And yes I honestly don't think City could pay the mooted costs of Pogba and address all the other areas of the team that need sorting. Maybe Pogba thinks City are below him and only the great Man Utd will do, who knows. I'm sure if he signs that will be the message.

Basically Romano is saying deal is nearly done and only thing remaining is Raiola's fee.

Atleast he is saying it's not a done deal than there are no negotiations. Guys be optimistic for once.
 
Maybe I'm just being a pessimist, but why on earth would both Marotta and Raiola publicly deny respectively that there has been no contact and that there is no deal, if there in fact is a deal that is just missing the last details(which everybody in here seems absolutely certain of). It would make absolutely no sense for them to make these statements if we're just going to finalise and announce the deal in a couple of days regardless. Maybe we really are not really close to a deal. Maybe Real Madrid are actively trying to hijack the deal?

But I would love it if someone could give a logical reason as to why Marotta and Raiola would publicly deny a deal if we're so very close to finalising it? It's especially strange that Raiola publishes it on his Twitter account which he seems to use once every year.

Woody just pay him as he has given us Zlatan and Mickhi too, if that doesn't deserve a fat bonus then i'm not sure what will.

If Pogba was ever going to return, it would be to United and not City. You can sit there and say what you like, but even under mismanagement by LVG, you only qualified for the champions league ahead of us, on goal difference. That was a free pass. I don't think it will be repeated.

You are just being pessimistic. Look in the history of transfers, and you'll see quotes like those of Marotta and Raiola happen pretty much every time. Hardly ever do clubs come out saying they're in talks with another club.

I didn't think I'd ever leave this thread because people are being so negative but it's getting close to that.

Since when did mourinho have an excellent relationship with raiola? In fact, I don't actually think he has signed many of raiola s clients till now (I don't know the list but I doubt it's more than 2 or 3 in 15 years). He was more of a Mendes guy understandable considering he was represented by Mendes.
 
My feeling about this transfer:
1) Pogba has had an inclination towards joining United ever since Mou was hired and United contacted Pogba(via Mino).
2) The ITKs(not all), but some like Acquire Me and KingJohnno are being honest, as they have heard that plenty is being done to complete this transfer.
3) We have agreed terms with the Pog.
4) Real obviously are a factor. Pog could be distracted by them, if and when they come in with a Real offer. This does not seem likely to happen. But you never know.
5) Juve and United are talking. Juve are ok with selling but for a lot of money.
6) All these points are making the Journalists think that all is and/or will be done. Clubs will announce as soon as things are completely done, but it is the job of the journalists to report things before the clubs do, so they are using all the positivity from the points above to safely conclude that the deal is done.
7) Agreement in the United-Mino-Juve triangle has not been reached. Three big parties with big egos. Anything can happen. There is a lot of posturing also happening to gain leverage in the negotiations. In terms of negotiation and discussion this part is the most complicated and unpredictable one. Hence, we can safely say that the deal is far from done. Let's stop gloating. Let's be hopeful and keep our fingers crossed.

But you know that if it indeed was just about relationships between agents and Mourinho, then we'd have tons of Mendes' players as he is Mou's agent, no?

Hopefully you're right. And I can see that there's probably nothing strange with Marotta's comment. But why would Raiola, by himself, announce on his Twitter account, that there is no deal, if in fact there is a deal that's close to being finalised? I would just like to here for what reason that could be? I fail to see what could be gained by making such a statement. Do you have a guess?

Because he's Mino Raiola and he did the same thing only hours before Zlatan said on Instagram he's going to United.

If this deal is hanging on him taking a pay cut from 20% down to 10% or even 5%, you better believe it will get done. There is no way this man is missing out on a pay day no matter what the % is. 2% is better than 0%.

I'm not having any of the nonsense gossip that his percentage is holding this deal up. Imagine ruining someone's career just because you wanted a bigger piece of cake? Pogba would just sack him if he did wreck this transfer for him. Not worth it.

Yep, Mourinho and Raiola are not overly friends, his agent is Mendes.

Concerning your point of City being above United, that's pure speculation and I can't wait to start next year to prove it on the field. United is not just buying players, the club has some of the brightest talents lined up and one of them already scored against City while we had a negative philosophy. Pogba and all the other new signings are going to change that.
