Well it pushes the idea that it's all staged so I wouldn't say that :) Something organic would happen more natural. What was to stop this person posting it as soon as they got in? I think there's a lot of misdirection etc but it's all positive. Only a few people would bothered to check that. Most would assume it was today so I think it's like a slow 'kill' so to speak. This is very contrived and staged basically.

To be honest I think he took a snap with him a couple of days ago and uploaded when he was chilling on the weekend. I think if we weren't all so invested in this transfer we wouldn't think there was loads of misdirection, slow kill marketing and staged and contrived photos.

Unless of course that is why acquire me hasn't been in the thread for a couple of weeks, he's busy setting up all this holistic marketing approach.

Yeah but you can't prove that 'he was just chilling on the weekend' and decided to upload it. The misdirection etc happens because Adidas don't want to Pogba to be in the media for 2 days. It suits many people to drag it out. Juventus we know aren't stupid enough to tell people they have money, before they've had the chance to spend it. I don't see any reason for this person not uploading the picture the first day they got it. Unless there was some reason, why would someone like that want his photo in the first place?

If Juve don't announe today, they just have no regards for their own fans. It's gotta be painful and disrespectful for Juve fans to see Pogs signing shirts and merchandise of MUFC before he's even signed a contract.

But if Juve don't announce today, its a clear indication the show is being run by Adidas.

There is no reason why they would upload it first thing either? Maybe he works Monday to Friday so puts off everything to the weekend, I do the same thing. I just really doubt this is a stunt with all the pretty blatant stunts happening this isn't all that interesting or exciting.

Forgot what those reasons were. What were they again ?

Oh dear, I'll start it all off again! The main reason is I don't like him as a player. I don't think he's the 'box to box' midfielder everyone says he is. I know he's a talent but I've just never seen him really dominate a game. I don't like the way he relies on those long legs, a bit like Viera. I always would prefer a Keane type midfielder to a Viera type.

I know we are buying him with a view to him improving and that's fair enough. But I still don't like his style of midfielder. Beyond that I've issues with his attitude, his likely comittment to United, the influence his agent has and yes, I don't like his hair cuts! The last one obviously being the least important lol

Not sure where you got any of that from tbh. Didn't Fabrizio Romano say something like Juve never announce things on a weekend. So it won't happen today and tomorrow at the very least. Monday is the earliest we can hope for some sort of announcement, but if we wait for a medical to be completed, this could drag on for a fair few days after that aswell.

What's so marketable about Pogba. I keep hearing this.
You only become marketable by winning accolades and trophies
He isn't as marketable as Neymar and Messi. You can also throw in Bale, Ronaldo, Hazard, Suarez etc...
He is the 2nd most marketable athlete in the world in 2016 after Steph Curry. As recently as this March, both Nike and adidas were fighting for signature. Finally he signed a 10 year deal with adidas iirc worth around $45m. He is the third most marketable footballer in Europe after Messi and Ronaldo. Is that marketable enough for ya?

I think you're a little harsh, however, closer to the truth than a lot of fans on this thread who think he is going to be the difference in every game.

Is he a box to box player? He could be. Right now, he's better with a license to join the attack. I firmly expect Mourinho will play him exactly the same way he played Lampard and that would get the best out of him. I don't expect 4-2-3-1 - I expect a flat midfield 3 with Pogba to the left of the 3.

The fact is though we don't know. I don't understand people on twitter anyway.....I can't imagine many people freaky enough to ask for a photo - NOT to post it first thing if they're always doing the twitter thing. Waiting for the weekend just seems - like a person who wouldn't bother having a twitter account.

Which is what I expect too. He's going to be an exciting addition of course. I just don't think he warrants becoming the most expensive signing in history. And I don't think he's going to be as good as most people think. I fully expect games, big games, where he will go missing. I think that is just part of his make up.

Edit: Even though the price isn't my major gripe!

How many times have you actually watched him over the last 4 seasons? And please dont say "I've watched him enough" OR "I watch all their games".

But right now a Viera would be far superior to anyone else in the league, let alone in our squad. He was still 99% of the player Keane was and I'll be happy if Pogba gets near him.

That's part of the make up of any player under 25. In fact its the make up of every player except the big two.

Even Messi goes missing in big games. It happens even to the GOAT.

Which is why I accept that we are buying potential, that's fine. But back to my assesment of him as a so-called 'box to box' midfielder. The truth is we haven't had a world class box-to-box midfielder since Keane left. 11 year ago. Wow. 11 years ago. The idea that Pogba is going to be that player is just flawed in my opinion.

Sure but he doesn't go missing in that many. I just think Pogba goes missing too much, even if he is only 23. I don't care what anyone says about him being played out of position during the euros, his lack of impact and ability to dominate was very concerning in my view.

That's fair enough, but who is your alternative?

The way I see it is would he improve the team, and the answer is yes I think he will quite dramatically.

This is somewhat off topic, but It's not hard to fecking see why Adidas and Pogba are taking the piss out of journos/the media. 99% of them are disgraceful. The Sun claim that Ibra has paid for Pogba's transfer in shirt sales. Could not make this shit up...

"Zlatan Ibrahimovic was not only Jose Mourinho’s first signing as United boss. He was also the man to send shirt sales into the stratosphere, with £76million reportedly made in ONE WEEK.That surely means fans buying the Swedish striker’s top will pay for Pogba’s transfer fee within a fortnight – four years after the France midfielder left United on a free."

https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/foot...-record-112m-transfer-fee-within-a-fortnight/

Well, if the £76 million in one week is true, then it is also true that Zlatan shirt sales will pay for the Pogba transfer in a fortnight!

The headline is true, but true for Adidas, not for MUFC. They have been pushing the transfer all along. It just goes to show how much power all these brands have over football nowadays.

Messi has lost 3 international finals in the last few years doing absolutely fa in those matches.

And thats a reasonable perspective. The problem with me suggesting alternatives is I will have a deluge of folks on here laughing because the alternatives to Pogba are far less glamourous box-to-boxers. I'm not going to even bother with suggestions because, rightly, I'll be told there is no alternative. That doesn't make Pogba the right player for us, necessarily.

I'm genuinely interested but i'd imagine you might be thinking of unobtainable players, like Kroos, he is the only one I would outright prefer at this point.

And he has won what 4 CL finals absolutely starring? I think most would accept, those 3 international finals aside, Messi's consistency in big games is pretty outstanding. Anyway, you are kind of making another point I'd like to make. Are you actually comparing the impact Pogba will have to that of Messi? Expectations around this guy are going to be ludicrous. Absolutely ludicrous. With the fee involved people are going to expect a world beater every game. I think he'll disappoint.

Kroos was actually the one I said earlier in the thread. I'd love Veratti too. Either of those two would be my preference over Pogba.

Not at all, its messi, point i'm making is even the best go missing in the big games and messi has undoubtedly done that on many occasions.

And just to add on as we are having two separate conversations for some reason. Kroos I would prefer as well. Veratti too. But there is absolutely no scenario or amount of money we could get them for.

You keep saying Pogba goes missing in big games but what games exactly are those?

I think he's just waiting for his holiday to come to an end, all this panic and stress about the situation is wasted effort.

Every player goes missing from time to time. I'd love to see an example of a big game where Pogba has absolutely dominated. I haven't seen one and, yes, I do watch Serie A. Yes he has moments of brilliance but for a so-called box-to-box midfielder you need more than moments. You need dominance, leadership and drive over the course of 90mins. I've never seen that from Pogba.

Just put yourself in the shoes of a Juve fan for a moment, and you see your star player already signing shirts and balls of the team where he is going to next. Wouldn't you think it's disrespectful to your club? Wouldn't you be upset?

Juve could end the show right away by announcing early what everyone knows is a done deal (except its not done till its done). But then again, Adidas wants to squeeze the most awareness and clicks out of the impending deal, and Juve announcing early would ruin all that.

Just a quick off topic question: whats your opinion on Zlatan?

I think it's an exciting signing that will lift everyone but I don't have huge expectations of him. Its a bit of a luxury signing, if we get some moments of brilliance from him it will be worth it. His personality alone lifts everyone. Thats my issue with Pogba. You'll get moments from him not proper midfield general stuff. An expensive luxury!

Juventuz forum constantly mocking the way the fan with the signed shirt looks like.
A bit classless. For some reason they're pretending he's the prototype for how all Mancunians look like, despite the fact he's American and that entire forum is American.

No nor have I, my point was just that nobody dominates every game like the big two do. Pogba at the minute is more a flashes of brilliance kind of player, but so was the last player to break the transfer record. He certainly has the drive and the leadership, the dominance hasn't developed properly yet because of his age and the midfields he has been involved with. Juve's improvement over the season with him starting to understand he is now top dog though proves he can do it.

You keep saying Pogba goes missing in big games but what games exactly are those?

Well I don't think he dominated midfield for France in any game in the euros. He had a very poor CL final against Barca two years ago I think. I must confess I didn't see Juve's QF this year so can't comment. But in Serie A in big games I would argue the likes of Marchisio or even Tevez when he was there had a bigger influence than Pogba. I know you'll tell me his is young but back to my core issue with him. He's being touted as a box-to-box midfielder. We need a box-to-box midfielder. Pogba will never be that kind of player in my view.
