Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

110m for a player is insane. Still not sure what to make of it
For pure footballing reasons I 100% agree with you.
However, this lad is unique from our perspective for two key reasons:
1. He is a potentially world class player in a position we are desperate for (i.e. footballing perspective)
2. He is one, if not, the most marketable players now and in the future. You know all those sponsorships from noodles to adidas? They all depend on such players.

So for 1 above, what would be realistic? 60-70m Euros (I have no real basis for this)? So we roughly paying an extra 45 million euros to secure one of the most marketable players in the world. Seems fair to me.

can anyone translate the La Stampa article i posted on the last page in which Nerozzi clarifies the supposed second raiola comment?? Google translate is awful.

What's so marketable about Pogba. I keep hearing this.
You only become marketable by winning accolades and trophies
He isn't as marketable as Neymar and Messi. You can also throw in Bale, Ronaldo, Hazard, Suarez etc...

Didn't Pogba sign some big deal with adidas. I'd say he's pretty marketable. And surely you would say zlatan? Considering how many shirts he's sold.

I just can't get around this issue with us buying him back for all that money.

Meh, if it makes it any easier then we've got plenty of money anyway and it'll only be a bit of a dent. It's not really any more than we paid for a combination of, say, Di Maria, Fellaini, Hargreaves, Anderson, Obertan etc over the past decade or so. Just looks worse because it's all in the one.

To pure footballing people this is true - it's exactly why you've listed the players you have (I mean really who wants Suarez endorsing your product unless it's something like teeth strengthening).
As simplistic as this is, he is just "cool" personified. Go have a look at the Ronaldo performance thread right now, look at how he is making the headlines. Pogba has that celebrity persona like Ronaldo. Bale, Suarez et al. don't. It's as simple as that. And that's why he is marketable. It's a bit like why is Brad Pitt and the likes used to endorse products as oppose to superior actors? It's the persona, the looks, the attitude.

I agree. There again Juventus are refusing to pay his agent what's due and that after handling them a 100m rated midfielder for free

Fair point, but I'm just not sure that this is what it's all about, I posted yesterday that hoped we weren't on the receiving end of some elaborate wind up/hoax, I said it in jest, but I'm not so sure anymore, the whole thing is just weird.

I'm not saying he isn't marketable but the way people are going on you would think he's Messi as if he's won so many Balon D ors etc....that nobody can touch him in terms of sales etc...
I would say Messi, Neymar and Ronaldo are the most marketable players in the world.
Isn't Suarez Adidas's poster boy after Messi? I see him in all the Adidas ads likewise Bale?

I think that if this is the case, United will come out and deny any interest in the player. They've let these ridiculous rumours roll on.

See if zidane says anything tonight.

I think we all know pogba is leaving. It's just where.

Hopefully.

See if Zidane drops any hints tonight.

You do realise that the best possible excuse that could be made for you here with these last three posts is that you're trolling and being incredibly unfunny in doing so? Every other possible interpretation actually casts you in a far worse light - especially in terms of the extent of your intellect. So, yes, congratulations on that one.

No. Just realistic. Let's wait and see if he says anything.

Nothing is done yet.

Edit: Oh, and yes, you're incredibly realistic.

He's the new poster boy for Adidas I think but maybe that isn't the case. I agree that Messi, Neymar and Ronaldo are more marketable right now. Having said that, we have zero chance of signing any of them. So we're going for the next bracket which is good enough IMO.
Again though, the above is purely based on a footballing perspective. The top top players in the world (i.e. the three above) will always appeal the most to the football community in terms of marketability. For me, it's about tapping into the wider market - that's where we can get ahead of the competition. Basically, in my mind, finding the next Beckham (great player but never the top) is what we're looking for (and what we hoping Pogba is). We have the added benefit that Pogba is a damn good player in a crucial position we need.

Just not getting too carried away, yet!

Look I want this to happen more than any other transfer saga, but it could all change yet.

These things have happened.

I don't know whats worse the doubters on here or the guy posting old betting affiliate links on the juventuz forum for a betting market that has been suspended to prove Pogba is staying.

Not doubting his potential. Just the fact that we so much bothers me

Don't read too much into this whole Pogba signs United shirt guys..
It's all happened before and I think history will repeat itself with this saga..

He's clearly coming to United, it's pretty much done. Every outlet is saying so!

I get that. I really do.

But I'm just not getting carried away until he is signed because Perez might turn round and match our offer.

That's not negative but this is football and anything can happen.

Signing a specific Pogba 6 shirt is different though. And especially on a one to one basis, rather than amongst a crowd.

These things have happened.
I'm with you at this stage. I'm one of the biggest muppets around but I just can't bring myself to act like it's done before we have confirmation. Same way I don't celebrate a win until the final whistle even if we're 3-0 up. The twat I'd look if the worst happened just isn't worth thinking about

Now Nerozzi has suggested Dybala is being offered pogba's No.10, i wonder if that is why pogba is the "netural" character in the adidas ad? There was so much confusion about his destination when shooting started that it was just better to make him the neutral?

Yes but there were genuine concerns with Vidals fitness. I'm sure we WERE interested in him. Vidal would have had no problem going to United. He pretty much said as much.

If you think history will repeat itself then you have your head firmly buried in the sand.

Indeed Neymar, Messi and Ronaldo are more marketable at the moment, although you also have to consider the future.

Just like with footballing terms when we paid so much for Martial, most of the value out of these deals will come from their potential ability, both on and off the pitch.

Football is becoming more popular by the day. Pogba and Neymar will be more marketable in five years time, when Ronaldo will be 36 and Messi 34.

He's signed a United shirt, he's in a United/Adidas advert, all the most reliable journos are saying it's only a matter of time before it's announced! Allow your muppet self to know he's coming ;)

Exactly my point.

I forget what being 3-0 up even feels like.

What's funny? Is it done? No.

See Willian and Tottenham, it can happen.

Yes, it is. United are not going to announce it when the boy is in America on his holiday. They would want to announce it with pics of him in the shirt/MUTV interviews and the whole fanfare. It's hilarious that there still are sceptics!

You are not being realistic if you expect Zidane to say anything new. By the sound of things, Zidane wouldn't mind the player but Madrid are in the same position they were last week and the week before...Adidas keep doing these ads, logically could we have announced the deal before they showed them? No. They'd be pointless. We're watching a 'show'...
