Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

This is moving fast. I mean the thread, not the transfer obviously.

I'd agree, but what if Miki plays there and we buy another winger?
Even better. Miki has pretty good work rate and is what Jose wants of a #10. I'm not sure we're linked with a winger tho. And if we go with what Jose said - identifying 4 positions to fix, the right wing is surely one of them. We have got a striker, CB and by the looks of it the next position which we will spend a lot on is CM.

Seems either the #10 is secondary to his plans or already has Rooney/Pogba in there.

Not sure why this is contradictory with anything I've said? Keane, Iniesta, Xavi, Modric and many others are obviously brilliant world class players. I was saying as good as they are, they are not worth the Messi and Ronaldos of this world. We are paying Ronaldo money for an at best, Modric?

So we are under an obligation to spend a 100 millions? If we can't get them, fair enough, nobody is putting a gun on our head. Bayern never spent more than 50 millions for a player and they're not doing too badly are they? Barcelona before Neymar and Suarez did not either and I don't recall them going all cuckoo and bidding crazy money for the Pogbas of this world? Or why go so far, us pre the ridiculousness we are seeing now were not exactly engaged in the d*ck waving contest of today. Of course there are unique circumstances to each of those examples but English clubs post 2010 seem to be the only ones in the planet whose only answer to building a team is throwing money right and left.

I explained the Bayern situation and I am not going to constantly repeat myself.

Barca before Neymar did one one of the worst deals in history when they paid £60m for Ibra and gave Eto also. Or have you forgotten that? They won't produce players like Xavi, Iniesta and Puyol etc for a while so have realised they have to spend.

Yes because Real Madrid haven't thrown money since 2009.

How did Barca get Suarez and Neymar? With stones? How did PSG build a good team?

Juve and Bayern are different because they in one way leagues. Roma who finished third sold one of their best players to Juve. Do you think Liverpool would sell us? Do you think City would sell us Kompany for £22m? Like Dortmund did with Hummels. Hummels, Neuer and Lewandowski only wanted to stay in Germany. So what was the most likely move?

For me, about "Real's interest" in Pogba, is now not viable. If they were going to do a deal with Juve, tehy would have used Moratta as a selling tool.

I believe, Real wanted Pogba. Juve said £100m, knowing United will offer that. Real replied, "we'll give you £50m-£60m cash, Moratta's buyback is £25m, so we won't activate that clause. So, you have £60m + £25m Moratta clause, so there's £85m". Juve declined, Real got in a huff and activated the buyback clause.

So since Moratta resigned, the Pog to Real links have gone very quiet. Truly believe, we are the only team with a realistic chance to get him here.

That actually sounds plausible. You would imagine if they wanted Pogba Moratta as you say would have been involved to sweeten the deal and save them a few quid.

If we actually pull this off then I can see us going all out next summer for Griezemann to replace Ibrahimovic.

If Ibra has a good season, I believe we'll extend for a further year.

I think we can only pry Griezmann away if Simeone leaves.

Why we waiting until after the Euro's to bid for him? I can't shake it out my head that it's all crap, because if we can agree with the player himself while he's playing in the Euro's, then why wait until after the Euro's to bid for him? Makes no sense.

Football still uses Fax machines, they don't communicate by telephone so it slows down communications at the Euros.

Ed must've promised Raiola a lifetime supply of prosciutto di parma to be landing all these signings.

Could be even better with Matuidi if the reports are true:

De Gea
Darmian - Smalling - Bailly - Shaw
Pogba - Matuidi
Mkhitaryan - Rooney - Martial
Ibra

That's a team that can win the title even next season.
:nono::nono::nono: ..... Don't spoil the party
Make a 3 man midfield... and put Herrera somewhere in it

He's coming home, he's coming home, He's coming, Pogbas coming home !

(to the tune of England Euro 96 song)

Still quite embarrassing to let him go for free and then pay triple figures to get him back

I fully expect to wake up tommorow to headlines of "Madrid have offer accepted for Pogba".
Goodnight lads.

Funny isn't it? Thread title has Di Marzio and you instead of checking Di Marzio http://gianlucadimarzio.com/calciom...a-ce-una-base-dintesa-col-giocatore-le-cifre/

assuming people jumped on that whoever's tweet. Good riddance.

I failed to make much sense of your reply.

I'm not calling the Pogba news out as rubbish, I'm calling Tancredi out as a journalist who many on the caf have dismissed over time. To then see his tweet about 20x over the space of a few pages it made me realise many people here bash a certain journos credability when it's bad news for us and then praise the same jorno and get behind the story when it's positive news for us.

Tancredi is the type of journo that does giveaways when he gets to 130k followers and he just stinks of desperation and clickbait.

Toodle-pip.

So in theory our strongest line up would be;

DDG

Shaw
Bailley
Smalling
Darmian

Schneiderlin
Schweinsteiger
Pogba

Mkhitaryan
Ibrahimovic
Martial

Who cares, it's not our money.

If we paid Hazard's agent the fees he wanted, he'd probably be a United player now.
I really dislike the "who cares, it's not my money" stance. Clearly, there are consequences on how it affects the rest of our spending. Not just this transfer period, but our short-term future as well. That being said, I'd be ecstatic if we landed Pogba. Btw, we dodged a bullet with Hazard.

The fee is absolutely absurd, but the fee was ridiculous with Martial too. I think this is just what you have to expect now when acquiring young stars for their prime years. Ultimately, if this is what they need to do to acquire a player of this level, then they might as well put the financial juggernaut that they've built to use.

I'm interested to see how Pogba fits. I completely agree with those who've said this necessitates a 4-3-3. Pogba would be neutered in a double pivot or any sort of midfield 2. The Juventus midfield of Marchisio/Pogba/Vidal/Pirlo was beautiful to watch, and they had the luxury of picking just about any combination of the 3. Here, I could see Carrick/Schneiderlein/Pogba working (Pogba and Schneiderlein would compensate for Carrick's immobility much like Juve's other mids made up for Pirlo's), but you'd need someone to spell and eventually take over for Carrick. I don't think we really have that player...maybe that's what's behind the Ruben Neves link.

If this does spell a move to a 4-3-3, this would be the final nail in the coffin in terms of Rooney consistently starting, right?

If Schneiderlin and Schweini pick up their form for us, and the latter picks up his fitness, that's a brilliant line up. Darmian needs to improve too, but we can play TFM, Valencia or Varela at right back too.

Then on the bench we'd still have the likes of Herrera, Rashford, TFM (if he doesn't start), Rooney, Memphis potentially Mata and a few others. Really excited.

I'm on holiday in Australia and last night I dreamt that I was friends with Pogba and was trying to convince him to come back and join us and he said yes:angel:, then this morning I wake up to read all the news. I did also dream a couple years ago that I was friends with Draxler and I convinced him not to join Arsenal (not even sure if he was actually linked to them but anyway;))

So I am now convinced and ladies and gentlemen we can all rest assured that this will happen:D

EDIT: and you're welcome btw

I'd genuinely say that would be one of the strongest squads in Europe. Get Fabinho for RB and we'd look brilliant on paper.
