Seriously calling me erratic and irrational? For that? Hilarious. Jog on.

I tend to believe The Times when they make quotes. I can't see them plucking them out of a toilet.

I am just saying that people need to look at what Railoa has supposedly said in the past and the exact opposite has happened, before getting their nickers in a twist. Now here are the possible scenarios:

1)He is the most incompetent agent on the planet
2) He is being coy and creating a smoke screen
3) He never said the alleged "quotes"

I will let you decide. It's funny that you are acting emotional and erratic right now. Just saying... before I "jog on" :D

I remember 12 hours before Zlatan signed Raiola talked about his next club and that it might not be United. Dont listen to the guy he's usually a massive wum, that's why Fergie hated him.

"Raiola said Pogba is not desperate to move and he knows where the midfielder would like to spend next season, but added: "We didn't talk about transfers during the Euros."

By all accounts that is probably Madrid. As all the major reports have said we / Jose will need to convince him or move on.

How is by all accounts? When there are many many "accounts" of him wanting to come back to Manchester?

Why do people find it so much easier to be negative nancy's?

Can people stop using the 'he will sell shirts' argument to justify the exorbitant fee, Adidas will pocket that money not the club.
We get a cut of the shirt sales. This deal isn't like the Nike deal.

When did you watch him?

I'd love to think no one on here is daft enough to judge him based on the Euros, but I think I'm overestimating people.

No, I'm not judging him based on the Euro although a lot can be said about his individual performance in it too. The times I saw him play against stronger opponents for Juve he never lacked confidence but also nothing too special to be called world class?

Don't agree, Bale is more established then Pogba in my opinion. He'd also cost about £130m in today's market.
Is he world class though? I have no problem paying anyone any amount of money for a worldie in our side but as romantic as bringing Pogba back would be, he is not all that from what I saw.

I think he is, and Bale has 3 yrs on him, but they are both WC. They both have pace and power, a strong mentality, amazing technique and doesn't easily get injured. Both built for PL football. I think he's worth it because midfielders with those attributes are much harder to find than attackers.

Juve are not going to turn down a bid of over 100 million  The whole club can be bought for 250. Deals like this don't happen quick. People need to chill out. Two more weeks i'd say.

With talk of a new Juve contract and other clubs being interested (as you'd expect) my confidence levels have taken a hit today. I'm not convinced that Pogba wants the move to us as much as his Agent does

Ironic really. He should be the best source but you can't really go by what he says.

Will this be how it ends. They make an agreement for next season with Madrid. Not even Jose and all the money in the world convinces him to return.

So be it. Let's at least get Kante then and someone who can control a ball under pressure.

Not completely correct, the club takes all profits made from club stores.

But that's a minor point. Signing big stars results in easier marketability of the club to new sponsors. That's why Woody is eager to land big stars. Our next sponsors would rather have Pogba and Neymar on their adverts than Fellaini and Young.
It's not just that.

People underestimate the appeal of prestige and legacy. Not that it matters more than money or trophies, but it is a factor. People want to play for Barca and Madrid because of the prestige that comes with playing for them. They want to play on the same team their idols Zidane, Ronaldinho, etc.. played for. Flashy names continue to be a selling point for those clubs. It feeds their ego.

It is why Zidane was such a smart move. Players want to emulate him to this day.

Why would Juve agree to sell him next year to Real for less money? It's not logical.

Returning to Manchester isn't the hell on earth for Pogba that people are painting it as.

Pogba is as elite as Bale, and Neymar would cost twice as much.

Sorry Pogba is no way near Bale at the moment. Maybe in the future, but not now. Bale is one of the top 5 players in the world.

.
Dont think we'll get him. Raiola was doing what all agents do -> getting the best for his client. He'll sign a new bumper deal with Juve and that'll be it

Except United are set to make him the 3rd highest player behind Ronaldo and Messi, Juventus will not do that, nor will they pay Raiola a 20m fee, so not exactly sure getting him less money and forgoing a 20m agent fee is getting the best deal, if we are strictly talking money.

Yes there's that, I was just speaking from a commercial point of view

I get the whole marketability angle, but saying we will make 100m back in shirt sales is not accurate.
That's not true. Bale is on another level.

Not even Neymar's level, strange claim to make.

maybe he will sign a new contract with a reasonable release clause and moves to Madrid within next two seasons.

The only things I have read are that Pogba was 'open' to a United move, though his preference is Madrid.

Title change should happen. I know Raiola might be talking shit, but I think what he says is more important than what Di Mazrio says.

Did I not acknowledge that? And you have the cheek to call me erratic?
All I said is that I believe the word's of Pogba's agent is a little bit more of a title headline for player's transfer page on our forum over Di Mazrio's.

Plus, the irony of your last line is hilarious considering you were the erratic one to jump to conclusions that I hadn't considered Raiola's past.

Yea hope we get on with this either way. If he wants to stay at Juve/Juve are not willing to sell we need to move on. These long drawn out transfers help nobody.

He seems to really love playing for Juve and might be happy to stay there unless one of top 3 clubs in Europe may come in for him. He might see Utd as a chapter he wants to move on from no matter how much we offer.

Would absolutely love him here but would settle for Matuidi, Sissoko and Will Hughes if Pogba says no

Sissoko and Will Hughes? Bloody hell!

If its true that they have rejected a £112mil bid, i'd say move the feck on and go for other targets, even though i want Pogba.

Raiola has spoken very little truth all summer. Firstly yes he's going to talk of clubs. Being an agent, you are not going to say club. It's gives more narratives. He's also saying that he may stay - but we can speculate that's tied into signing an extension. Nothing really has changed but you get the people who are insecure or weren't happy - acting like lemmings. All that money to Juventus - means absolutely nothing if every club you try and buy someone from, is greedy and knows you've money. If we consider P/X - then that also takes a period of time. So we won't hear anything reliable until probably next week. In that time, if the club purchase 1/2 midfielders then we can say it's over.

If Juventus wanted to keep Pogba and were despirate - they would more likely sell that defender City were linked too. He would bring in enough money to actually challenge what United could offer Pogba.

United sell between 1.2 -1.5 million shirts per year.

Lets say for this point they sell 1.5 million.

On each shirt sold, each club who have Adidas kits receive 12 euro’s per shirt.

12 x 1.5m = 18m euros per year.

Lets say EVERY SINGLE UNITED SHIRT sold next season has Pogba on the back – it is still impossible for it to pay his transfer fee and unlikely itll cover his wages.

This is why the shirt selling statement is all a nonsense. An image painted by the media that doesn’t reflect the reality.

Also bear in mind this is Euro’s and not pounds.

My sides are killing me from laughing at that post. What on earth are you on to think that lot would help us get back to the top?

Should I stay camped on this thread, or is it time to remove the tent and head to another transfer thread?
The inner muppet is very confused right now. Needs a good or comforting news.

While we are at it would you also like us to get Ighalo, Vardy and Drinkwater?

It aint over till its over. This is still very much ON. One small quote doesnt change that.

I hope you are trying to jest with this post. Even the Scousers are laughing at the idea of buying Sissoko from Newcastle, the guy shows up two games a season against a certain Chelsea side. And why Will Hughes?

From several articles, lists of expensive goalies, euros to pounds converters etc etc. Buffon is still the world's most expensive goalkeeper, even after all these years.

Governments inflation calculator estimates roughly what you say, approximately £48 million, but I'd argue that you can't use inflation as an accurate measure of football transfer increases.

The combined live TV rights for the Premier League sold for 1.1bn back in 2001 (split between BSkyB and NTL...[yes NTL]).

The combined live TV rights sold last year for 5.1bn with the contract starting this season (predominantly BT Sport and Sky). That is a monumental increase, a 364% increase to be precise.

Applying that increase to the £32.6 million paid for Buffon in 2001 (32.6 * 3.64) you get a figure around the £118.5 million mark.

Depends how you view the market, but I trust an ex investment banker to have conducted the necessary feasibility studies to have come to the numbers that they have (and in order to beat the competition). You simply don't spend over 100 million without having done the maths first.
