Can't wait to see him play again but we really shouldn't have to resort to bringing a 37 year old out of retirement.
He was off the pace last season so only god knows what he will be like now. I give him no more than 70 mins game time before he sees a red card.
It was clear at the beginning of the season.Doesn't look so good for Gibson.
Unbelievable! I am delighted I get to see my favourite player again when I never thought I would.
This transcends anything current and present about the club, this is a chance for some of us to see something again that we thought as gone.
I'm shocked really. Surely he won't be match fit? I think it is just a last resort. I doubt we will see him playing. But Ferguson seriously has so little faith in the reserve players that he has to bring back a retired Paul Scholes, who, let's be honest, looked out of his depth most of last season.
Is this desperation?

The boss offered me a chance to plug my book in return for a few sub appearances

Maybe he's been planning on coming back for weeks, and has been training. He can't be match fit of course, but he could be as close as a player coming back from any other spell out.
First thought I had and think many might have had besides the "Scholes!!!". But think him coming back was not just because of what he can bring on the pitch but it also feels like a dressing room signing for players to learn from and keep calm in tough situations. Don't think he'll play that many games to be honest.

From Twitter :
Sir Alex reveals that Scholes came to see him and asked to come back a few weeks ago. Interesting.
Dont know why people are complaining - at least it's recognition that something needs to be done.
So give him a game against the likes of Blackburn, not fecking City away... its crazy.

Depends entirely on injuries to be honest - he'd certainly have played a lot in the last few weeks.
Seems clear SAF isn't prepared to play Pogba/Morrison in the PL this season, and Cleverley needs protection - he'll get games I reckon.
Also think it's great for Rooney who always looked happy playing alongside him.
No sticking plasters then...
As much as I love Scholes, its a bit of a joke.
