Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

I agree, but I don't know forum rules on what posts get deleted. There was one in this thread the other day from a United fan who made a racist post regarding Pogba (the plane tweet). However that wasn't deleted so I'm assuming forums view deleting member's posts as censhorship? If it were up to me they would be deleted.
Posts get seen and reported if they are inappropriate - you won't know about this unless the post disappears.

I am gobsmacked this transfer might actually happen. Don't even know what to say about the pricetag. I hope he's worth it.

How is that true? If a player delivers the goods nobody goes on about the fee. Is Bale worth £5m more than Ronaldo? No, but he delivers the goods so the fee becomes irrelevant. Was Martial worth £50m in his first year? No, but he was good enough for people to understand the fee. If Pogba plays well this season people will understand the fee - with all those years ahead of him. He doesn't need to perform at Messi's level instantly. The only players who have been slammed for their fee is because they were shite..Torres, Carrol etc.

I can't think of any example of somebody who has played well for a club but still gets stick because of the enormous price tag. They get stick because of their performance and expectations exist based on their footballing ability for previous teams, not how much they were signed for. Pogba just needs to play well and the fee will become irrelevant, we are just buying a top player...we are buying immense potential. Nobody will get on his back if he isn't the best midfielder in the world for us.

Because football fans today are obsessed with transfer fees. They spend all week playing Football Manager and are experts on the matter.

Pogba's fee will be mentioned every day, every where, for the next season or so.

Bale has been delivering the goods so people are off his back for now but just wait for the second he goes out of form.

Even before he played a game everyone talked about how big of a flop he would be.

My point is that it is unfortunate. The money and fees are purely business and shouldn't be used a stick to beat players with. Fellaini has suffered the same fate. Because of his fee people compared him to Fabregas or other players around that apparantly you could get for that fee.

If we do sign him, I hope we sign him for 6 years and put a 400M pounds release clause in. Just in case Madrid still have ideas.

Can't understand why they are so bitter, they got him on a free and now will receive more than €100 million for him. Were Spurs fans this bitter when Madrid bought Bale?
I think it also has something to do with most of them(as far as what I see from that forum) genuinely believing they are a bigger club than us. And some of their reasoning is that we've missed a couple of CL in the past few years(as if not all big teams be it Real, Barca, Bayern, Juventus themselves haven't been through some sort of rough patches for a few years and always manage to bounce back dominating again mostly due to vast financial resources which we still have in spade)

If Pogba starts bossing the midfield with United high up in the league, they will soon pipe down. Who cares what other fans say about the fee if he is playing well?

Posters doing some FM maths and saying we can get Mahrez and Bonucci for the same price are clearly missing the point.

A creative midfield type is the number one gap we need filling, and Pogba is probably the best attainable player in the world that can fill it. Its pretty rational business.

Not sure I'd measure one's passion by whether they've been to the club's home. I agree that armchair fans (eg the gloryhunters) are irrelevant, but I myself lived in Manchester for a year when I was 2 and haven't returned since (and still to this day have not been to a home United game), yet I'm up at 2 am, 5 am etc for every single United game. The nature of big clubs is that they have, by definition, fans from abroad, or else they wouldn't be big clubs. Anyway, off topic.

This logic is very flawed. I mean this board alone probably contains many people who have never been in Manchester let alone Old Trafford yet they are Man United fans. Just like us, Juventus are a global and massive club which attract support and fans from everywhere around the world including those who can't make it to United or Juventus respective cities.

Unless you believe only those in this forums who have been to Manchester are true fans of the club(which will probably alienate the majority of posters here) then your reasoning is incredibly faulty

I didn't meant that if you never visited the place you can't be a supporter. However the way they are reacting to this is not Juventus way. You see every big club with some history behind tend to have an ideology. Manchester United tend to like develop kids, Real and Inter like to buy ready made products etc. Juventus also have an ideology and that is to be get unknown talent, develop them into stars and then sell them to a massive profit only for the cycle to repeat again. They aren't a selling club. I mean they don't need to do that to balance the books or anything. They do it because they are ruthless and they are so confident in their club's structure (which tbf is great) that they can sell almost anyone and bring an equally good cheaper replacement.

What Juventus are doing at the moment is so Juventus. Its comparable to us giving a chance to Rashford or Real buying Bale and Ronaldo. So yeah, having them acting the way they do surely show that they have absolutely no idea of the club they supporting. Its like a random United supporter comes here and say that we should buy Neymar, Lewandowski and Icardi to make sure that Rashford doesn't make it. Yes its that crazy

Whoever is buying Kroos from Madrid will be the one paying 90% of Pogba fee, you might as well bid Pogba instead. Honestly guys, you all need to stop the idea that 100M will get you 3 top tier players.

I can't stop laughing. I guess you're being sarcastic?

Or you're downplaying the best CM's in the world when comparing them to a 23 year old player who is coming from a midfield heavy team that is light years ahead of everyone else in their league, and then you go on to call him incisive.

Oh, and btw, midfield maestro, that's not Pogba. He's box to box. Kroos, Modric, Iniesta, the ones you're downplaying are a definition of midfield maestro's. If you wanted a young "midfield maestro", there's a guy playing in PSG, but they say he's not for sale.
What was funny about his post?
You're also clearly and bitterly downplaying Pogba, but I suppose it's okay for you to do it? Many on here agree that Modric and Kroos are perhaps above Pogba, but they also note that Pogba's ceiling is astonishingly high. The three players you listed will go down as among the best midfielders their respective countries have ever produced. If Pogba compares unfavourably to Iniesta, Modric and Kroos, it's hardly an indictment on his ability (I won't even mention the age gap, and the fact that Pogba's ceiling as arguably above all of them...). The same sentiment applies in regards to Verratti: they are the two best young midfielders in the world, by a considerable distance.

mwuuuhahahahahaha, at last, free, free to rejoice, freedom to post in the big boys rcafe and at what a time, just in time, for the greatest muppet transfer behind Monsieur Vidal.

Now we all know how that one went, but this time it will be different, surely it will be.

And what of Pogba, the darling of Old Trafford, the return of the Prodigal son, have read almost every single page of this vast thread, 17 bloomin thousand and two hundred and forty something posts.

Some of quality, some of *rap and some that one cant even justify, but the one thing thats stands out is none of it matters as Pogba is coming back, muppets rejoice, rejoice I say.

And having read all those posts, please forgive me for this slight OT, but why oh why are some peeps feeling the need to find issues with Acquire Me? Having read every single one of his/her posts have not seen anything but a genuine person passing down information to quench the first of the muppet clan!

Always humble, in good jest and with no bigotry, yet some seem intent to not pay him in kind!

So far he has been exemplary and always making clear that the information is simply passed down to him from someone he trusts and yet still, some peeps continue to post negative comments against a fellow fan!

No more to be said of this, back to the darling Pogba.

'Son' please dont break our hearts again, please dont let anything sway you away. It has been said that you regreted the decision to leave, though it was too late to turn back, so we have waited, watched and held onto the hope that one day you may return.

Have no idea what I would do, if you happened not to return, the strain may be too much coming after the Vidal saga, only now have I managed to post again.

see you soon, beloved ................
The RAWK is strong in this one...

Wow!! This is really happening!! Italian, English, Spanish papers all reporting it.

I don't agree with the price. But who can say "NO" to this:

--------------------- Big Dave ----------------------
Valencia ------ Bailey ---------- Smalling ---- Shaw
---------------- Carrick -------- Pogba --------------
MKhitaryan ----------- Rooney ---------------- Martial
------------------------ Zlatan -------------------------

Bench:
Herrera
Lingard
Schneiderlin
Bastian
Young
Fellaini
Blind

That is a champions league winning team, and we are not even in the champions league.

PS

Please DO NOT say Carrick shouldn't be in there. Carrick is one of our midfield general. Look at the amount of games we lost over the years without Carrick in midfield. I'm sure Mourinho would agree.

This. Do people honestly believe that if we bid even £80m for Kroos that Madrid would accept? Never mind the fact he wouldn't want to come anyway.

These same Utd fans losing their sh*t over Pogba's fee are probably the same guys who freak out everytime we don't sign a marquee player.

You can't win with them.

I'm not sure on the great Juventus club structure, the are €188m in debt which in itself isn't a bad thing but over the last 2 seasons they have operating profit of +€3m and minus $7m euros without spending huge on transfers. I might be missing something but i think they do need the money from transfers but i wouldn't go as far to say they are a selling club, they just operate in a smart way which is easier when your home league is less competitive and you can afford to bring younger players through more often.

WHAT, no Rashford and TFM in the squad? How many midfielders do you need on the bench? Glad you're not the manager

They just built a stadium. I think they are the only Italian club who have a stadium of their own. They receive near zero financial help from their owners so the debts can be justified because of that.

Regarding fees, well you're probably right. At this point they may have to sell. However common sense say that it would be a better idea for them to sell Bonucci for 40-50m then Pogba

This, that's an awful subs bench. There's not even a substitute keeper but there's 4 centre mids?

It's Valencia at RB I'm opposed to never mind Carrick

I wouldn't say it is a Champions League winning team! It's a cup competition so anything is possible I guess (see Greece) but it's not a top team by a long way. In fact I don't believe it is currently better than the Juve team Pogba would be leaving.

These car comparisons and inflating transfer fees... I am happy Pogba is coming, but still would have preferred the money to be spread on other players, having said that the window has been very good in balancing the squad.

Though for the 100m or what ever it is we know we could have got Sanchez for 45m, Kante for 30m and probably Mahrez for 45m. They would have been excellent additions and not shitty cars or parts in comparison

Carrick Pogba
Rooney
Is probably the worst United midfield in the past 30 years.

You're also clearly and bitterly downplaying Pogba, but I suppose it's okay for you to do it?

My post is too old to quote directly (month and a half ago), but here you go:

Playing in serie A for Juventus can make a player look better then he really is. I don't recall Pogba having great games in CL when the pressure is on and there's less time on the ball, less time to think (like in every EPL game).

Time will tell, but it won't be smooth adjustment period wherever he ends up in the end, but he will be one of the very best eventually. That is not debatable.

I'm not bitter and as you can see from my post, I am aware of his potential. The problem is you people because you are the ones who equate performance with potential/hype.

Potential is one thing, hype is something else, performance is something completely different, and youtube videos are meaningless.

If you watch Juventus in serie A, good for you. I don't watch and I don't know how Pogba performs in the league. I also don't care for the reasons I already mentioned. I do watch champions league and I've seen enough in the past 2 years to objectively state that he didn't have one stand out performance against serious opposition.

The bolded ones probably wouldn't make the bench of the champions league winners.

Anyone think we'll play with one DM and use Pogba and another advanced midfielder instead of playing 4231? I think playing Pogba deep with Rooney as a #10 will kill our attack. I'd rather see us play Carrick or Schneiderlin behind Pogba and Herrera.
