Paulo Dybala

2016-17: Games 48, Goals 19

2017-18: Games 46, Goals 26

1 goal in every 4 games this season. Not really the clinical attacker we need.

6 goals and 2 assists in 11 games as a centre forward though. Ronaldo has squeezed him out of his favourite position.

Look at his record in 17/18 in Serie A - 26(7) games and 22 goals and 5 assists.

Merry-go-round of Dybala-Lukaku-Icardi then between United-Inter and Juve! I am in for this muppetry

I think we should be wary of signing such players. The chances of him flopping at United are really high as it's a very unorganized team and he is a bit of a luxury player.

We need players who are on the up and will fit well into our system. Dybala is a player who will do well in a team like PSG where there are already many world class players to support him.

Surely that’s what we want to become? We can’t turn down that level of player on the basis we don’t have enough others. Pogba is already suffering here on the basis that we don’t have enough (or any) others on his level.

Would be great for us if we can get a playing system going, a high class footballer and decent finisher.

He will not work in PL. Let's stop with these Latin players, they all have a love for Spanish clubs and hot weather. Won't be a lasting signing. Besides, his competitive edge (close control and dribbling in tight areas) would be nullified with cheeky elbows to his back in PL.

I wish the team down the road took that approach. We might be a lot closer to them if they had Mark Noble instead of David Silva.

Probably the best time to sign him given the bad season and lower price

Yes please. Swaps rarely happen and are normally just fan and journalist muppetry.

But a swap of Lukaku-Icardi and bringing in Dybala would be superb for our attack. Rashford, Icardi, Dybala, Martial, Lingard and Chong would be 10 times more potent than having Lukaku and Sanchez stinking the place up as our backups.

Having 2 new players coming in, but with only 1 transfer fee (Dybala) would look good on the books too for the seasons budget. It just makes too much sense

No thanks. Lost all trust in these types of signings. I want players with something to prove and not just us contributing to their pension fund or helping them to release their own brand of clothing, aftershave etc....

If he fits in tactically then we should sign him. Not if we need to shoehorn him into right wing. I think he is a natural second striker so... Oles problem to solve I support. If Pogba and Lukaku left he could play with a new striker

I actually meant 3 way movements. There were reports of meeting between Juve and Inter regarding Icardi. Icardi looks nailed on to move anyway so Inter need a striker and can do with Lukaku. Till this stage it is very much possible. Then it depends if Dybala would like to join United when they are in Europa.

No white text?

Not what we need. Can work in a Pep type system as a false 9 probably, not whatever we'll likely use (which is hopefully not a diamond long term).

Then we continue to just target 19 year olds and become Arsenal once and for all. Half of them won’t make it, and the half that do will want to leave by their mid-twenties when they look around and see nothing but promising young players and now matured but previously failed youngsters surrounding them.

Read what he posted. He never said never sign anyone or just solely youth, just not go down the galacticos route. It’s failed us under LVG and Jose.

We do need players of that quality but also those who want to play here and build this club again. They can be rich nothing wrong with that but work for the club and respect the fans

I'd rather we moved for players on the way up. Felix, Fernandes etc.

Dybala is a good player and all, but why do I get the feeling he'll go the same way as Di Maria?

Because you plan to burgle his home?

Well he cannot possibly know Dybala’s motives. He said he ‘wants players with something to prove’, and also made some joke about coming to collect a pension - so there is an inference that he wants young players who have yet to make their names. With Dybala himself being only 25 - I would imagine he means even younger than that.

If fans are so down, or feel that United are so ‘ugly’ that they don’t want to sign top players in their prime ‘because they might not really love is for who we are’ or something - then we either target young players and become a stepping stone, or just average older players who have been weighed and measured and not wanted at other top clubs.

This is exactly the kind of stupid signing we have kept making over these last 6 years. Do we even have scouts?

My bad. I did think that's what you meant after wrote it. I think Dybala would be a player that we targeted and with Lukaku making comments about wanting to play in Italy one day it makes sense to attempt on Icardi. He's a player that would suit the Ole system better than Lukaku.

On Dybala, who else would be in for him? He would be wrong for most teams a bit like Coutinho is for Barca currently. Some have called Dybala a luxury player but that's maybe a bit harsh on him. He does need other players of a certain profile to play with though. Maybe Rashford is that player?

I strongly believe that our attack is just as bad as our defence these days. What we need to do is, get our attack sorted first then defence.

Liverpool are challenging for the title and are in champions league semis with top heavy attack and strong defense.

All top teams have front three that puts fear into opposition. We need to get Dybala, Felix and Sancho. In these three, we would have amazing young stars which we would be able to sign for 260m. Infact if we swap Dybala with Lukaku+20m, it will result in us signing Sancho (100m), Felix (80m) and Dybala (Lukaku +20) for 200m only. Thus we can go on and sign the likes of Brandt (25m), Rabiot (free), Bruno (30m), Muenier (25m) and Alderweirald (25m).

All these players could be signed for approx 300m. Excluding sales that is. I hope we adopt this kind of strategy. We would actually be favourites for the league with this side.

Muenier Alderweirald Lindelof Shaw
Herrera/Bruno Rabiot Pogba/Brandt
Sancho Dybala Felix

What other 25 year old 3 time Serie A team of the year players have we signed? Pogba is about the only similar signing and he has doubled his value since joining even if he does force a move. And then Di Maria who never actually wanted to join in the first place. So yes, if Dybala shows a huge reluctance to wanting to join then we shouldn't buy him indeed.

The talent is definitely there with this guy. Played more as a RW this season. He'd definitely improve things, he's very dynamic, creative and shows good movement in the box i.e. his goal against us this season.

But he's not the "attack the space" type player most would want. Not sure what the plan is if we sign him, do we also sign a RW? Or does this move Rashford out wide or is Dybala himself the RW signing.

I like him but he's a signing that raises more questions than answers.

All for it if Lukaku is going in the other direction and gets him off our books.
Will be a massive upgrade on technical quality

Must say,as much as I'm indifferent about a potential move for Dybala,we still have no idea in how Ole will set-up his team next season.
Dybala could either be the perfect fit or just another (typical) confusing marquee signing.
