Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

It's not that simple. When players leave United it's because they're surplus to requirements and will be taking a step down.

United buy players from smaller clubs who don't want to sell and players are making a step up; you can't apply the same logic to our player sales.

Fair enough, I can agree with that logic.

Yes, the player will go to another club, not renew his contract with a club that can't compete with us financially or otherwise. Real Madrid are out of the picture, City, PSG and Barcelona aren't in the scene. The only thing in our way is Juventus. That doesn't worry me at all.
I have to say I admire your resolve!

I personally think UKIP would be the reason the Tories don't call for an election.

I was very skeptical of this happening up to a couple of weeks back. I was certain he was off to Madrid. I honestly don't see how this situation is the same as the majority of our failed big signings though. We're in the driving seat on this one.

It's about £45m by today's standards, chief.

How did you calculate this?

Can't help but think that the TV money has dramatically altered the market starting this year, Watford rejecting £30million for Deeney and West Ham throwing cash all over the place springs to mind...

How did you calculate this?
From several articles, lists of expensive goalies, euros to pounds converters etc etc. Buffon is still the world's most expensive goalkeeper, even after all these years.

Everybody is forgetting Raoila's apparent "huge cut" of the deal too. If they renew, he surely will not pocket anywhere near what we are offering.

If Pogba want's to stay at Juve for another 5 years then fine, his loss. They aren't winning the CL anytime soon, he can maybe win 10 scudetto in a row if he must.

Nothing tallies up with what his father said. He finds the Italian league "boring" and want's to move to 1 of the 2 top leagues in Europe (England or Spain) why would that suddenly change?
Still much bigger chances than at Utd to do so.

LOL raiola makes one comment and people dissolve faster than powdered sugar in water.

Raiola on Zlatan:

"Does it have to be United that Zlatan goes to? Will the whole of Sweden not sleep if it does not happen?"

"We have yet to decide, it'll be a surprise in the end. Everyone talks about United, which is why I don't talk to journalists a lot.

"There are clubs in England and Europe, some outside of Europe, but everyone thinks he must go to Manchester United. It's not true."

Still much bigger chances than at Utd to do so.

Obviously, because they're in the Champions League at this current time and we're not. Pogba will be tempted by Mourinho as manager, playing with his friends Martial and Schneiderlin, the huge wages and playing for one of the biggest clubs in world football.

When it comes to Juventus v Man Utd, there simply isn't any comparison. We've got a bigger fanbase, bigger stadium, famous manager and can offer far more in wages.

It's a no brainer UNLESS Pogba wants to wait a while for Real Madrid to come calling. Either way, he won't be at Juventus long term. Serie A is tier 4 these days with the very best players preferring La Liga, Bundesliga and the Premier League.

Serie A, in general, is a retirement home.

You gonna have to do better than that Riola if you want to kill my muppet dream. I still believe he is coming. Its a matter of time now the Euros are over.

Yes my thoughts too.

If the Pogba rumor is real I am sure his agent has had contact with people from United. But in that case I do find it hard to believe that there would be a leak that the agreement was made.

Why though?

If these talks took place which they most likely have done, they involved Woodward and Raiola. Both these men leak stuff to the press all the time.

Leaking it in the press might serve several purposes. It prepares Juventus for the bid, and maybe flushes out interest from other clubs or has been the case with this one cooled Reals interest as they can't/won't compete with the fees being reported.

Its up to Juve. They must know they will never receive more for Pogba than what we are offering this summer. Its then wether its worth it for them to have him for another year or better to cash in while the his stock and our needs are their highest.

If you honestly believe that, then more fool you. I guarantee you we will win a CL before Juventus will.

Guarantee whatever you want Nostradamus, I'm just simply stating facts. They are in the CL and we are not.

You make perfect sense with your argument but that is assuming a lot of things regarding Pogba whereas we don't much about his desires in reality. He will leave Juventus at some point, I'm just afraid they're using Utd as a means to get Real Madrid's attention.

Leaks happen all the time especially today with so much social media in play like Twitter.

Raiola couldn't possibly say yes we've been talking to United for weeks and have everything agreed before Juve has received an offer.

He came close to that when we chased Mkhitaryan.

I'm seriously at the point of thinking that this is going to be yet another transfer saga that ends in absolute heart break. Perhaps even worse this time as we appear to have come so close and could yet fail again. I at times wonder how many more of these crushing sagas this community can take.

If we have offered 100m pounds+ and juve are stupid enough to reject, i'd hardly call that a failure. We can't control peoples actions.

Yep.

The frustrating thing its it seems to only happen to us. Other big clubs seem to mediate big transfers relatively smoothly. With us its one perpetual cock-tease of a rollercoaster that often ends in heart break.

I hope this is resolved one way or another very soon, would rather just look forward to the new season instead of spamming my f5 key and praying.

I think people need just common sense and logic to see that there is a major obstacle for this transfer to happen even if Real and other teams give up on singing Pogba: it doesn't make much sense from his perspective to sign for United this summer. Juventus are in the CL and have (arguably) a better team than United. United are in EL and there is uncertainty about their future. Pogba can stay at Juve and see what happens next season. If everything's going well under Mourinho and if Real/Barca/Bayern do not want him next summer he may choose to return to United. Why do it now and play in Europa League? Does it make sense? Financially wise it may make sense but Juventus can sort of compensate it somehow.

Because it could be a risk if everything goes wrong.

But as I said in my first post about it I understand that it happens.

Not sure how current this is, as I can't find the original article but bid rejected apparently:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/07/11/manchester-united-transfer-news-and-rumours-live/

If true, can't see us going much higher.

Not so sure about this. If Ed and Jose want him so desperately, they might be able to squeeze out a couple millions more from Utd.

Yeah what's 45k? Only 50% of what Juve is offering, peanuts.

Not peanuts, but not so much more for it to make it a no brainer based on the salary alone.

We have to be philosophical about this tragic situation. A helpful quote from Goethe's The Sorrows of Young Werther:

"Must it ever be thus, that the source of our happiness must also be the fountain of our misery? The full and ardent sentiment which animated my heart with the love of nature, overwhelming me with a torrent of delight, and which brought all paradise before me, has now become an insupportable torment, a demon which perpetually pursues and harrasses me. And on top of all that shit, we f*cked up the Pogba signing."
