Saw Zlatan in Greggs on Piccadilly station approach at lunch . Said it's a done deal.

But in all seriousness stop panicking. I was worried a few weeks ago but it does just seem a case of if not when. His holiday finishes on Saturday. You could be waiting until Monday for any announcement, unless a major balls up happens between now and then he is ours, he could go on record and say he is staying when asked, juventus have made no denials over the deal either. Every major news outlet is reporting that the deal will happen, his agent could have denied we are in talks but has not- he has just been trolling. It will be worth it in the end unless those corrupt gits from the Spanish capital find an illegal way to fund a deal for him whilst our negotiations are going on.

Is that sarcastic? I barely come in this thread.

Sorry, yes I was being sarcastic.

To answer your question, Pogba has been given extended holiday because he played lots of matches last season for both Juventus and France in the Euro 2016 final. I think he's back from his holidays on Wednesday.

Di Marzio clearly said on last Thursday that deal will be closed in next 48hrs.
Wait hold up, didn't he say it "Could" be sorted out. That's very different. Fairly sure Di Marzio didn't say "the deal will be closed" or even close to that, as he's said himself that he can't tell when United and Juve will sort out all the paper work and on top of that it's United who decide when the medical and announcement is, not Di Marzio.

Maybe I should explain - I know a journalist. He might be fecking around but there's good chance he'll know people. I was trying to act all cool like.

Well someone has to in this thread. I think most will appreciate you taking on the mantle!

And it looks like it has. We havent had any updates about negotiations since Friday. What people cant accept is, that a deal can be closed and we wont announce.

For example....You can go to a car dealer, negotiate a price, pay the first instalment and any other upfront costs and go home without a car because its still being built. One can then choose to announce they bought a new car to his/her friends when they got home or they can wait til it arrives to announce it - no difference cos either way they already closed the deal for the car.

 i am sorry, this is just funny.

The latest I can find from a somewhat reliable source is David Amoyal(Di Marzio's English mouthpiece) saying on a Canadian radio show that it's a done deal and just a matter of days before it's announced. That's from yesterday, and he's on from about 33 minutes into the show.

An agreement between us and a club over a different player is most likely easier to accomplish because that player doesn't have the importance and standing of Pogba. Part of the reason Juve is negotiating fiercely over this transfer is due to the marketing value of Pogba. I'm confident he's a cash cow for them and they see him as the face of the club sooner than later.

That isn't the case with somebody like Matuidi or another option. Sure, the club will demand a proper fee because they'll be losing a good footballer but it is no where near as much of a hit to them as losing the (potential) face of a club. Right now, the deal has reached financial heights that seemingly even make us think twice. That wouldn't be the case with others.

Thus, I'm confident we could seal a deal for a different player sooner and not continue this struggle over what is apparently minor details and could go on for a while.

I agree, we're at a rather late stage as it is, which is why it's all the more important to find a solution sooner rather than later.
I'm sorry but if you think we could open negotiations with a brand new player and get it sealed by next Friday (I'd surely expect Pogba to be signed before then) then think again. Besides, a club like PSG would see how desperate we are if we went for Matuidi and play us.

You're just getting impatient! Relax. Implementing Pogba even 2 weeks into the season won't be an issue.

Good find mate, just listened to it. He is 100% convinced it's done.

I'm not impatient, I was never that much for the deal anyways.

And Matuidi was just an example, bit yes, I firmly believe we could wrap up the signing of a different midfielder a week or so sooner. We won't know how long this Pogba saga takes anyways.

He was still loading then.

Never seen a transfer thread end up like this. No excitement, no news, very little doubt, just endless repetition of the same posts as we wait for him to sign. Strange and quite tedious.

Is ChaddyP permanently banned from the thread or is he back in a few days? Then he might actually be back in time for the big announcement

Never expected him to sign before the 6th. It was clear from the start of this saga, Raiola said Pogba will only focus on his holidays until the 6th of August. I don't know why someone would expect him to cut his holidays short.

Are people just posting this sort of thing to add to the claustrphobic sense of deja vu that the whole thread has descended into now?
Have barely been in here for a few days since I'm convinced it's happening. So no mate. Legitimate question.

I too am convinced it's done. But the fact that it's not been announced has me checking this thread constantly. And it's beginning to irritate me.

Yeah, same feeling here..

If adidas and United were/are looking for the best moment for an announcement from a marketing perspective they've missed it since a few days now. News are slowing down and also the excitement of the fans.

Thus, I've always been sure that nothing is agread and the media is just reporting BS to gain clicks and sell papers.

Right I have some super awesome secret insider info, hes signing today. If not today then tomorrow, and then if not tomorrow then Wednesday. Continue this pattern and by god I will maybe be proved right.
This style joke has been done to death!! Honestly I admire your efforts but aaaahhhmmmm....... Give me strength

Yes. Like a move where the end is quite obvious but the film won't finish.
We know he's coming, just get it together very with already.

Prominent French and Portugese players are still on holiday since they went all the way to the final.

Evra was also with Pogba in Vegas. Schneiderlin is back with us, probably because he didn't kick a ball at the Euro.
Surely Schneiderlin's position has to be the worst possible? He didn't kick a ball at the Euros but still had to be there. Then he doesn't even get extended holiday. Shit one, Batman.

I'm going to stake my reputation on this being resolved, either way, by September 1st. You can quote me when its done.
