Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

True, however we got the Mourinho factor. I would've had zero confidence of attracting Pogba if a different manager was at the helm. With Mourinho I have the full confidence that we can attract any target regardless of CL football.

Madrid have Zidane, Pogba's idol.

You make it sound like we're Swansea or something. Enough of this masochistic nonsense. We're top 3 of the biggest and richest clubs in the world just about every year, and there's absolutely nothing "deluded" about thinking a player might prefer us over Real or Barca - especially one who has lived in Manchester before and spoken highly of it.

:lol::lol::lol:

If we don't sign Pogba, who do you think it would be the 4th player?

Sign Matuidi for a quarter of the price and forget Pogba. Matuidi and Schneiderlin would boss that midfield for us.

This.

Maybe "the 4th player" is some Chinese mystic's psychological play by Mourinho to get the world talking about an individual who doesn't really exist, to the point that people start telling each other, "I know who it is", "I saw him," until belief in "the 4th player" is so strong that eventually a book is written about him and they call it the Bible or the Koran or something, and a monotheistic legend begins which dominates Manchester for the next two thousand years.

not really read all this thread , but just wanted to ask, is there anybody else but me that thinks he is overrated and way to expensive?

You can say the same about every good player in the world.

I don't think he's overrated. Regarding the price tag, I couldn't care less. Not my money.

Of course not and I hope we wont pay that kind of money for him. I personally do not believe that he will be so brilliant for us that he can bring us to the next level. He's more of a player that will evolve in a well functioning team that performs already

Barcelona and Madrid are much higher up the pecking order than us. Only reason a player would choose us over them is if they were a United fan or were convinced they would get no game time at those teams. They can match us for global appeal, marketability and money whilst also being light years ahead of us from a footballing and weather sense. Not to add the allure of playing with players like Messi, Neymar, Ronaldo etc. in a league that is more technical than physical.

You are right yet lots of blinkered United fans wont see it that way

Much of it is swings and round abouts. It's easy to say that in the current climate and Madrid are lucky (in the sense the last two finals, they played Athletico - a team they know well etc). Europe annoys me with all the dodgy officials we get. They're in a good moment but moments come and go. The premiership does have good players....but it's struggled with leadership. We've seen some good managerial appointments of late - and that could be the start of a re-emergence in Europe. What also hurts the premiership is the useless wankers who play for our national team. They represent the league and show themselves every tournament. How we are perceived falls on their overpaid shoulders.

By no means are we not an attractive prospect though, any player would get their heads turned by one of the World's biggest club in a league that is a going through very exciting changes.

That being said, they're just far ahead of us at the moment. Hopefully Jose can get us back up there with one of the clubs to be at.

Barca cant afford him, the renewal with Neymar has seen to that. Madrid could, but will they match a world record fee for a player they don't really need?

We don't need to fill our squad with galactico players to win trophies, so it doesn't matter if Madrid and Barcelona are a more attractive location than us. For all their spending and dick swinging, real Madrid have won very little over the last decade and when it comes to playing against good teams they often fail to impress. We're perfectly capable of attracting the players we need to build a team good enough to compete with them in the CL.

With lack of quality plus the availability of players in the present market drives his price high.No way he's 100 M player to me, he's bit overrated atm.

Ah, the Arsenal fan has a laugh at that, of course. We may not be close on the field (to Barca and Real), but we are very close off it. The romance is still here: players dream of playing for United, Barca, Bayern and Real. While I won't deny that the latter three clubs have the biggest lure, to suggest that it's laughable that a player would choose United over the aforementioned clubs is misguided, and screams of bitterness when it comes from an Arsenal fan.

don't tell me that PSG wouldn't sell Verratti for 80m pounds. I like Pogba more but Verratti would make more sense for Mourinho to fit into starting 11..

Not laughable, but we don't exactly have much stacked in our favour. If Pogba was to choose us over Madrid, i think it would be heavily influenced by a combination of money and the fact he knows the club, rather than anything else.

The chosen one for the launch of Juve's new away jersey.

Arsenal can't even tempt Jamie Vardy to their souless bowl of a stadium, don't know what they're laughing at.

No one can remember last time they won the Champions League...oh.

Problem with Madrid is? their history is not only much richer than our's, their location, the glory and glamour is a much more attraction proposition than what we have got, and they're european champions, yes things change one thing does not, players wanting to go there. Even when we were on top of the mountain, they were a much better attraction despite how unstable they were, players still flock there. United in 2008 probably should have been the peak of attraction for any player, but look at how our 2008 summer played out

For what it's worth, Real Madrid fans don't seem massively keen on signing him (51% against it, per the Managing Madrid website. Not scientific, but still). I wonder if RM owners are typically influenced by fan opinion? Anyone have examples of them signing players their fans weren't really all that into?

I'm pretty sure a large portion of their fans were in favour of keeping Navas last season which probably had a lot to do with de Gea staying in the end. Not sure of any other examples though.
