Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

No because we are loaded and have a lack of quality players. I'd like to see us sign 2 blue chip players (Ibra & ?) and 1 more solid buy (Kante) and 1 more with potential (ala Martial Shaw or Memphis type).

Agree with ya. Money shouldn't be our concern cause we have shit loads of it. If this is the guy that's gonna take us forward, then we should stop at nothing. Intent is very important for any big football club and we're showing a lot of it by signing him.

I like him a lot but he's not even close to the best players in the world, at the moment. I know it's silly for fans (especially United ones) to complain about transfer fees but it just feels wrong to make him the world's most expensive player. I mean, I'm going to be pleased if he signs for us (don't think he will), but still.

Not mate.. It's not given what he's won. He was wealthy in glory before Pogba. He made a mistake..
He did not make the decision to sell him, or ask the club not to extend his contract. The only thing people can really point fingers at him for, was not playing him in that game were he preffered a mdifield of Park and Rafael. But if you think back without any rose tinted glasses, Pogba was good at the time but not great, not consistent enough to force himself into the first team. To flat out say SAF made a mistake and blame him alone for Pogba having his head turned is not quite fair. We all thought that the boy should have been just a bit more patient; he was definitely rated.

Disappointing today. Maybe he's too expensive indeed. Real won't buy him, IMO. He won't improve their midfield.

I find Utd 'fans' criticism of Sir Alex astonishing and disgraceful, not particularly on this thread but on this forum as a whole.
He did what he thought was right and let's face it given what he won he wasn't wrong was he? How do people know that had he have given into Pogba's wage demands other players wouldn't have followed suit and demanded ludicrous wages before they deserved it, maybe standing upto Pogba and his agent made other young players sit up and take notice and step into line.

As for Pogba I do think he'd be amazing at Old Trafford, is he worth the quoted price? Obviously not but its not our money, it's the clubs.

I think you are right about Ferguson. I'm not convinced Pogba would be great at United. I just don't think the PL is suited to him. He looked slow and cumbersome when he did play for United and he does the same for France. When teams are pressing, he loses the ball far too often, which he will be punished for in the PL with the high tempo game.

This thread is crazy at times - Have never seen people be so quick to be critical about a 23 year old regarded as one of the the best young players in the world!

Fans of plenty of other clubs would sacrifice limbs to even have a shot at signing Paul Pogba

I don't think it's unfair for fans to expect a bit more from a player who's going to be the most expensive player in the world if he moves.

He's not set the tournament alight. He's not even been France's best player. He's young, but he's not that young. Based on what I've seen of him here and when watching him playing for Juve he's nowhere near the finished article. He looks like he has all the tools to be a top, top player - but it's not guaranteed.

Plenty of players have not set the world alight in this tournament but even beside that, what signing is a guaranteed smash hit?

Would LVG have played him? It was a mistake and we could have handled it better. We were still at our peak noway should we have been losing top talent to Serie A?

I thought he was very good. Looked like he was comfortably the best midfielder on the pitch without even busting a gut.

Not sure if serious but I may have missed something. The next games will be more instructive.

I am serious. It wasn't excellent but I thought he did what he needed to, played some nice passes and looked so strong that it was as if he was playing against boys.

Agree that the next game will show more though.

Aye?? He had a good game! What did he do wrong? Held his position well and played some good balls.

Strangely enough, yes, I do think LVG would have taken a punt on the highest rated youth from the u21s rather than play fullbacks there. But I still think Pogba's chance was coming. With hindsight of course we could have handed it better and I hope we learned from it.

He played quite well I thought. Ireland players at times were bouncing off of him.

He had a good game compared to the Irish midfielders but the latter aren't class. One expects world class performances from him. He doesn't stand out so far.

That English Juve forum is full of idiots.

The actually Italian ones are good guys and hate Liverpool as much as us.

I haven't seen this before and couldn't confirm the authenticity of it. Anyone recalls Raiola saying this about Real?

a quick google search found this from espn as a source:

Raiola told L'Equipe: "If that's the case, we're not interested in Real either. I have never gone to Madrid to tell them: 'Please, would you like to buy Pogba?'

"Real Madrid are a club that is used to buying players like you buy a facecloth -- and then throws them away like a facecloth."

This would be a fantastic marquee signing and outside of his name and publicity ticks all the boxes from a transfer strategy point of view.

What I mean is, he is young and still developing and is regarded as being one of the best midfielders in the world already. In a few years his name will be the first ylu mention in world football in his position. It would would be mad for us to not attempt to get him in. Along with Rashford,Martial, Shaw etc we would have the core of a very very exciting project and the makes of something we should of had years ago even in the Fergie era.

If you dont want him at the club you simply must be blind and extremely stubborn to be as so blinkered to ignore what a signing like him would do for the club and team.

Gundogan? Pfffft we have Pogba. Please do it Ed.

Thanks for the confirmation i wasn't aware these quotes were real.

That leaves United almost on a clear path to get him.
Doubt it, if Madrid want him (and are willing to pay the money) he will probably go there

I don't see how Kroos, Modric and Pogba could play in a midfield 3 without someone getting dropped for someone more defensive though. Would create an unnecessary problem signing Pogba

Fergie probably doesn't like people he can't control and Raiola probably was one of them.
My take too.

People too often demonize those who act against United's interest. Agents owe us nothing and owe their clients everything. There are a lot of shit agents giving bad advice to their clients but not catering to our whims and desires doesn't mean they're not serving their clients properly.

Ibra's moves seem brilliant to me, Mkhitaryan if he comes to us will also look excellent and time will tell with Pogba. So far though, I see no problem.

He was very good in the second half when he sat further back. Our midfield was giving them some problems in the first, but when he started to take control he took them out of the game. Thought he had a good, if a little understated match. Great player, and I would love for him to come back. Don't give a toss about the price.

I have yet to see Pogba put in excellent performances against world class opposition like Gundogan in 12/13. If Gundogan wasn't so held back by that weird back injury he'd be comfortably the best young midfielder around.

Gundogan is 25, 26 by the time he gets back from his injury, around here that is geriatric. ;)

Agreed that the agent seems to have done well for his biggest named clients. Ibrahimovic has played for some of the best teams in the world, Mkhitaryan will have also done well to initially move the Dortmund and then to United. Even Pogba made a good move for his career in moving to Juve where he cemented himself as a top class player and will almost certainly make a big move in the not too distant future.

I think the main complaint against agents is the amount of money they take out of the game and those who engineer a transfer as it gives them a huge bonus rather than necessarily being the best thing for the player.

All this talk of us out bidding Real and matching the agents fee mean nothing if the player doesn't want to come. He'll want to goto Madrid and they'll pay less the Euro 120m. We're probably being used to get Pogba a better deal at Real. Also, where would you rather live Madrid or Manchester?

Manchester. I don't speak Spanish.
