely be the moment when Woodward is publicly exposed as an incompetent negotiator. Whilst United fans have long held this view, by briefing to the press Woodward has exposed his own inadequacies to the footballing world at large and has damaged the clubs reputation.

The mishandling of player contract renewals and pisspoor transfer negotiations are now so numerous and laughable that he just surely has to go.

Whilst I dislike Woody as much as the next fan we are not privy to what goes on behind the scenes. If Dybala does move to Spurs we do not know the details, he could have stipulated to his agent only CL clubs, no-one else. Then it isnt really Woody's fault, he isnt even a starter in that race.

Seriously depressed right now Dybala to Tottenham over us is the final nail in our coffin in that we have really become the new Liverpool in fact were probably worse or certainly going to get worse. Will be lucky to finish above Everton this season

What if, due to the club not having a clear project (unwillingness to spend over £100m in a window), only Lingard-quality players want to join us? I can’t believe you would be happy watching us then.
No i wouldn't. But i really don't think the only players we could attract are Lingard level...lol

It helps that Juve are part funding his spurs salary allegedly. That could be the big difference

It depends on if you believe his wage demands were too rich for us – I don't believe that was the issue

It seems the club went cold because he didn't really want to come, which is laudable enough I suppose

As Abhinav said though, we were probably too quick to brief after Dybala's initial cold reaction and should have tried to nurture him towards finding the move attractive

It's all elementary now – we aren't doing anything more and are well short

Every transfer is a risk and many fail, not just Argentiniens/South Americans. Fred failed. Bailly failled. Depay failed.

Still we need to try again, buying nobody instead of taking risks is no option. Well it is as it seems.. sadly

At the end of the day, you don't just have one name on a pad. If the club ignores the list then Ed and the owners are to blame because you cannot put all your eggs in one basket. Now we could say maybe they back Gomes as an am? Why don't they sort out his contract? They're incompetent and tbh who knows what they're doing. They don't seem to know.

This is such silly thinking. So because one Spanish player didn't work we should never sign prime David Villa? Fernando Torres? That's basically what you are saying. Sanchez is spent. Dybala still has prime years ahead. They aren't even from the same country. Man City best ever signing is from Argentina. I hope this transfer does not happen

If they lose Eriksen for Dybala I’m not sure that improves them tbh. Spurs will miss Eriksen massively, despite how good Dybala is.

Yeah, but in this scenario it'd be Dybala and Lo Celso.

Surely Juve would only supplement wages if it was a loan? They wouldn’t do that on a permanent deal - they’d be nuts to as they have no ownership yet a cost going out?

I don’t understand why we haven’t tried to do a couple of loan deals - especially when our targets aren’t available this season?

Levy as usual is making Ed look like a complete novice....

Just want to point out that its not Manchester United that Dybala does not want to sign for. It's Juventus he does not want to leave. And the player has been extremely adamant about that. On top of that I've read several sources state that he flat out doesn't want to play in England because of big cultural differences.

In case some think that its the club that it's the problem here, which I'm convinced it isn't. Dybala was just never going to sign in the Premier League, although I was really hoping he would.
It was always known he didn't want to come to Man Utd. Now it looks like THFC may well be getting him, would that not prove that we have lost our big draw attraction to "top players"?

he is a fellow countryman and played to an international standard for them.

If he joins it's not going to be because of this. Do you think Kane would be more likely to prefer to move away because he had the chance to be managed by Nick Barmby?

That's probably difficult to do since we're not in the Champions League. Spurs had an advantage in that. Spurs also has a fellow countryman as a manager and are signing le Celso.
I'm not too fussed losing Dybala to Spurs, but not signing a creative offensive player, whoever that is, in this window is criminal

Not everyone is as tough as you  He didn't want to come here in the first place, got burgled, dropped from first team, even though he was one of our best players. Are you surprised he wanted to get the feck outta here especially when PSG's offer was on the table? I am not.
I guess its just boiled over frustration from the last 6 years, I can empathise with him I suppose; we just cant attract the best players anymore we're the new Liverpool of the 90's and 2000's absolute shambles. Well and truly shite, its deadline day and we're being linked with players like Inaki Williams for €80m from Bilbao, baffled!!

Watching him being great for fecking Spurs won’t be fun viewing, hope he ends up being a stroppy disappointment if the deal actually happens.

He's absolute class unfortunately. Poch will make him even better.

What an utterly stupid thing to say. Do you need everything spelled out to you?

Im under no illusions Dybala ever dreamt of joining Tottenham but clearly Poch can be convincing, he is a fellow countryman and played to an international standard for them. With Lamela, Foyth and now GLC coming on board I can see reasons why he would be interested.

I'm sure he'd be interested for you to be trying to do the deal in the first place, but again the same would apply to us. I know we've been quite daft with transfers but no club is going to waste loads of time agreeing a deal with another club without an indication that the player is interested. Or players in our case. If Juventus have told him he's not wanted I don't think there's really much difference between us and you. You have CL football, but United is still the bigger name, and the ambitions of the two clubs is the same.

The other thing that makes this weird is the Lukaku situation. If Juventus knew you were able to sign Dybala and are really that desperate for Lukaku to be willing to swap Dybala for him, they'd be back in for Lukaku now. They'd just ask for enough money from you to match inter's bid, knowing they already have thr personal tens agreed from previously.

It just doesn't make any sense on the face of it unless it isn't as simple as it appears.

There is something very odd about this transfer. I still can't get my head around why Juventus are off-loading him - they could try to force other players out of the club, so why are they forcing out Dybala?

Juve helping Tottenham out with wages? are they taking the piss

Sarri doesn't seem to want him and they are in trouble with FFP.

This just proves to me the 100m budget was true, and we're skint.

If Juve are that desperate to subsidise wages then surely we could get a better deal if we REALLY wanted him.

Glazers are pathetic.

Yes that's probably accurate, We've only got till 5pm and it looks like nothing significant will be happening or a last minute over priced panic buy!

Is the debt becoming a problem for them to service? Has it really not decreased since they took over?

he doesn't wanna come here, it's the only explanation.
