Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

Today is the day he will fly back from his vacation, well as in today is his last day so he'll be back in Europe tomorrow, maybe late tomorrow. So Sunday/Monday seems the most logical conclusion for when he'll be holding up the United shirt.

Di Marzio saying that the deal will be announced in 48hrs. Lets be honest know one has a clue when this will be announced and journo's keeping spitting out bull shit.

Di Marzio is 4 out of 4 with us (Jose, Ibra, Mkhi and Pogba) so to say he spouts BS, is BS.

What do you think has been the biggest myth in this thread?

- That transfers are never announced on weekends?

- That Di Marzio said the deal will be announced within 48 hours?

- That Pogba has been on holiday for at least double the time of every other player, who played at the Euros?
Pogba is obviously not keen to play for us his due to his lack of willingness to cut his holiday short.

He never said it would be announced, that's the point. He said it would be done, and by the looks of things it was done in those 48 hours.

He's read the papers that said he wanted Madrid first, Barca second, City third and then us because nobody else could pay the money :lol::lol:

Still, he has his reasons to want to play for us. 13 million to be precise.

That's what people fail to understand, he was right, it was widely reported it was done in that time frame and everything there on was pure admin and logistics.

Was it? Because weren't they also saying as recently as yesterday that there were still details to sort out on the deal?

Is it a myth or not?

I've seen loads of chat about players who didn't play much, but no facts on where other players who were involved all the way through are right now. I believe all of these played in all 7 matches:

Hugo Lloris
Bacary Sagna
Laurent Koscielny
Patrice Evra
Blaise Matuidi
Antoine Griezmann
Dimitri Payet
Rui Patricio
Joao Mario
Cristiano Ronaldo
Nani
Ricardo Quaresma

Today's the day isn't it?

Pogba expected back for Juventus training Sunday/Monday so it should be wrapped up before.

Also it's kind of unlikely for us/Juve to announce anything on the weekend.

Balance of probability my dear Watson... The game is on!
I don't think him being expected back to Juve training will have any impact on when it's announced. If all the admin contractual bullshit isn't done before then he just won't return.

Don't forget about the Stock Exchange. People love to bring that up.

Whilst I don't want to get into a debate about who is or isn't 'world class' if we look purely at players who have actually moved this summer (i.e. there can be no debate about their availability or about their price):

Sane £37m
Gundogan £26m
Kante £36m

These three come in at a shade below £100m

Personally, I'd still rather have one Paul Pogba but just sayin'

Only one player matters and that's Evra because he plays for the same team. And he is in holiday.

Payet isn't due back until Monday according to my West Ham mates.

Evra was given the same amount of time off as Pogba from Juve

Of course it is done. Just a matter of time now till this is announced. There is no way Juve would have payed 75m for Higuain if this deal didn't go through. That's the most they have payed for a player in history.

That's where I differ from most in this thread.,we could have gone for and signed all three of those players by now. And they'd all be perfect for us. Instead we have wasted our time and probably our money too on Pogba. This displeases me.

Sané: very raw
Gundogan: will he ever get to his best form again?
Kanté: 1 very good season. Will be difficult to replicate.

Kanté I would have liked here, the others meh...

We should make him sign the damn contract before our community shield game. He might change his mind if he watches us playing like we did against everton.

And only Evra and Pogba play in Serie A. Which starts later than other leagues, right?

Having said that, nobody is forcing Pogba to stay on holiday with Evra. If he knows he is definitely playing for a PL team next season it is a little strange that he's not decided to get some training under his belt at the same time as players like Koscielny, Sagna and Lloris.

Did some actually claim he wanted City before us :nervous:

That's why football is so great - it's all about opinions and you are entitled to yours as much as me, or anyone else.

Getting those three, for example, would obviously enhance our squad greatly. I think we are in need of a superstar, a talisman, call it what you will, of Pogba proportions. I think we have been lacking this in recent years, in fact since Ronaldo left.

A pacy right winger with bags of potential, a dynamic attacking midfielder who we could nurture/rotate and lasts years player of the season in Kante. Great business by our rivals in my opinion.

Instead we've a 34 year old striker, a raw CB and a bit of a punt in Miki. And NO sign of Pogba, who I don't rate anyway.

meh this saga is boring now :boring:
It's only boring if you obsessively follow it.

It will happen when it happens. In the meantime, let's look forward to the other new players we have signed.

I am really looking forward to this season. Saying that, I was really looking forward to last season as well :nervous:

I get that logic too I really do. I just think the hype around Pogba is just.... hype.

I'd rather have him arrive properly rested and miss a few games than get here a few weeks back having barely had any break at all meaning he'll be playing almost two years without downtime.

Yep, the "Squawka" head Journalist Greg Stobart still says even now City was his first choice before us, but City wouldn't spend the money. Pretty hilarious.

All you have done there is name 3 players. ;)

Everyone has their own yard stick, mine would be a player that would be in top 5 player in each position, top 10 for midfield as 2 positions although this again would vary on system type of football playered.

Pogba for me is what we need above short passing tempo dictating players who would be more suited to possession football.

The 34 year old striker who is still a top player, in a position we desperately needed, a raw CB who has looked extremely promising and Miki, who might have been the best player in Germany last year. Just rephrasing and it changes the whole picture.

We wouldn't get those three players at those prices though would we?

Take sane at £37 million, that is for city alone. If we were in a bidding war with city for the player, that could easily be a £50 million player. The same with Kante. It is not a zero sum game.

But I keep reading on here money is no object to United?

How is Miki 'a bit of a punt' but Sane and Gundogan aren't? One is very patchy and is always angling to move on, the other one has a long-term injury. Both riskier than Miki.

Sané: very raw
Gundogan: will he ever get to his best form again? If he does he is far better than any of your midfielders. Worth the risk..
Kanté: 1 very good season. Will be difficult to replicate. It won't at all. It's clear that's his level - he's not young (as such).

Kanté I would have liked here, the others meh...
Added bold above. Your squad would have looked much better with both of them. Both would get in your current first 11..

But I keep reading on here money is no object to United?

That is not the argument though is it? The argument seems to be that those three would be a better way to spend £100 million. Reality is you would not get the three for £100 million if we were bidding against city and chelsea for them.

If the argument now is we can just pay and get what we want, then why is the fee for pogba such an issue?

Are you the Redcafe's version of Johnnowhite?
