Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

Bit of an exaggeration? Have you not seen the posts re proportions of turnover etc? The money is the market.

The problem with Gundogan is not a question over his ability, you said it yourself, the question is IF he stays fit. For me, that's not good enough.

I just prefer Gundongan as a player mate. PP doesn't do it for me. Do not want.

I also get the impression of there is a deal we would like to announce it when then team and club officials are back on Manchester.

I dunno, the press is so slippery that I think the moment anything is official, it'll be leaked. I can't see that sort of news staying on the DL for a few days.

Just read those quotes from Scholesy. Couldn't agree more. This joker isn't worth this kind of outlay and City did get a bargain in Gudongan.

The quotes doesn't make sense at all, for me it is a bit simplistic.

The game has changed and also Pogba is not a striker like Ronaldo/Messi so he is not expected to score 50 goals a season, it is also worth noting how much Scholes would be worth in today's market, i would say close to £60-70m, and the most he ever scored in a season was around 15-20 (i think).

Also, you have to take into account image rights etc and also saying Gundagon is bargain, c'mon that is just plain stupid for a player that has been injured and is now injured with a serious knee injury.

Am prepared to wait and see if Pogba turns out to be all that but from where I'm at, to continue the gaming console analogy, its like buying an oculus rift for way over the odds. A whole bunch of nerds keep telling each other it's the business but the rest of us see it's just a poxy pair of bottle ended glasses for viewing porn.
No wonder you don't want Pogba if that's the best analogy you can come up with for explaining why you don't want him. If you think the best use of Oculus rift is to view porn then you probably think Pogba is best used as a male escort.

I agree with some quotes from Scholsey, but comparing Gundogan and Pogba, its insane. Tell me one thing in which Gundogan is better? Acceleration, passing, long balls, sprints, long distance sprints with the ball, changing direction, and it goes on and on .. Gundogan can create something thats not questionable, but we need a player with all this attributes (even more) and stamina.

Think you mean 'crock' in Gundogan. Who would you prefer. A unfit player with several long-term injuries, or a 23 year old uninjured player with no injury history? I think we all know Pogba is better than Gundogan anyway. To call Pogba a joker, is just laughable. Good job on giving me a laugh this morning. You denied you are a WUM earlier in this thread. The more and more i see your posts, the more i think you're 'trying' your best to be one.

What are your reasons for not liking the player? For me, he is exactly what we need - a highly accomplished technical player, which we haven't had since Scholes retired. He can help us dominate possession and also unlock defenses that are lying deep. Not to mention that he does have the ability to score a few goals, which is again something we have missed. Of course he has some weaknesses, particularly on the defensive side of the game but if we pair him with 1-2 energetic midfielders, I see our midfield being the best in the PL.

I wouldnt have any issue with Woodward walking away from this at this stage.

Not that I dont want Pogba, but neither am I enthusiastic about watching us get totally ripped off. Juve are taking the piss.

Whatever Woodward decides to do is fine. But if he says, in the end Juve were just asking too much, it didnt make sense, I wont hold it against him, or see it as us being cheap. We cant allow our negotiating position to be handing over a pot of lube, bending over a table and saying do your worst.

There comes a point when we all need to ask ourselves, is Ed delaying this so RedCafe can break the Vidal transfer thread record?

Im sure RedCafe would make a killing running spcial add cmapaign on transfer saga pages.

Mods - I want my 20% commission for t

So how much would you be willing to pay for a Gundogan whose knees and back aren't a massive risk?

That's what we are getting in Pogba. These things cost money, but he's young, skilled with lots more potential, and has experienced the United way.

I think there's a bigger risk with injury to Gundogan than there is to signing Pogba and he doesn't get to the heights he's hyped to get to.

Who would you prefer, a player that costs a lot more initially, makes a lot of that back with shirts etc, or a player that signs and sits on the medical bench costing money each week without putting anything back in?

I would take Paul Scholes comments on this with a pinch of salt, considering that his brief return from retirement was one of the reasons why Paul Pogba left.

In the same article that Scholes says Gundogan is a great buy and that he has seen a lot of him, he says he isnt sure of Micky because he hasnt seen much of him. The interviewer should have probably asked him there and then, "erm Paul, you do know that they played in the same team for the last 3 years? And that Gundogan probably played less games than Micky due to the injuries he had."

I really liked the man when he avoided the press.

Nobody would move to Madrid due to a desire to play for a certain manager, since it's almost certain that any manager won't be there more than a few seasons.

Blah blah blah....getting boring!

Yet in the real world where grand marshal Perez isn't handing out the stories to mouthpiece journalists:

We knew DAYS ago that Pogba committed to MUFC. These spanish outlets man, the "cult of perez" must be maintained.

Agreed. I liked him more when he kept his mouth shut. This is also the player that actually refused to put on the Utd shirt for a game. He has spouted so much nonsense since he moved into the media, it's unreal. Hopefully we won't see too much more of him in front of the camera.

If Pogba is waiting for a Madrid move then the deal is hardly 'all but done'. Same shit, different day from the media.

Same. Loved him as a player. Rapidly turning into an annoying, negative whinging little cnut

sureeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

"pogba hasn't signed off" :lol::lol::lol:

Di Marzio told us on the FIRST DAY OF THIS SAGA that we have agreed a "deal in principle" with pogba to return. HE IS HAPPY TO RETURN. I know the "cult of Perez" must be maintained, but at least (spanish journos) do some fecking fact-checking before you dictate the info perez sends you :lol::lol:

The cost has never and will never change so I dont know why the Spanish press keep pushing this talk.

And we would never go this deep in a transfer (bidding more and more) without having guaranteed assurances Pogba will sign with us.

Sometimes I really wish we had a paper(s) that pushed our agenda to the public too.

"Pogba wants to return to United. Although Zidane was a great player, Paul considers Jose as the best manager in the game and one that will take his game to the next level. Pogba has also previously said that the only team in Spain he would join is Barcelona and that he admires Leo Messi more than Madrids Ronaldo, who he considers less of a team player"

Keep reading and hearing people speak about Pogba as if he's just all potential. Look at his inclusion in the UEFA and FIFpro XI. He's already one of the best midfielders in the world. His potential is to be one of the best overall. Yes, there are probably better deals available but we aren't in need of great value right now. We're lacking in top qualiry, not depth. Our team needs a superstar level talent to build around, to go with DDG and Martial. Pogba fits that bill better than any available young player.

Madrid have started a PR defensive on the Pogba situation. With everything that's coming out, it's pretty obvious he's United bound.

Well to be fair, Juve themselves just paid out 94mil themselves for a 28 year old striker who was surplus to Real just a few years ago. They probably know they're overpaying quite a bit too, but maybe that's what they feel they need to do to win the CL.

I guess in the same way, we're desperate to get back into the game too. Pogba will improve our chances of winning the league a fair bit, and maybe we need to suck it up just this once.

Of course there is ultimately a limit we will not exceed, but Juve probably knows this too. And I think 120+mil is probably the most they can squeeze from us without breaking the deal.

Id take his comments with a pinch of salt, though Im not sure that reason is particularly relevant.

It is very relevant. First of all because it hits Paul Scholes as a supporter. The club he loves has lost a player with great potential because he wasn't given space in our team. Paul Scholes may wonder if Pogba would have still left if he remained in retirement + he would be furious with the boy for not fighting for his first team place (these are people who think that Manchester United is the centre of the universe and that anything beyond not succeeding there is a failure).

It also hits him as a SAF's loyal disciple. Believe it or not, PS is SAF's most loyal disciple. Unlike Giggs and Gaz Paul Scholes didn't had any agents. When Moratti enquired about the guy, he ended up speaking with SAF who told him to stick his offer in an inappropriate place. Paul Pogba is the living embodiment of SAF's rare but biggest feckup. We're actually buying our talent back for 100m because the manager (Paul Scholes idol) preferred to stick to his golden oldies (which also include PS) than to this kid. For us, its not really that bad to admit that SAF messed up. He's the single most important person in this club's history but he's still human after all. However these people owe everything to the man, he made them the stars they are now and lead them to multiple victories. Basically they owe him everything and they can't stomach that he might have messed up big time.

Finally it challenges the very concept of the United way. The class of 92 have this romantic view of that period and think that United were lead by some knight in shining armour who would rather lose trophies then not giving youths a chance. Its unthinkable for them that SAF would rather lose a top quality but inexperienced talent and rely on his old guard just to end his career on high. This mentality is ironically highlighted by the Keano-SAF spat which is brilliantly described in one of SAF's books. At one point, Keane looked at SAF and told him that he had changed and he wasn't the man Keano idolised anymore. SAF admitted that he had to change else he wouldn't keep on winning. That is something I believe that the class of 92 have yet to fully comprehend. The SAF who gave them their shot wasn't the same SAF's of Pogba's time.

I just don't like his style. I'd prefer a more aggressive attacking midfielder. I don't like his hair either. Or his agent.
