Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

People seem to be ignoring the Spanish media saying Madrid are out, a very reliable Spanish journo who is travelling with the team on tour confirming (most likely from the horse's mouth) that Madrid wont be going for Pogba, all of the most reliable Italian journos saying it's just the final contracts to sign before announcements, several of the biggest English journos saying it's done pending contracts and medical (Martin Samuel putting his name to a transfer piece was a big one), Juve massively splashing the cash beyond what they usually do, more reliable reports of Dybala being offered Pogba's shirt number, Pogba being the only player in the adidas video not in his team's colours (being cheekily edited into their United one another little hint), and about a million other little things all adding up to the transfer being inches away from official announcements.

Get a fecking grip you lemons.
Who is he and could you provide the tweet/article stating this please?

Literally the world disagrees with you. That's what marketability is.
Being marketable doesn't mean someone isn't a twat.

Also, English native speakers really should start a movement to stop the abuse of the word 'literally'.

So it's alright to stay in the thread for those who take all media and twitter stuff by word but nor for those who question it - sounds fair.. :wenger:

All I am (and the others who are concerned this won't happen are) saying is that we had this whole media stuff so often and for mutiple times it didn't work out.

I simply ask myself WHY would Pogba do all this instagram stuff except for adidas money? In the end he will leave at least one fan base offended (whether it'll be ours or Juventus' we'll see). This whole saga and how it's exploited by adidas is just disrespectful against the club and fan base who will miss out on Pogba.

My point is I'm not sure what you hope to achieve by constantly playing down the reports that Pogba is joining United. The majority of people will take them at face value and believe they are true. Di Marzio was 100% correct when he said Mourinho, Mkhitaryan, and Imbrahimovic would join us and any logical person would assume that he's correct this time too. The constant doom and gloom expressed by a handful of posters serves no purpose other than to annoy people, mainly because it's based on nothing but their own insecurities that come from being emotionally traumatised by Vidal/Sniejder/Thiago not signing for us. You're perfectly entitled to not believe the media, that's your prerogative, but I don't understand why you are so determined to try and convince everyone else that it might not happen.

@Quizierda Is your head buried in the sand? mine is not.
Are you flexible enough to bury your head in the sand?
I can, you can't.

I don't care if anyone tries to offend me or refers to my point of view as BS tbh..
It's always the same with the caf when it comes to transfer sagas: the news supporting a deal to happen are always taken by word and negative ones are just BS and spread by idiots.

A serious discussion as hardly realistic since you're always seen as a twat or whatever if you don't follow the mainstream. I really like the caf and the guys around but those harsh posts against te ones who question things are just unnecessary..

Pog is clearly waiting till this thread reaches 1000 pages before signing
Maybe, just maybe he's going to finish his holiday first and then do a medical and sign the documents in England!

OK Now I am fecking convinced Pogba ISN'T coming.

Just seen Pogba's instagram and I quote:

"news: we catch Pogba with his contract in Universal Studios LA amusement park"
"breaking news: Pogba undergoes medical check in Universal Studios amusement park California"

This was all posted by Paul Pogba himself. Surely if he was coming here he wouldn't troll Juventus fans like that. That is quite disrespectful to Juventus and their fans after everything they have given to him.

I think its over guys... :(
No white text?

Please can we not mention Real Madrid anymore in this thread. He isn't going there.

Really surprised that Pogba is going to United and United is spending that much on him....

Both are bad fits in my opinion and might be the biggest flop in history. I love Pogba, but Pogba +Jose I am not a fan of. In addition, the setup of the team doesn't allow Pogba to excel as well.
Seems you know exactly how Mourinho will play.

In the words of Fabrizio Romano, be quiet.

Ok, let's leave the media thing behind us since we won't come together on this point..

However, what do you think about Pogba and adidas playing with the fans of Juventus and United? I simply don't get why they are doing this. In the end one fans base will be left offended by this whole circus when Pogba wears either our or the Juventus shirt for next season. Pogba has never said a negative word about either club and respects both quite honestly. So why is he giving his name and reoutation among the fans for this primitive knockabout comedy?

It's all about brand building. Cash is king.

He is young and flashy, people like that, I can see why you'd think it makes him a twat but people like a bit of personality and he figuratively has bags of charisma.

It would be literally impossible to make that happen.

Media reports / club officials etc v your gut feelings and analysis.
Mmmmmmm....

Jose has been dreamin of Pogba since he went all out for Gerrard in his first spell as Chelsea manager. It'll be a magnificent fit, and even if he won't top the goal scoring charts, he'll be our most important match winner and the one who lifts the team in the way we've been lacking since RvP in Fergie's last season.

No pressure on the lad, of course, but that's what we're spending triple digit millions for. And Mourinho will give Pogba every license to make sure that it happens, and as a result we'll see Rooney drop out of the first choice eleven before Christmas.

I am really sorry you feel that way. But this whole saga have been a PR Circus. Even Pogba's agent is playing a part in Adidas Ads.

Don't any of you think that there is a possibility that Pogba, his agent, and his PR team is only using the "transfer saga" to boost his image rights and $$$??

Its Mino Raiola after all. The man might not have any honour. He could be using the journalist, clubs, social media just to get richer than he already is.

He is trying to anti jinx theres nothing wrong with it, if you're so sure theres no basis to any of the Madrid stuff I'm not sure why it would wind you up so much

Not really. No. Perplexing that you believe the only possible interpretation of what I said is that deep down I somehow believe he might still join Madrid. I mean someone spouting the same old vacuous nonsense over and over again with no basis whatsoever for doing couldn't be justifiably seen as ruining the discussion could it?

Obviously I'm being sarcastic. But it's annoying. Simple as that. And guess what, buddy...I ain't that only one that thinks so. :)

Now I wait with baited breath for you to hit me with the typical sanctimonious 'if you don't like just ignore it/he has a right to his opinion' rubbish.

OK Now I am fecking convinced Pogba ISN'T coming.

Just seen Pogba's instagram and I quote:

 at you thinking that something regarding Paul Pogba that's been on social media for more than 7 minutes, never mind 7 hours hasn't already been posted, discussed and disregarded in this thread.

We're like trained spies mate, I swear to god, somebody put a tweet up from Di Marzio the other day, before Di Marzio had even tweeted it himself.

Don't come in here waving around your sloppy 7 hour bullshit  ;)

It's all about brand building. Cash is king.

Don't know if this is the best way to do it though..

I mean offending millions of people who "love" you is just stupid.. His brand would be much more successful if he would just be honest and keep the fan bases from all parties on his site by either stating he's staying or honestly saying it's time to move on for him. I think no one would give him hate if he would just be honest and respectful to both fan bases as he's been for the last years - I dunno why he risks all that positive reputation to push his brand in a dubious direction.

Why is he a twat?
I'm not sure he is but he sure looks like one.

What's so marketable about Pogba. I keep hearing this.
You only become marketable by winning accolades and trophies
He isn't as marketable as Neymar and Messi. You can also throw in Bale, Ronaldo, Hazard, Suarez etc...

Adidas seem to disagree with you

Media reports / club officials etc v your gut feelings and analysis.
Mmmmmmm....

As I've said I take the statements by officials by word who are basically saying that thre's interest and negotiations are under way but there's no done/agreed deal yet.

The title of being the most expensive footballer ever brings its own marketability.

The threads are full of that kind of stuff though, everyone repeats themselves or each other constantly, every two pages you will read exactly the same comments from different or the same posters. I don't get why you find it so annoying. He is posting in exactly the same way many in here are but because he falls on the other side of the argument different to yours it gets annoying to you.

You think someone having a right to their opinion is a rubbish response? Just by pre-empting an argument doesn't mean you beat it.

Well played

I'm sure he can be marketed successfully to certain demographics, I'm just saying that like most footballers, he sure looks like a twat.

I hear what your saying, but I don't think the likes of you and I are his target demographic, that dosen't mean he isn't marketable. If they were trying to sell suits or something simular then he wouldn't be the man. But they are selling sports clothing he is.

Not that it should matter for us fans, but this should put an end to whether Pogba is worth £100m or not:

You strike me as the kind of person who would come out with that kind of cliched vapid remark like 'everyone has a right to an opinion' as though that somehow it has relevance to this discussion. It doesn't. People will always have opinions. It doesn't mean they all have the same level of credibility or relevance in every instance.

And this isn't rocket science. I honestly don't know why you're making it so difficult for yourself to understand. I've explained more than once already that what makes it annoying is that it's baseless and almost certainly being done with the intent to annoy. How you are managing to dismiss it as a simple case of me not liking it because it isn't consistent with my own point of view really is bizarre.

There are few men in football as flamboyant as Paul Pogba and with good reason. Now that he is at Adidas he will be more than just a shirt-seller.

The flashy Frenchman only turned 23 this week but it feels as if he has been at the forefront of Europe’s elite for far longer than his age might suggest. A prized asset of Juventus and one of the most coveted young footballers in the world, it’s not just clubs that have been keen for Pogba’s signature. Adidas and Nike have been courting the young Frenchman for years and now the long rumoured deal with Adidas has been confirmed, While it may not be as lucrative as Lionel Messi’s tie-up, Adidas and Pogba look like a match made in heaven.

It’s understood that part of what swayed the footballer over to the three stripes were the assurances he was given that he would be allowed to leave his mark on the brand rather than it be the other round. Pogba hinted as much when he said “we are united by our passions and values. We have the same vibes on and off the field”. Those “vibes” will be what Adidas gives its football marketing more swagger in its ongoing efforts to be more provocative and in-tune with the evolving culture around the game.

“Paul is one of the most in-demand players in the world at the moment, creating hype on and off the pitch with his inimitable swagger,” said Florian Alt, senior director of global brand communications at Adidas Football. “Paul is an inspiration to young footballers around the world and we are excited for what the future holds.”

Pogba represents an ideal fit for Adidas now. He is a master of his craft but more importantly for the brand’s marketers he is the embodiment of individualism which is a huge appeal to young audiences. Adidas has admitted it needs to work harder to reflect how people view and discuss the beautiful game now, bringing personality and dynamism to its marketing that’s been noticeably lacking from parts of its communications in recent years.

Business development director at Pitch, Paul McCormick, described Pogba as “a marketer’s dream who showcases all that is great about the beautiful game – skill, pace, personality and power”.

“By declaring that he has signed for Adidas because they have the same shared ambition as him and will allow him to explore new creative frontiers, the message to his audience is that Adidas is the brand for free-thinking, creative footballers and people.”

Pogba’s appeal with younger audiences will allow Adidas to make the most of what McCormick describes as a “crossover athlete” and will likely lead to many collaborations which explore his interests in sport, music and style.

Yeah I guess I'm maybe making it too difficult to understand and not say, maybe, disagreeing? like we have different opinions or something? Weird one I know, but you see to be struggling to make yourself understand that can be a thing.
