Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

The only reason the price tag matters is the scrutiny that comes with it. Pogbas performances will be dissected after every match. This will put added pressure on both Mourinho and Pogba to deliver, because if we lose, there will be an army of people ready to scapegoat the most expensive player in the world and the manager that agreed to buy him. The whole environment around the club will turn into a circus.

Weren't we the same with Madrid and De Gea?
I saw people predictably getting annoyed by Madrid and some very angry reactions(which is understandable when facing with the possibility of losing a key player) but Juventuz are currently making it seem as if they've reached RAWK's level of bitterness which is quite confusing to me right now.

I mean I expected bad reaction and people not being pleased about all this and Man United over there, I even expected some bitter reactions from some but reaching RAWK level of bitterness where they spew whatever drivel they can think of at us was totally unexpected.

True, but AC Milan under Berlusconi is basically the same like Manchester United under SAF. It monopolises most of their history. Actually its even worse. AC Milan were crushing to the ground before Berlusconi took over.
Yes but like with Fergie nowhere near to the extent that the Abramovich era dominates Chelsea's history.

You were spot on when you said Inter and Chelsea. Juve and United are probably the closest as well due to our sheer dominance in the domestic trophies. Milan and Liverpool being the European leaders who've fallen from their perch in recent times makes them the most apt comparison.

"Pogba will sign for United" "Pogba prefers Madrid"

If a tweet is wrong it will be forgotten, if a tweet turns out to be right a journalist can build a reputation out of a story like this.

We are going to see so much crap and guess work in the media over the next few weeks. It is going to get very dull very fast.

Same things happens with ITK's on forums. They spout the latest rumors, then if a couple turn out to be true people fall all over themselves hailing the person as the new messiah, completely ignoring the ones they got wrong or the fact that they were not even the original source for any of the news.

Best part is how angry people get when you point out the holes in some "ITK's" information. On another forum yesterday someone posted all this information they had received from someone and they even claimed "you heard it here first" When I pointed out that none of his information was actual new, that it all had been already been in the media and on twitter, people went nuts, giving me shit about it.

The best part is the ones who can't tell the difference between saying that the information is already out there and being shared and saying that you don't believe the transfers will happen.

How is this even possible? Thought we had agreed personal terms
They could have agreed personal terms too, just because the papers are reporting ours doesn't mean it will happen.

It might be a positive thing having that price tag.. a guy like Pogba has huge amount of talent but arguably bigger ego than his talent deserves right now. By having all this pressure on him, it would make him have to work harder and elevate his game to justify his price tag. He'd want to live up to being the worlds most expensive player.

He'll go to Madrid I reckon. To be with Zizou. Lord.

I insist, its very unfair to compare Liverpool to AC Milan. The latter bought their way to success (although to be fair they did produced some great talent of their own). At one time there were barely any top players who would even contemplate going elsewhere rather then AC Milan. I started following football in the late 80s so I won't be surprised if someone like @Joga Bonito will come out saying that I am wrong because in 1822 there was someone who did that. However if I am not mistaken Berlusconi was the first sugar daddy of football. If that's not the case then he's one of the first.

The funny thing is that these days he keep moaning of how expensive football is and how unfair it had become

Kind of ironic Fergie spent his last years with us talking about value in the market and then costs the club £100m on a decision not to play a talented youth player in the first team.

It's hard not to get the feeling that a matching bid from Real Madrid will have this done and dusted.

I think this is what the player and his agent are waiting for.

Think that's always been the case. We are banking on over bidding them, Madrid will try low ball them as much as possible. All depends on Pogba at the end of the day.

Evra is one of those players, I'd have back here in a heartbeat. The fact he was sold, yet Rojo got game time last season in his position makes me cry. He must be great in the dressing room. Such a big character.

If you look at it from a neutral point of view, he is a much better fit at Madrid isn't he? Galactico signing. Top player. Huge fee. All of that.

He could be a hero at United though!

I think Juventuz are masking their insecurity and grief with humour.
Pretty much this !!!

They're trying to use sarcasm and all these "humors" to sound less desperate when in truth they're boiling over because of all these speculation about Pogba coming to us(even though he could still stay there).

I was hoping we could still have that mutual respect but it seems things went a bit tits up.

I wonder what SAF is thinking by now. All his value and United way talk look silly considering he allowed Pogba to go on free because he preferred playing golden oldies, Cleverley, Ando and co instead.
I reckon it's a bit more complicated than that mate. Obviously I don't know any more than you about what transpired, but it's highly unlikely that a manager as shrewd as Ferguson thought Cleverley was a better option than Pogba.

It's far more likely that Raiola was an ass clown and wanted more money than United were prepared to offer. Bear in mind that we were still trapped in the austerity years at that point (when we were buying bargain-bin rejects like Valencia and Obertan).

The annoying thing is that, now we've got loads of money, we've blown it on players who aren't fit to lace Pogba's boots, and even gave our next prodigy, Januzaj, £50k a week to ensure there was no repeat of the Pogba debacle!

My friend who works at United (please don't attack me, he's been wrong on some stuff before and bang on the money on other stuff - he doesn't work in the canteen either by the way!) has finally replied to my many excited texts and has confirmed that we are 100% in for Pogba and in talks with both Juventus and his agent.

This might actually happen!

Great sense of humour over there at that Juventus forum.

We should have Woodward send over an offer for some of their posters. After all they will get bigger exposure here, plus we have a noodle sponsor.

I agree that Rojo was a massive downgrade but Evra had kinda regressed for us in his last years. I remember in that Moyes season we conceeded a lot of goals from Left Back.

Still an amazing personality and player for us. Wish he joins us in some form or capacity.

Although it's obvious Pogba would rather go to RM I don't see the logic from their perspective. They have Kroos and Modric as creative midfielders, and Pogba's wage would be higher than any of those two if they match our offer. It would possibly upset the team chemistry, and it would be insane by RM to sell Kroos when he is just about to enter his peak after a great CL and Euro run. Time will tell.

How is this even possible? Thought we had agreed personal terms
Nothing stopping Madrid from also agreeing personal terms. It would then be down to Juventus as to whether they want to sell (and to who), and the player as to who he wants to play for.

If he ends up going to Madrid, I won't feel too bad. It'll be another Galactico wage for them to burden and a huge chunk of cash. Their pursuit of shiny things is, and will continue to be, their downfall.

Pogba will leave sooner or later, whether it's here or Real Madrid or even Barcelona in a season or two. Juventus fans may as well accept that.

He's thrived in a league which isn't the most competitive. When he comes to the hardest , most competitive league in the world with such a huge price tag and the added media scrutiny it might just be too much for a 23 yr old.

It will be a huge test for him and for Mourinho. No doubt both have the ego to potentially handle the situation. But you need results to go your way too. I'm just vary of the media attention for the wrong reasons. Anything less than the title will be branded a failurr

Half of them have Pogba as avatars. I understand them, but their #jokes become kinda cringeworthy.

I wouldn't spend a fortune on any player who has never scored more than 8 goals in the league. But hey, like many on this thread I will just pretend that I don't care about the kind of money we spend on players who may or may not justify their price tags.

Have any midfielders left Juve this season? They have signed Pjanic , havent they?

Looks like they already knew someone would be leaving and needed a replacement?

The funny thing is that we're reading each others forums and watching the reactions

He is much more than just a goal scorer. Midfielders are more than about stats.

Why should we act so flattered though if he does sign? We are technically just as big as Madrid as a business and Pogba is the type of player that we should be signing if we're to be playing the likes of Madrid in CL finals again.

I'm surely not the only one that doesn't believe this will end well? A world record fee for a young, relatively inconsistent player who is thriving in a weaker league?

I cannot see a single situation where he lives up to the profile of this transfer with us. Loved him in the youth team, Fergie's decision will forever remain a blot on his record but I really think we can't win here.
