Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

I watched the euros. I saw him in the flesh versus Ireland. I understand my suggested preference is for a different type of midfielder and most don't agree. But there you go. I'd even prefer Matuidi!
We already have that type of player in Schneiderlin. By targeting Pogba, Jose clearly wants an attacking threat in midfield.

You mean the guy that got plucked out of obscurity, won the title and got CL football. Who then decided to leave that all behind for extra money and living in London? Mercenary.

Pogba will do that too?

As in, feck CL, feck the title, move for money, etc.

So we are wasting 94 on million Higuain. We would have been way better off just buying Griezmann if we are losing Pogba.

True. It's clearly Jose's plan. I don't think Schneiderlin is going to work out for us. Hence my preference for Matuidi/Kante type. Attacking wise I think I'd prefer that Portugese youngster.

Stop digging a hole for yourself there, mate. Kante and Pogba are two completely different players! Stop comparing. Matuidi is the most limited player in that French side, and you'd want him over Pogba. Jesus Christ...

How could Fergie ever considered Rafael in midfield was a better option than Pogba ?

He just mishandled the situation that time. Probably trying to show Pogba who was boss by not giving into his demands to play first team football which in the long term was probably designed to further motivate him into showing he was ready. It was a man-management tactic that had worked for Fergie many times in the past but unfortunately on this occasion it backfired.

He is more than capable of the deeper lying playmaker position. If Pogba is there I dont Pjanic will be playing a higher role than Pogba.

Hernanes played a higher role than Pogba, so yeah Pjanic is more likely to play higher.

Just from an egotistical point of view, what ambitious professional footballer would not like to be the subject of a World Record Transfer and possibly the very first £100 million (sterling) signing??

Pogba just by looking at his hair seems a wee poser, so he has to have a massive ego, so there.

I know they are completely different players. I've already said I would prefer a more combative style player than Pogba. I was asked who my alternative to Pogba is and that's my answer, a completely different style midfielder. I really don't like Pogba.

His hair is one of the reasons I don't like him.

Judging from some of the comments I really do wonder if many have watched Pogba play apart from the Euros. :( Sometimes I have to check if I'm in the right thread when I see some alternatives being mentioned.
They obviously haven't. no one would be crying over the price if they had.

If we do re-sign him I hope all of ye are proved right and I'm proved wrong. Just seems to me he isn't all that bothered about playing for United. If he was he wouldn't have left in the first place. After all the only players ahead of him in the pecking order were a 35 year old asthmatic and a Brazillian fullback. If he was as great as you were all making out he would have been first choice within 12 months. Seems like a mercenary Cnut to me. As I say I hope I'm proved wrong.
Agree with your concern to some extend.

That year we were closely contesting with City for the title and Sir Alex opted for experience when players were unavailable. Mind you, Pogba wasn't exactly lightening up the reserves at the time, more of a case of uninterested as he thought he was ready for the first team. SAF, as I read here at the time, didn't take it too kindly and wanted him to show more professionalism. Pogba didn't stand out in his first team games either, granted he was only 18-19 and the games were few and far between.

Regardless, I am confident he would have been promoted permanently the following season. In the end, he was impatient but in hindsight made the right career choice. I am not sure he would have developed at such rate if he had stayed with us considering our last three seasons and the state of our midfield that still persists.

I believe the chances of him staying here for majority of his prime is higher now than if he had never left 4 years ago.

Me? I'm honestly not. If you read the earlier part of the thread I'm on record months ago saying the exact same thing. My opinion on Pogba hasn't changed and won't until I'm proved wrong.
You mustn't like Vidal either then

So let me get this right. You'd want Kante or Matuidi in our MF next season along side the dross that is already there. Not one creative player in our MF at the moment, not one. Yet you want someone more combative?

Why have prices suddenly jumped up to a ridiculous level?, 94mil for Higuan, 50mil for stones, 75mil for Lakuka, 120mil for Pogba. Christ how much would Griezman go for, £200mil?, Ronaldo and Messi?.
Its crazy at the minute and i don't know whats suddenly happened to cause this. Has every league had a new bumber tv rights deal or something?

Griezmann cant go for £200m since his release clause is around £80m.:D

So after Pogba and Raiola asked SAF for guaranteed games per season SAF said "I don't even give Rio, Vidic, Scholes guaranteed game time, so I won't for a youth player" along those lines.

Which is a part of the story not often mentioned. Essentially, Fergie refused to be dictated to by a kid and his agent. Which is exactly what you'd expect from Fergie. You could argue that we should have been smarter about Pogba's contract - leaving us with more leverage, if you will, but at the end of the day it was a matter of principle.

Pogba was a top talent, nobody will deny that. But top talents don't always turn into to top players. He was also someone who - clearly - had a high opinion of himself. He thought hanging around, applying himself, waiting for his chance - and so forth - was beneath him. Fair enough - that's his opinion, and he is talented, so perhaps he's right to make a move. That doesn't mean Alex Ferguson is wrong not to bend over for him - and his agent. An agent who by all accounts had been in contact with Juventus for a good while - and who had a vested interest in making the move happen (if not now, then next year - or, if Pogba took big enough steps, not Juve, but someone bigger and richer).

Again, we could have timed it better - making sure he had a longer contract. But Pogba's attitude and the presence of his agent (not least), wasn't something Fergie was prepared to "get over" in order to make sure he stayed on our books. I don't blame him for that at all. The muppets on here don't give a feck about principles, of course - they just see what they want to see, and completely ignore the part Raiola played (which was probably the biggest red flag for Fergie).

Three things mainly:
1. Super-rich owners
2. Premier League TV money
3. Emergence of China
