He's an actual genius. It's such a pleasure watching him, it's like watching an animal in the wild just being amazing at being an otter or whatever it was born to be.

At some point this season he will get sent off and cost us a game. But even that will be enjoyable in its way.

It always is... him swinging and missing after Xabi Alonso, or his handball spike against Zenit, or any of the other nonsense situations that have seen him sent off are semi-fondly remembered :)

And weirdly I tend to take that animal view of footy in general... Like a defender casually carrying out the ball with strikers close to him, it's like swimming among sharks because any time you're vulnerably situated they'll snap at the defender's heels... Or players spacing out and positioning themselves well, sometimes it's like looking at a flock of birds, or a school of fish. At any rate I take your point, Scholes is definitely as comfortable being out there on the pitch as he is walking up a flight of stairs or forming a sentence (unless it's to a reporter or a group of people).

Us Noggies always compared Ronaldo to a children's figure, namely the Hippo "Flode", but right you are... I should've gotten it. Weirdly I didn't automatically think unevolved ape when I saw Keown, although I always used to.

Scholes returning has been better than I expected.

He really looks like he hasn't been away. Didn't expect him to catch up so easily fitness wise.

Er...who's more comfortable than under pressure than Paul Scholes? I can't think of many this side of the Pyrenees.

Last season he did get in a bit of a mess a few times dallying on the ball and losing posession when pressured hard. Just because hes better than most doesnt mean that he cant lose the ball when pressed hard. My point was more that there isnt really a point to pressing him anyway, because with our midfield today there will always be players available for a pass and no team can keep ut that kind of pressure for prolonged periods against a pairing of Carrick / Scholes.

It's weird really, it's almost as if not playing for those 7 months has made him a better player again. Brilliant of late.

Although I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that he's playing alongside a Carrick in fine form. They've always been great together.

They know if they commit themselves against Scholes they'll likely be out the game, either he'll dummy them and walk into sspace or he'll pass round them. They're scared of committing, and rightly so.

His legs went about three years ago, it just doesn't really matter

I would like him to find his long-range shooting again

He's 38 Plech, I'd be pressing the feck out of him and Carrick and try to knock them out of their rhythm. I think our midfield can be bypassed quite easily but we're keeping the ball so well it doesn't really matter at the moment.

Shame he wasn't available already vs Blackburn. We wouldn't have lost that game with him on the pitch. Incredible player.

Shame he didnt come back for the Basel game. Great to see him back and I am not surprised he plays so well - he is just a ridiculously good footballer

Delighted to be able to see him play again. His pass for the first penalty shouldn't be underestimated. Easy to see the pass on our screens but Park was behind him. It's so simple but that vision to know he was there, you can't teach that.

I always remind myself just how privileged we are to be able to see Scholes and Giggs still playing at such a high level. We're watching history here lads. They'll be talked about in 70 odd years time the way we talk about Sir Stanley Matthews today.

ran the game against Liverpool

superb when he came on again today pulling the strings in the second half

surely need to persuade him to keep playing as backup or an impact sub with his ability

legend

It's thoroughly baffling just how fecking good he has been since coming back and it's also not like that he has played well at easy places. He has been magnificent at Anfield and now Stamford Bridge. I was a little bit sceptical about the deal, but what a signing he's turning out to be.

I say we let him retire every summer and then bring him back each January. That way we solve our midfield problem by signing Paul Scholes each year.

Its scary how reliant we're becoming on him now. You can see as soon as he came on everyone started giving him the ball, hoping he could run things.

He was ok today, helped us control the game better. Thought he did the difficult thungs right but messed up the simple things

Still making extremely sloppy passes by his standard. Not sure what it is but a couple times he looked up, saw a blue shirt, and still passed it there. If Chelsea were any faster in attack, they would of broken in the midfield.

Still, he's ace and I will write that sloppiness off as rust.

Thats not us being overly reliant on him, thats just Scholes being Scholes. He would go to any team in the world and instantly be the player who makes the most passes. I Never tire of watching him make space for himself in midfield.

He is god, looks better than ever. Hope Cleverly study's him as we want the same from him in the middle. We need to get him back in the team playing along side Scholes.

He should start all our matches, without him we just seem to be missing something and when he came on he become the pivotal point of all our attacks...

just stands there and hits passes most can only hope to hit. i'd love to play wide with scholes in the middle of the park. i wonder if he drove his wife mad sitting around the house.

There is nothing in his game that will be severely effected by aging. He could play into his 40s easily unless he gets serious injury issues.

I'd have to agree with this. His role is perfect for an older player. He doesn't really have to use a lot of energy for his game. He used to in his younger days, however he has adapted his game in recent years. Some say that he'll only be back till the end of the season, but I hope that he carries on after that and keeps on playing for us for the next couple of years.

I need to apologise to the Scholesy. Never thought he would be as good as he's been since coming back. I thought it was just desperation on United's part to bring him back.

He plays better in the last few games than he did during the second half of last season in my opinion. Remarkable.

Exactly.

That's probably why I thought it wasn't a great idea Scholesy coming back.

I need to apologise too, I was incredulous but he's the fecking man.

Definitely playing incredible.

Most unexpected really. I thought he'd struggle.

Today he should've come on a lot earlier IMO.
