Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

No he is suggesting that clever scouting and transfers that form a team rather then a load of ego manics worth 50 million each. In the end a team wins a match not individuals.

Tell that to Real Madrid..... see what I did there?

I know what you mean but there are many gems out there for £30m. Look how much Miki and Bailly were.

True, but Bailly can't be seen as a gem yet imo. I haven't seen him play anyway, maybe you have but he is a prospect and nothing more in my eyes. Miki had one year left on his contract or he would have gone for a lot more but yes he was a steal.

I think people need just common sense and logic to see that there is a major obstacle for this transfer to happen even if Real and other teams give up on singing Pogba: it doesn't make much sense from his perspective to sign for United this summer. Juventus are in the CL and have (arguably) a better team than United. United are in EL and there is uncertainty about their future. Pogba can stay at Juve and see what happens next season. If everything's going well under Mourinho and if Real/Barca/Bayern do not want him next summer he may choose to return to United. Why do it now and play in Europa League? Does it make sense? Financially wise it may make sense but Juventus can sort of compensate it somehow.

He is 23. He can take a bit of a gamble right now and if the move doesn't come off then he can go to Real Madrid eventually anyways while pocketing a shed load of money he would get here.

Regarding the latest Mino quote.... The new transfer from Juve is irrelevant tbh. He is already there highest earner and they can't offer him too much more without destroying there wage structure, and we already knew that they didn't want to sell. The situation hasn't changed - If Pogba wants to come to us, he will. If he doesn't, he won't.

Why gamble though? Why not attack the CL with Juve next season and see what happens with United under Mou? He is bound to get huge money from his next transfer, few millions more or less don't matter in the big picture.

How can 50% more of what Juve is paying not be considered a lot?

It's a lot, but it's not like he's on poor man's wages either. I'm pretty sure his commercial deals net him a lot of money, too. If you are already in a bracket where you make more money than you'll ever be able to spend, then there might be other factors involved in your decision making as well.
If he's really keen on joining a club that is not Utd, he is certainly not in the worst position to wait and see at Juve.

Should just have bought Sanches and let another club deal with this clusterfeck.

I've changed my mind. I'd rather we spent the money elsewhere. Not sure who though.
£100m + is just too much. That is money for elite players like Bale and Neymar.

Even if we miss out, not a big deal. The positive is everyone in the world knows we are able to sign big players for £100m+. Might not bear fruit this summer, but as muppets we can rejoice that we definitely have it in us to sign a truly global superstar.

I think we can get top 4 without a big big star this year.

We pay this much and we'll be held to ransom with every signing we make. It used to be just Spurs that did this to us.

Who needs Pogba when you've got Cleverley or erm Fellaini.

If Juve reject our offer then they're complete idiots as nobody will offer that much but Fair play to them.

£100 million is a huge amount of cash and can easily be used elsewhere.

I'm not worried about rejected bids until it's reported by someone reputable, such as Di Marzio. I seem to recall that Gazzetta dello sport website reporting a whole host of rubbish regarding Vidal to United.

Can people stop using the 'he will sell shirts' argument to justify the exorbitant fee, Adidas will pocket that money not the club.

If we don't sign Pogba, who will be Jose's second and third choices? Hopefully Kante is one. How much would he cost us?

Nothing to get worried about just yet I reckon. It's a huge transfer, Juve aren't too keen on selling and transfers this big will always take long to go through. Some of you need to chill out

Why would Kante be an alternative to Pogba? They're totally different players, totally and utterly different. When De Gea leaves I hope we sign a good replacement like John Stones.

It's still relevant. The more shirts we shift the more money we'll get when we negotiate a new sponsorship deal with them.

100m is the price of vanity. He is a special player, a superstar, and our fans have been crying out for a world class signing ever since Ronaldo left. Obviously there are alternatives if this doesn't go through but we are United and we should always try and go for the best players.

I have not been able to follow the saga today apart from reading those quotes by Raiola. Any other developments or any outlets reporting anything new on this?
Do us muppets have a reason to fear now? :nervous:

The shirt sales will take care of themselves whether Pogba comes or not, people will buy the Zlatan shirt or whoever else comes in.

I think we'll have to sign two, a defensive and creative central midfielder. Pogba is such a unique player because he has so many qualities like strength, height, passing and vision. A lot of players will have one or two of those qualities but not all four combined.

Not really.

Is he world class though? I have no problem paying anyone any amount of money for a worldie in our side but as romantic as bringing Pogba back would be, he is not all that from what I saw.

Pogba is as elite as Bale, and Neymar would cost twice as much.

I always thought him staying would be the most likely outcome. I'd be gutted if we didn't manage to get him.

Doesn't sound like it. Those Raiola quotes aside, nothing new appears to have happened. He made similar quotes a few weeks ago about Zlatan.

Don't agree, Bale is more established then Pogba in my opinion. He'd also cost about £130m in today's market.

Dont think we'll get him. Raiola was doing what all agents do -> getting the best for his client. He'll sign a new bumper deal with Juve and that'll be it

When did you watch him?

I'd love to think no one on here is daft enough to judge him based on the Euros, but I think I'm overestimating people.

He doesn't have any price at the moment, cause Real doesn't sell (unless they want to get rid of that player). However, I don't think that he is much (if any) more established than Pogba.

"Raiola said Pogba is not desperate to move and he knows where the midfielder would like to spend next season, but added: "We didn't talk about transfers during the Euros."

By all accounts that is probably Madrid. As all the major reports have said we / Jose will need to convince him or move on.

I suppose he could then move to Madrid in a couple of seasons time once their transfer ban is over.

Probably because anything can happen over the next 12 months Pogba could break his leg, United will probably buy someone else for his position or be looking to replace Zlatan for big money if it didn't workout allsorts could put a spanner in the works you have to strike while the iron is hot and that applies to the clubs and players alike this opportunity may not come again

I think we have always regarded this as a long shot and have been looking at alternatives for some time.

Not completely correct, the club takes all profits made from club stores.

But that's a minor point. Signing big stars results in easier marketability of the club to new sponsors. That's why Woody is eager to land big stars. Our next sponsors would rather have Pogba and Neymar on their adverts than Fellaini and Young.

Though for a much lower fee than what United appear to be offering. So it's partly in Juve's court what happens next. Keep him for a couple of seasons but sell him for 30-40m less.
