It's pretty certain he'll land in Manchester when it's pretty much no time to add to his flight but saves a 3-4h drive - it's not like Manchester is a tiny airport with a mud track runway or anything.

He could easily land at MAN by aircraft and heli from there to Carrington.
He was not on that flight - you can't fly from Nice to Stansted in less than 90 minutes

I think the section in which private jets land means they don't go into the main terminal so the can go by without really being noticed.
