Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

Totally agree with this.

Pogba is good but because of the silly money anything less that ripping apart the league will be considered a failure especially if TFM turns out to be a consistent performer

They are different types of player. If anything their games should suit each other. TFM is a very good young talent but he doesn't have the high level of artistry. He's very strong defensively and TFM, Pogba and Pereira or Rothwell/Harrop/Weir in the future may be very strong.

We can't expect someone that excels at defending to suddenly be the one we look to going forward - for creativity etc. He's not Pogba. He doesn't have the tricky footwork and he's probably doesn't have Pogbas ability to manipulate the ball either. He certainly hasn't shown he can strike a ball like Pogba.

Surprised people are still pulling Madrid into this. It's pretty clear Perez isn't convinced and nothing will happen (regardless of Zidane's wishes) unless Perez changes his mind. That's not going to happen.

On the other side of this story you have an agent who is keen to maximise his asset -there is no doubt his advice will be move to Utd, profile will raise in comparison to playing in Italy, get a serious increase in salary, and after all that we'll do it all again in 4 years in order to get a move to Spain.

Tofu Monster has nothing to do with Pogba coming into the team. They don't play anywhere close to the same role in midfield, nor are they at they same level in their careers. If anything, they would complement each other brilliantly if TFM fulfills his potential (and you think he is a DM). But that's getting way ahead of ourselves, and besides, Pogba is ready to start now.

With all the money in the game I can only see transfer value going up. Do you think real would sell Bale for €100 million right now? I think if Pogba fulfils his potential in the next few years then its a shrewd investment at the very least.
Despite all the money, can you see someone paying 150m in a couple of years? I dont.

Muller is sponsored by Adidas. So is Pogba. Who is Adidas trademark player for the future? Not Muller, but Pogba. Adidas made that choice, we only have to wonder why. It's because Muller brandship power is too local, and too tied to the German market. Pogba on the other hand, appeals to almost everyone in the world. He played in England, in Italy, he's French of African descent. And he's good.

Maybe I am underestimating Muller's branding power, but so far, that's how I perceive things.
Brilliant point

Does it matter if nobody will pay more for him in 3 years? We're not Atletico...

Pogba turns a potential title winning team into an era dominating team, he's actually ridiculous.

I agree, especially if no-one else is willing to match less than that now.

It's definitely more of a spunk job than an investment, but he should hold most of his value in fairness. If he does decide to up sticks for Madrid in 3 years, we'll be very likely to recoup most of the fee.

I can easily see 150 mil being the transfer record in a few years , if Pogba realises his potential and Madrid are looking for a long term replacement to Modric then yes I definitely can. He has the potential to be one of the best midfielders in the world.

Have you ever seen TFM play? He's nothing like Pogba, and never will be.

When Pogba left for Juventus he was not even half as good as TFM is right now at the same age. Agree they might end up playing different roles in midfield but still it doesnt justify 100m price tag

So strange how people worry about the Glazers money so much.

If you don't want Pogba at any cost, frankly you're weird.
Agreed.

They have taken money out of the club for years. If Pogba fires us to a league title or three, who cares much he costs?

Spend spend spend!

It's such a shame that the other midfielders available are so much less of a player pogba is, it's not funny. If there was other quality mids available I'd say don't get pogba for that money but there isn't so Pogba is an absolute priority. The guy is a freak

Can we get Adidas to sponsor us with some cash for this signing? After all it is their poster boy we are paying for.

@Acquire Me , could you ask them?

Most likely yes but I can see transfer money being stable now. The market is too inflated and not sustainable imo

I thought Di Marzio was an ITK like Tancredi who couldn't be trusted, yet everyone seems to be treating his word as gospel over the last few weeks. Or does it depend on what he's got to say?

It is, I'm interested to see where it will go. Lots of new cash floating round, so who knows if it will get even worse or if the bubble will burst?

Di Marzio is nothing like Tancredi, he literally gave live live updates of the Darmian transfer last season along with live tweeting of Darmian's medical with pics. In this case, his source is most probably the Pizzaman himself.

He is probably the only ITK with a track record to prove it. Especially when it comes to players from Serie A and players affiliated with Raiola.

Can't believe people are moaning about the price. Aside of Neymar, we will be buying arguably the highest rated young player in world football. He can easily be among the top 5 players in the world in a few years, which in itself would justify the fee (consider that we haven't had a player in that bracket since Ronaldo). Madrid unfortunately set the benchmark for transfers like this when they bought Ronaldo and Bale... we won't get him cheaper.

I am not sure about Pogba but I think this is bollocks, TFM is not even close to Pogba's level, he left here and went straight in to the Juve first team , TFM would not even get close.

Teams need to be interested for that to happen.

That's because no one is going to pay what Everton are looking for. At least with Mkhitaryan we offered close to what Dortmund wanted after they decided they would sell him and Juventus is supposedly going to be offered 100m.

No one has showed serious interest on him.
Yeah that's true, can't blame Raiola for not moving Lukaku when no one wants him

Must in the minority here that wouldn't be ecstatic to have him back. £100 million is an obscene amount of money for someone who has already shown a reluctance to stick around here and force his way into the team. He left once, give it three years and he'll be off again.

See this is my thoughts too, but I am being swayed.
Although the fee is crazy, and I can understand these sentiments, what WC midfielder could you get for €50m or even €70m? The best you could hope for really is a Martial type signing which could turn out great. But not an established WC player.

Most players as talented or as established as Pogba are already at big clubs that will never sell, and we're not all that enticing without CL footie and PL win in a few years.

If its true that agreement is reached in principle with Pogba - does that mean that Juve have given us permission to speak to him?

by right, club needs to give permission to buying club to talk to player, but the world is not by right anymore

Juventus of then wasnt similar to the Juventus of now, and their level at TFM's age is much closer than you portray, with TFM actually having a better season than Pogba had, who had dealt with a long injury and lost some form. Apart from them, they're completely different players, which makes the comparison quite pointless.

People saying he will move away within three years... Who is going to pay the monstrous fee required to do that when we already paid 100 million pounds for him? We'd want at least a big profit as he will probably be more proven and a bigger name by then thanks to our commercial prowess and hopefully the success he has brought us.

Say you're right and he leaves in 3 years. So what? It would mean he has performed well enough to attract interest and we won't sell him for less that we acquired him for. 3 years of having one of the best central midfielders in the world and we are fecking loaded. Why not?

We went years not investing in the squad properly and ignoring our midfield, this is the kind of signing we need. Who cares about the cost, the club obviously has the money and it's better spent on a player than in someone's pocket.

I'll believe it when I see it though.

Sorry guys but as a Juve fan I still find all this hilarious!
And I'm a bit shocked that some of you are already discussing about his shirt number!

Last year he was a Barca player, a month ago Di Marzio talked for days about him to Real... now it's your turn!

Same exact story every year and then he always stays. :D

As I often said here on RedCafe, I believe that the same will happen this summer, for the simple fact that Paul is happy at Juve (today he tweeted about the "cool" new away jersey, a few days ago he thanked Juve on Instagram after they wished him good luck for the France game... to be honest I doubt that a player with the intention to leave would do this, I guess he would just stay silent and wait...)

We'll see if I will be right or wrong. :)
If he really leaves I will say sorry. :D

Good night everyone. :)
I understand you don't want Pogba to leave, but this is ridiculous. Why wouldn't he thank his employer (Juventus are STILL his employer) when they wish him good luck for a game? If Man Utd wished him good luck today, even if he's playing for Juventus, do you really believe he wouldn't thank them? Isn't that basic courtesy? To thank someone wishing you good luck?

I think Mou will give preference to his 4 targets first. I don't think Pogba is one of them. With his transfer fee, we can surely get a world class defender or two..

Just for arguments sake, who? And why is the defence more important than our disaster of a midfield.

Pogba is the 4th man.

Sign him up, spend the cash, do whatever it takes to be back bullying the league...Pogba is a beast, he would help to push our team to the next level and add some swag back. We've had too many namby pamby players, this lad has grit and fight...get it sorted out Woodward
