Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

Is Raiola truly ITK? He didn't even cap of with confirmation inbound ffs

And it will be hilarious to see those complaining about the fee all of a sudden be outraged that we aren't spending our budget to sign the best players we can.

I know you get a few blithering idiots complaint about fees for anyone. But I don't think people saying 'we shouldn't spend £100m on Pogba' are saying 'we shouldn't spend £100m on anyone' just are not sure if the player is worth it and if the money should be spent elsewhere.

I'm very ambivalent to this transfer, I think I would rather we signed him than that we didn't, but I'm not really fussed if we don't and think he's over-rated and will leave people disappointed.

Juve were always going to offer him a new contract. This isn't hinting at his decision. Now that doesn't mean that he will go to United either. Just pointing out that the offer is irrelevent to his decision to leave or stay.

Careful the 90k are net, the 250k are gross. Cut it down of 46% and it's not too far, 90k vs 135k.

Then what's with all the media reporting he's almost tripling his wages? Surely the media don't make this up!

oh, well, ship's sailed. He'd never have lived up to 120m price tag. I'm relieved for the young man.

What is his agent supposed to come out and say? "Juventus don't really want to keep Paul and they'll probably accept Man Utd's offer. Let' be honest, Serie A is a s**t league and Paul is bored of winning a meaningless league every year without competition. Hurry up and put your official bid on the table please, Mr Woodward."

Think about it. He has to say that Juve will try and keep Pogba for a few different reasons. One, it ensures United actually do offer what they're promising. Two, it keeps him onside with Juventus for any future negotiations. Three, sometimes agents are misquoted OR even if they're not, like to keep the press guessing whilst the real work is done behind closed doors. Remember the Zlatan BS? The same agent said he wasn't definitely coming to United and could go elsewhere.

This kind of thing has happened with every big transfer, ever. It even happens with managerial appointments. Who remembers just a few months ago when a few here were convinced Mourinho was going back to Real Madrid, some thought he was off to PSG and some even thought he was joining Everton!

Chill, we are in a very strong position. Again, it's all posturing.

Juventus are basically showing their fans they're doing everything to keep him, while secretly they probably will accept our offer. It's damage limitation. Changes nothing really. I don't think Pogbas price is going to rise anytime soon. They will want to probably spend the money - and this narrative buys people time. Him rejecting a new contract is as good as him saying he wants to leave (should he reject the contract). Meaning that Pogba won't have to actually tell Juventus he wants to leave. It will be implied by a rejection of the extension.

I think it's called media manipulation. Unless we triple for real but nobody at United has 250k net (Rooney is on that, gross GBP).

you all are such Drama Queens. Riaola taking the piss to squeeze a few extra pennies, he's coming lads. Riaola surely doesn't want him to sign a new contract with that bonus he stands to get:lol:

LADS: This is NOT NEW NEWS. It's already been said that Pogba's been offered a new deal. Plus Raiola's posturing that's all. Calm yourselves.

Yep, it's the old dance in which the buying club and the agent are cast as the evil ones. If Pogba stays, we'll be hearing "I never thought of leaving" from him, and "We never considered selling our legendary player Whatsisname" from Juve.

Raiola did a similar comment with Ibra aswell. He's just keeping the media guessing, I am not worried at all.

Oh well, at least Liverpool fans will go back to saying that they think he's a good player.

100M for Pogba is a bit much, at best, he is a 50/60M player.
Spent it on three quality players at 33M each.

Sneijder?
Thiago?
Kroos?
Cesc?
Vidal?
Sanches?

Have you not learnt anything yet?

Context is important here. We weren't in nearly as a strong position with any of them as we are now. For one, two of them were chased under David Moyes. Sneijder was chased under SAF, who rarely splashed out big money on one player. You could make a list like that for literally any other big club, it doesn't prove anything.

Not really broken. Just sick of the games that's played over these transfers.
I've gone from failing to see a place for Mata in a Pogba side and being sold to "We really have no number 10 if Pogba stays so Mata could be crucial."
Everything gets coloured with every " He has close ties with so and so" twitter bot and journos being used by clubs and agents to set an agenda.

I hear ya, but we deal with this rubbish every single window, I for one have become completely immune to this bi annual shitshower

Some of you need to stop hanging off every tweet or article as if it affects your personal self-esteem.

I hate this line of thought. So 3x £33m gets you in today's market Benteke, Deeney and Mane. Terrific.

My favourite thing about this thread is people coming in a week later to say they reckon £100m is a bit much.

Well trodden ground at this point

If that's all that United can aspire, then it's in trouble. Point is, Pogba is not worth 100M, and is a huge gamble that is better spent on other quality players.

£33m won't even buy you Paul Ross these days. Or his cardboard cutout from Amazon.

Apart from Zlatan had already decided that he was leaving PSG.

Pogba doesn't want to leave, and Juve don't want to sell that's our problem.

I don't get why people think this is a saga?

we haven't even made an offer. lol.

all we've done is talk to his agent about a possible move. that's it. that's the whole point of an agent. he talks about the future of his client.

So much negativity here, this is the process for every high profile transfer, its Juventus, of course they will try to hold on to Pogba but with Magnificent Mino on our side I'm confident Jose will get his man. Relax lads, its happening

This is Raiola trying to get more money than he deserve. Fergie was 100% right about him. That said, this is done if Raiola has not gone completely crazy. I dont think he has tbh.

Yup. This. Raiola's latest tweet is a lesson in classic negotiation strategy. Earlier, United offered what they did to beat off a real competitor - Real Madrid. Now that Madrid's not on the table any more, an "imagined" competitor must be created. Now, with the money involved, only PSG, City or Real can compete. Everyone knows City and PSG aren't in for him, so the next best is Juventus itself. The threat of "he could stay" will ensure United continue to strain every sinew to make this happen.

It happens in my business all the time. If we undercut competition on prices and know that we're the best commercially, customers bring up the bugbear of "my budget is only XXX". It's so common that I barely give it a thought when I see these artificial competitors being created...

Well Raiola wont come out and say this is his dream club and it would be a traversty if he didnt try to get him the United move or whatever he said about Mkhitaryan.

Because long transfer threads tend to bring out the most idiotic comments. People want their transfer delivered gift wrapped and if it doesn't happen they start saying idiotic things.

It suits both parties for this type of comment to go out - Juve supporters see it as club trying to keep him. Agent knows Juve cant pay same amount as Utd.

Its all posturing.

It all depends on how you define worth and value in today's market. Who are these quality players you'd prefer us to spend the money on?
