I'd love messi at United.... I think a cheeky bid is needed. We'd get 5 good years out of him. AND...

WAIT FOR IT....

No Rooney

Messi hasn't been the best player in Barca this year. I rather have Pogba. Pogba is pure class - he'd be our new Captain Marvel.
I seriously question whether people on here have even seen Pogba play much. It would be bizarre to even choose Zidane over Messi. Messi has 41 goals and 23 assists for Barcelona alone this season. So his goal scoring AND play-making is on another level to the Zidane's of this world and the Pogba's. Messi can win you the premiership. Pogba couldn't. What even could Pogba offer over Messi? Height?

I really don't think Brie Larsen could play him in a film though.

I'd say Suarez had a better season in Barca then Messi this year. I'd even argue if Neymar had a better season. They hardly noticed when Messi were out back in October. They outplayed Real Madrid with Messi on the bench, after his injury in November. Barcelona would probably win the league without Messi as well.

If I'm suppose to build a dreamteam for one game or next season only - I'd take Messi over most players, if not all, in the world. Messi would probably cost us £200M. Atleast. Pogba is probably priced around Matrials range. If, and when, we splash the cash, we got to buy someone for the future as well. I'm all positive to get Zlatan - he's free agent, and we all know he won't stay for more than 2 seasons. If we'd go for someone like Messi - we'd be talking about a 5-year contract, atleast £300k a week. I really don't know if Messi would maintain his current level for that long.

I don't know if it's true, but I'm under the impression that Messi has an increasing injury rate - I feel I've heard once a month the last year that Messi got some kind of injury keeping him out a game. He's been performing at top level since he was 18 - he's now 28. How many good seasons do we need to justify a £200M pricetag?
Back to Pogba - He's big, his black, and his name rhymes with Drogba.. He probably got at least 6 good years to come. In Pogbas role, we now got Rooney, Fellaini (?) and Herrera.

Suarez arguable but not Neymar. People only want to look at goals, but who was making all those defense splitting passes... oh it was Messi

I do think you need to google Captain Marvel.
Most fans, not born this millennium, remember Captain Marvel as one of our greatest. Great vision, good shot, and the attitude of a Captain, with capital C.

I know who Bryan Robson is! I was just kidding.

lllllolllll a Jose player then. But Messi is this generations Maradona. As he gets old he'll just revert to a Zidane level. Less solo goals but still insane dribbling, passing, ability to dictate and produce moments of magic to settle games. If Zidane smoked and still voted best in the world, Messi has half a chance despite being injury prone

We should take that argue to another topic, but hey:
I've only seen 5-6 Barca games in La Liga this season. It might be unfair, as they've played much more entertaining then they get credit for. 2-3 seasons ago, Pep-era, they were the dullest team to watch. They had like 5-6 Harlem Globetrotters moments each game, but the rest of the game were just five-a-side around, waiting for opposition to make an error or something. Back then - Messi were the brain behind most of the entertainment.

This season Neymar has been just as entertaining/good as Messi with his trickery and take-ons. Were Messi tracks in, and distributes the ball, Neymar tracks more down the wing for a 1on1 situation, often ending in a cross. As I just googled it my self: According to "whoscored", Neymar created 25 more chances than Messi this season. I don't know how they count these "chances created".

Suarez has impressed me with his ability to convert chances. He scores those Zidane-ish volleys, he heads them crosses in, he converts those through balls (many from Messi..), he beats men and curls them in. Suarez arguably has been the best striker in the world this season.

To make this post relevant - We need Pogba. He's an investment for the future!

Matt Law from The Telegraph writes that Mourinho wants Pogba!
Barely mentioned at the end of the article.Would think that if he had real info he'd make a big deal of it.Journos know that United fans will be pissed after hearing the Aubameyang rumours so they're probably going to try to sell even more bullshit than usual, Pogba, Griezmann etc.

Matt Law was good with Chelsea news during Mou recent reign their, right?

I think the problem with Pogba was/is Mino Raiola.

Also, It seems like he is the issue at the moment in the Zlatan deal as well which is so easy to close as we're the only club interested.
Imagine what he's going to do for Pogba with so many clubs interested. I doubt we'll bend over to the cnut so I'll not get my hopes up.

How reliable is Matt Law supposed to be? I hope it is not simply a case of putting 2+2 together from City pulling out of any race to sign him, and Mourinho's past comments on him.

Once we finalize the Zlatan deal i hope we can focus our aims on trying to get Pogba back. He would be the core of United for years, sadly he left us. (I shouldn't need to remind many about that)

Just imagine what Martial, Pogba, Zlatan and maybe Januzaj could do in a front four next season - that would be dreamy.

I said it on the newbie forums, Pogba would push united to be contenders in my opinion, if there's even the slightest chance he would come here then Utd should do everything in there power to get him, he's an absolute beast and would have the same if not more of an impact that toure had at city

Apparently it's a done deal......but nothing will be official until July because Ibrahimovic will get 4-5m from PSG as "loyalty bonus".

Januzaj???? Really???? I'd go Jesse or the All over you like a rashford first.

If we take the same attitude that Real Madrid so often do and decide to flex our financial muscle to show the world how great we are, then we can definitely get him. We can break the world record transfer, we can offer obscene wages. It all depends on whether Real/Barcelona/City are after him too, and how serious our interest is. I must say it would be nice to just once go all out for a world class signing; one that isn't being forced out of their current club, but one that is highly sought after . Just once, it would be amazing for us to really go for it and come out on top. Not only because he'd be a massive addition to our team, but it'd help to shut up cocky rival fans who have been belittling us during the last 3 years .

Well if Januzaj gets his form back we could be in for a real treat. I dont think he's played with Martial yet so a connection can be developed. Rashford wouldnt play infront of Zlatan or the RW

I wonder how many thousand views one causal line at the end of the zlatan article got them

Anyway screw the world record. If we sign Pogba I will never mock our offical noodle sponsor again.

Pogba would be the dream signing for me and would make sense as Jose with Ibra and Bailly in will have had made a huge difference to us in defence midfield and attack .

Plus Pogba and Ibra are very accustomed to winning and the more winners we have in our side the better. The days of having 8 or 9 frequent winners in our side have faded away the past three years and I feel it has had a lot to do with our recent struggles.

I don't think there's a player available that would so profoundly impact United as Pogba would.

He would be absurdly expensive. I mean to the point his fee could curtail transfer spending for a window or two. With the inevitable inflation from the new TV deal, he could cost as much as Bale did. Worth it though.

He'd sort out so much. He's young. Of retained he'd be a long term pillar. He's big and physical. He's excellent with the ball. He is showing to be pretty versatile, but is world class box-to-box already. He'd be goddamn ridiculous in a Mourinho side.

I could get over shelling out that kind of money for a player that was on the books as a youth player.

Most posters on here seem to regard Pogba as a cross between a fillet steak and Marilyn Monroe, but I wonder how many are Serie A watchers and how many are judging by his greatest hits on YouTube.

My memory of him from underage games at United is that he was capable of spectacular skills but didn't always influence games consistently. If he's going to be the mainstay of our midfield, he has to show up for every game.

100% agree. As I said earlier in the thread - if he costs £100m its money well spent because we either A) recoup all/most/maybe make a profit on the fee in a few years or B) have a world class midfielder on our team for a decade.

The only way it would turn out badly is if injuries seriously derailed his career. But that can apply to any transfer and isn't a good reason to not pull the trigger when there are no prior injury concerns.

Frankly I don't think it's going to happen but if it's possible I hope we get it done.
