Haha why do people keep suggesting matuidi? all those rumours were completely made up.

Guys, we are still going after Pogba. The media will always link us with players. Nothing is done. Also, I have not heard anything about Matuidi.

I personally feel very confident this will happen.

Woody is on a war path. We really do need a superstar player in our ranks, and he fits the bill.

Not a Pogba transfer tweet but that's the third article/tweet Marca posted about Andre Gomes today.
Maybe RM are not going after Pogba.

It can be whatever he wants.

Unless he's wrong. Then I'll hunt him down.

Gomes to Madrid makes little sense to me. They already have Kovacic who's a similar player that plays at a similar level to Gomes. He already doesn't get any game time so can't see Gomes getting any either. Saying that, I wouldn't mind Madrid moving on from Pogba, if it means we get him.

You answered it mate. The bit in bold holds true for madrid in most cases :smirk:

Yeah, I'll join you in the hunt. I'll start from the south-eastern part of Norway, so if you're from the north-west by any chance we might have a good change of surrounding him.

But as of now, I love him too!

Edit: ok, showdown in Oslo I see!

The Bergen train route always interested me in Norway, I'll start on that route.

The last two players who went for a world record fee both moved at the age of 24, one is in his 9th year at the club and the other is also likely to spend his peak years playing there. Point is, Pogba's next move means he spends substantial amount of his peak years at the club he chooses. Choice when it comes to transfer is basically between us and Real Madrid. Comparing profile of both clubs there is only one winner here and it should be no surprise Pogba prefers a move there.

For some reason, Madrid aren't ready to fork out the required fee (yet). Pogba has to play the waiting game but he has to decide how long is he willing to do that? Post Euros? Maybe another year at Juventus even? In hope they come in and pay what's required next year. Or he could decide to devote his peak years in Manchester and make the switch now. Only way I could see us pulling this off is 1) Pogba must want to leave, staying at Juventus isn't an option for him anymore and 2) Madrid bow out of the race.

Serious question, do you think Madrid will continue to dominate post Ronaldo?

I think we have a lot to offer. We will wow him with cash to get him here if only for 2-3 years.

Real are great.... But even he will see some bench time there. Jose is building a squad and his pressed today (if Pogba hears it) shows that he means business.

Serious question here : does Pogba wants to come to us?
Well he's apparently said he still loves the club (last year), so that's somewhat encouraging. :smirk:

Sky Sports said:
“I'm impatient,” Pogba said in the latestFourFourTwo magazine about leaving United. "It was the feeling I had. The coach (Sir Alex Ferguson) had faith in me but didn't put me on."
“He said that I was too young. He said "your time will come" but it never did. It didn't come. But it does not mean I will speak ill of Manchester United. I love the club.”

Cheers.

But he seems to have a problem with Fergie and I don't see him coming over if he's still around.

It's a different club now, and he's fine with Fergie.

Literally if he joined Manchester United it would pan out something like this.

Pogba: Hi SAF, how have you been?
Ferguson: Good you?

And then everything would move on, do you honestly think Pogba and Ferguson resent each other?

I don't understand why people think Pogba can't set foot in Manchester or England because he left the club for free, life moves on.

They probably both feel bad about the situation, at themselves. Just like the Veron situation Fergie regretted it.

This was in an article published by Sky Sports in early 2015.
Pogba has a connection to this club, he has none to RM.

The only deciding factors that could swing him to sign for RM over us would be;
- Immediate Champions League football
- Playing for 'historically' the most successful European club
- Playing for Zidane (who still is not a proven coach) *Di Matteo won the CL in his first half season in charge

My point here is that, he doesn't actually have much more to gain from a young players point of view by joining RM over us, no CL football for one season is not the end of the world for a 23 year old, his salary can be matched here, the management isn't proven at Madrid (though the lure of a french legend must be pretty huge).
I feel as though there isn't much in the decision between the two clubs, well not as much as people suggest anyways.

Not sure about dominating considering the player will likely go down in greatest pantheon and finding a replacement won't be an easy task but the lure of playing for Madrid is huge for any player and for the foreseeable future they'll continue to be top pick for many elite footballers.

That depends if he wants to play in England or Spain?

They are the top of the food chain, if a player gets the chance to play at one of those clubs, he will bite their hands off.

The biggest chance of CL trophies is also at those two clubs, and i think that's what counts most for a player like Pogba.

They simply have world class players all over the pitch.

United aren't a small club either.

There are perhaps 4 clubs right now who are powerhouses in terms of money and history, that's RM, Barcelona, Bayern, and United.

United have completely fallen off the radar since SAF which is undeniable, however the most successful club in English club history now has the manager with the highest percentage in PL history.

Think about that. United are going to be an absolute force next year, the worst outcome would probably be top 3. Pogba also shares an agent with Ibrahimovic and Mkhitaryan as we all know.

Raiola will not be shy to mention what United are building, yes it doesn't mean United will get Pogba but he'll have a club which he knows, and who will pay him what he wants.

Madrid is a nice city, that's undeniable, the club is the most prestigious club in the world.

United isn't a small team, it's the biggest club in the most popular league in the world. There's positives and negatives to both.

I'm not trying to belittle this club at all, i think Man Utd have the biggest fanbase of all clubs, it's a major club.

We have a chance if Real Madrid decides not to cough up the money. In that case Pogba could decide to come here and get a nice wage bump while being part of a great new team with a winning manager. I definitely think we have a chance, but it still depends on what Madrid does.

With the Matuidi rumours suddenly surfacing and not many talk surrounding Pogba lately seems like this deal is dead imo. Hope we can get a very good back-up in case. He would be happy to stay at Juve if Madrid don't want him, he has no reason to force a move to a club that isn't his preferred destination.

It would be deluded to think that if Real or Barca came in for him, he would choose us over them.

You make it sound like we're Swansea or something. Enough of this masochistic nonsense. We're top 3 of the biggest and richest clubs in the world just about every year, and there's absolutely nothing "deluded" about thinking a player might prefer us over Real or Barca - especially one who has lived in Manchester before and spoken highly of it.

Now that we are willing to match them two financially, it will not always be the case that players choose them over us.

When we have a good team - guaranteed with Mourinho IMO - we will be as attractive as them to many players. The pull of the PL will help.

Right now though, the Messi/Ronaldo factor and all their superstar players do make them favourites.

It is deluded when you think about the state of those clubs mentioned.

Manchester United is without CL football this year, Real Madrid just won it. Think about that.

True, however we got the Mourinho factor. I would've had zero confidence of attracting Pogba if a different manager was at the helm. With Mourinho I have the full confidence that we can attract any target regardless of CL football.
