LOL this thread.

"this deal hasn't happened within my predetermined timeframe, why is Jose not moving on?":lol::wenger::wenger:

It has nothing to do with pre-determined time-frames, it's completely possible that he could not move to us and no Journo seems to know squat as everyone has a differing opinion on how far this deal is to being finalised. We are 3 weeks from the season starting and several very good midfielders who I'm sure were on our radar have been snapped up for very reasonable prices. The longer this saga goes on the less and less options we will have available, in a position we desperately need to strengthen in. Would be very amusing to miss out on them all in pursuit of a player that remains at Juve. We've done it before, Fabregas, Vidal, Thiago all say hi. They don't need the Pogba money to fund the Higuian deal as it is most likely going to be paid in installments.

It's a world record deal for a player that isn't even worth close to that yet FFS and the deal is still being held up, so obviously they're not as desperate for cash as everyone seems to assume.

Verrati, Not far off behind Pogba's level. Doubt PSG will sell but it worth throw in 60-80m and see how they react.

PSG will laugh at us for anything under 200m.

Just buy someone else in a similar mould for 1/4 of the price and watch Juve panic.

They've already bought Pjanic and have lined up a mega deal for Higuain so they NEED to sell Pogba.

If we need 100m+ to price away Pogba from Juventus, a club who's not the strongest financially imagine having to price away a better player from one of the richest clubs in the world like PSG. Probably not even 200m would be enough to sign Verratti.
But his agent might want "what's best for my client etc..."

Not if they sell a lot of their fringe players. Unlike us they know how to sell them.

What was the purpose of the Di Marzio update if it literally had nothing new in it.

clicks. you should see how many juve fans have turned "remote possibility of staying" into Pogba will likely stay.

Again, for those that are now sweating muppet sweat. This is a NOTHING ARTICLE.

Raiola didn't do squat. It was Pogba's talent and his coaches who made him what he is today. It's like saying that you need to credit a beautiful house's construction to a real estate broker who acts as nothing but the middleman. Juve may actually owe Raiola for bringing Pogba to them but that is not enough for him to screw over a potential deal in which Pogba seemingly has his heart set on.

How many 6th choice man United players ended up playing at juventus? Raiola engineered such deal and provided his protection. Juventus promised Pogba a real shot to first team and having mino there ensured that they keep their word. You don't want to pass mino off

PSG would double any financial offer we make in a split second. He is contracted until 2020 and he is the only player they will never let go of unless he decides to run out his contract which lasts until 2020.

I don't think I'm overrating him when I say Verratti is the most talented and will be the most complete central midfielder in a couple of years. Even now, he's better than most central midfielders at the top clubs.

Juve are being greedy now but they obviously need the money. We should give them a deadline, say end of Tuesday, and then do nothing apart from Woody phoning Marotta every few hours and saying "tick tock tick tock" then hanging up.

They might but may ask for Martial to be part of the deal, money is not at all issue for them.

So there is a chance this is off again?

Make your mind up Di Marzio.

All the journos changing their mind on this every day, they're just milking it for all the cash they can and in reality they most likely know very little. They're smart and realise how much money they can make from this saga.

There is nothing new in that article at all. It's just positing that, because Juve are demanding more and there's the "off chance" it could break down, it's clearly not related to the Higuain purchase at all.

Most likely all just a leak from Juve to show their fans they are a) fighting for the best deal and not letting him go easy, and b) that they're sooooo rich they can buy Higuain anyway.
Well, that is new because two days ago it said that we'd agreed a fee with Juve. We are actually going backwards according to reports!

how on earth did you draw that conclusion from "remote possibility of staying"?

1. We knew Higuain's transfer was not DEPENDENT on pogba leaving. However it's been known from day 1 in papers like GdS that Juve were looking to get Higuain in and pogba would then be leaving.

2. We know there are teething negotiation issues around the fee.

3. Di Marzio's conclusion is that if there isn't a way to sort out all the issues there is a "remote possibility" of pogba staying.

Literally NOTHING different has been said.

If they've turned round and decided they want an extra 10/20 mil I'd look elsewhere to be honest. We shouldn't be made mugs of when they really need to sell given they've spent so much themselves.
I'd be happy with some decent up and coming player and us to finally spend the rest sorting our midfield and right back then get told we need to pay an extra 20 million for Pogba, just to put him next to Carrick.

If nothing is sorted I hope at this stage we pull out. feck em.

Who cares if we pay 150m for pogba?
We already wasted more than 200m on frauds. There's nothing to lose. It's not our money.

Get in! Hope we play him as 10 though with Morgan and maybe Carrick/Schweini or a new deep-lying playmaker behind,

That would leave no place for Rooney, who Mourinho recently confirmed will be a vital player for him.

Not gonna happen though sadly. Our captain fantastic will play there...

So, it looks like Rooney, once again, is going to screw up our play.
I think that if Rooney causes us problems, after a month or 2, he'll be benched.
Unlike LVG, Jose understands that winning is the most important part of his job. LVG never quite understood this and kept playing Rooney, even though he could not score enough goals.

We can afford it, it's not our money but it's stupid. He's not worth anywhere near the price we want to pay, let alone 150Million. Not only that, if we bend over for Juve and let them make us look like mugs we will get mugged by every club we want to do business with in the future and frankly as good as Pogba is he's not worth that hassle.

Pogba is not the type of player to stay behind, control the tempo of the game and spray passes to start attacks.

I read this sentence and thought, surely Blind is made for this role?
Basically, someone who uses their brain and passing ability to start attacks from the back.

The meltdown if that happened :wenger:
Juve are being more than compensated for losing a star, but we at the same time shouldn't be held over a barrel. Tbh we are already having our pants pulled down.

Blind and Pogba would be perfect together now that I think about it

The problem with Blind is him lacking physically to control the game when he's the only one sitting deep. He's very ineffective at slowing down opposition when they're breaking at pace. Mourinho likes someone a bit stronger in that role.

Well it's different to what L'Equipe said a couple of days ago, that we had reached agreement with Juve and Pogba and it was deal done. And that article was what all the excitement was based on.

Juve must really be posturing now. If they are actually asking for more money, then start putting out strong rumours from our end that we are going after someone else and will not go through with the Pogba deal. Make sure they've already committed to Napoli fully, and then leave them there to think on where to find the money to pay for Higuain.

We should never ever ever do any deals with Juve again. Not to even sell them a piece of shit. Irritating bastards.

If Juve are taking the piss then Pogba needs to step in here.
They're messing him around as much as us.

There has to come a point where we say enoughs enough. Imagine the fallout when Raiola doesn't get his £20m, Juventus their £100m and Pogba his £13m a year. All have more to lose than us.

True, looks like L'Equipe jumped the gun. However the section you highlighted was not in relation to L'Equipes story but Di Marzio's stance.

There is probably agreement on the overall price but quarrels about structure of payments. These things take time.

The same overly-kneejerk people saying we should pull out now will be the ones having the largest meltdown when we sign Matuidi or Diarra instead

Juve will be fine if they keep Pogba. Another season with one of the world's best midfielders only this time with an even better squad around him.

I thought we already agreed the fee and just waiting for the agent fees? What the hell is going on. Everyone just makes new crap up or backtrack on reports.

I literally don't know who to believe anymore.
