Paul Pogba / turned down United offer of 300k as “nothing”

Honestly he’s not worth worrying about at this stage. He isn’t much better (someone’s worse) than our other midfield options without a good DM helping him which we don’t have, and if he wants out then we should just play those who want to be here instead. Maybe use him when needed to fill a gap.

They both have been misused last session. Pogba is not that good in midfield, while van de Beek isn't that good in advanced position. We can't tell if Donny is any good in midfield because he's yet to get a run of games there.
We know Pogba is much better higher up but that's not the point here - what matters is if he doesn't sign an extension he should be used as a stop gap rather than build the team around him (as he's leaving anyway).

Pogba is not essential to this team success anymore, arguably his best moments were when he was a late substitute so that's how I'd use him.

Our midfield is crap, Pogba is a world class midfielder and we are in a position to challenge for a title for the first time in nearly 10 years.

If he was world class I guess there would be some offers for him this summer (as his agent stated clearly Pogba wants to leave).

He's not world class for United, he's second choice midfielder to amazing players like Fred and McTominay. Keep that in mind when you talk about "crap midfield".

He isn't even used as midfielder for United these days.

Think this is actually a key point - the fact that he isnt a guaranteed starter for us anymore, especially with Sancho coming in.

So in Pogba’s mind he probably want to go to a club where he will be (or have the personel to unleash him in a way we cant) - and in the clubs mind they probably dont want to pay above 400k /w for a guy that isnt a guaranteed starter.

Its kinda like they have outgrown eachother.

Ofcourse, the club doesnt like losing him on a free - but if he goes you still will potentially free up enough wages for two top class players that might balance the team better.

And the wage bill is something very important to United, its not all about the transfer fees.

As I think many feel , it will be great if he extends , but far from a disaster if he doesnt .

Do you reckon Fred or McTominay would start ahead of him nationally if they were French?

He's not going to extend, Raiola already told us back in January he wants to leave.

This. In a nutshell.

Yep. Sancho for the wing, try out van de Beek in midfield, Pogba as a stop-gap and super sub. He'll probably start on left wing as Rashford is out.
Not so bad if he stays after all. I doubt he'll like it but well.

Our first season in years that we might actually challenge for a title and we should play a far inferior player in one of our weakest areas of the pitch?
Club is first and foremost thing. Don't care who Pogba is , even if that means without a title challenge.

I like Pogba and hope he extends here. But if the plan is to keep the whole team guessing until next season and then feck off to someone else (could be even our rival) , then he can stay on bench. I want my team fully focused once the season is started. We don't have time for him and his agent's drama anymore.

That was before all the big teams he was courting have admitted they are broke…..PSG are the only team around that would offer what Raiola is looking for but they are now going to be hamstrung by the costs of Messi…..even if they lose Mbappe they are going to need a top replacement…..teams will be saving their warchests for Haaland next summer…..

not sure Pogba going to be offered what he thinks he would have got…..his options are now significantly reduced…..will be interesting how this plays out…..if we are offering him a good contract then it needs to be time limited - sign by this date or we withdraw it….we can’t have them playing us along all season…..

Does only recent history matter to you?

If I punched you in the face 10 times last year and haven't since then, does this mean the punching never happened?

The fact that the circus comes and goes tells me Paul Pogba CAN determine whether Raiola and the other Pogba brother and Pogba father open their big fat mouths. This means he let them spew shit the last few times.

I know you are struggling to think clearly, but just take a step back, deep breath, don't let your fanboyism color your world. Open your eyes

Not bothered me once. If tabloidism bothers you, I think that's more on you than anything else. I always find it strange when supporters take random news about a player so seriously. If they go they go, if they stay they stay. Seriously why do people have so much time in their lives to be bothered about what Pogbas brother and father say? What next his brother's best friend? All this 'circus' stuff is just people getting in too deep and being outraged over nothing. The footballing equivalent of the daily mail brigade.

We might actually challenge if he was on the bench. He needs to show he is the superior player which he clearly hasn't, otherwise, we would not even have a thread like this.

That's not arguable it's laughable he was great last season

Because Madrid are in dire straights financially and have asked current players to take paycuts, have sold players to balance the books and haven't signed anyone in ages. Flo seems obsessed with Mbappe, getting both would be difficult.

And Juvenuts are equally fecked, they have been haggling all summer long over a few million Euros for Locatelli.
Yeah I guess it doesn't look great for some of the giants. Modric and Kroos will have to be replaced sooner rather than later though and i'm sure the books can be balanced for a free player on big wages like Pogba even if it means more players are let go? Guess we'll see.

Do you think Donny is better or as good as Pogba?

Saha isn’t as good as RVN but we sold RVN and won the league with Saha. It’s not about comparing player like for like, it’s about the team and how the manager wants us to play. Pogba is on his final year and if we cash in, it could be better for the team because selling Pogba to buy top class CDM and play with Bruno and VDB can be a better option than playing Pogba with one of McFred.

I would agree with this if there was a top class CDM who we could get with the money we get for Pogba. I don't think there is one anywhere.

The best we could do is maybe try to tempt de Jong from Barca (with their financial meltdown could they reject £80m? That might be the price of Pogba+Jesse). If we could sell Pogba and bring in de Jong for a net spend of £30m that would be great and I doubt many people would be complaining - he's basically the ideal 6 for us in theory. But I don't think Barca would sell him, especially not bow, and there's no other candidate who fits the bill. I'm not convinced that either Rice or Ndidi are what we need, and both would be £100m. If we're going for a Neves or Camavinga then we're talking £35m and we should be able to raise that by selling squad players - Lingard, Pereira etc. There wouldn't be much point in selling Pogba then - we'd be sacrificing quality for quantity.

As his moniker suggests, an overrated opinion.

Pogba can't even get into the team ahead of Fred and McTominay, that's how great he was. Now he's being shifted to left wing so that he can be more useful to the team (and rightly so).
Unless you suggest he was great from the bench, then it's closer to the truth.

More like the interest from Real died when Zidane left.

I don’t think he’s much wanted anywhere in the world, not enough to warrant a transfer fee anyway.
He doesn't perform as well as his fanboys will have you believe. He has moments where he looks world class, and that's different from actually being world class.

For a guy that cost us 80-90 million pounds to leave us on a free shows how self centred Pogba is.

There will be teams interested in Pogba that interests him too - but instead of giving back something to a club that has looked after him both when growing up and as a 90 million pound adult - he would rather leave us on a free than gives us a decent 40-45 million pounds and leave us in good terms for a new project.

Having Raiola as your agent highlights alot about your personality. It always has and always will.

You realize that players and staff are not the same as bunch of fans on social media who spend their time reading every rag story and following bunch of tweets and crap being spewed around. Player contract situations are common part of professional football. There isn't going to be any player sitting up nights thing omg, what is going to happen with Pogba, what what what? Is he going to sign, is he going stay, what happens next season if he goes on a free. Sure it may be something they think of time to time but, no where near a distraction. The media and fans spend time on it because they have nothing better to do - these are professionals where these situations are always around. If something like that distracts them, they shouldn't be in pro sports.

Ole isn't going to be worrying about what may happen next season if Pogba leaves, he is not going to think, let me give someone else chance because that might help us long run. If Pogba is fit, then he is going to play him to get points on the board this season. And play him he must - he got all scared last season after the 6-1 but, with the purchase of Varane, if outside of Liverpool away and maybe the 2 games against City, there should be zero reason to play a McFred midfield any more in the league. For us to challenge for the title, we pretty much have to win every game outside of Liverpool, Chelsea, City this season and that means playing on the front foot

He will leave on free transfer for sure, can pick any club they want and also will be paid shit loads of money.

Having said that, does Pogba was to change clubs in a World Cup year? He will have barely 3 months to re-adjust to a new country/club before the start of the Qatar WC.

Do you think Donny is better or as good as Pogba?

That shouldn't matter. If Donny wants to be here and Pogba is only here because he can't get his move this summer and is leaving on a free then I'd go with Donny everyday of the week.

Why would you put him Infront of someone we need to get minutes. Could end up losing both of them if we do. What an awful message that sends to Donny and other players.

Yeah but his position is safe in France squad and when he leaves, it will be for PSG/Madrid. So shouldn't be a problem.

Where are the teams interested then? No one is willing to pay what we think he's worth, and that's been the issue for a few years now. That's not Pogba's fault. He can't make teams pay a decent chunk of money can he?

I suppose you could blame his performances for no one wanting to put the money up to buy him. Who are these interested teams you mention then? Why does no one else know about them yet you do? Real? No. Juve? No. PSG? No. Who? Simply none of them are banging down the door trying to sign him, yet you make it sound like they're all offering good money and Pogba is saying "shush don't offer anything I'd rather screw Man Utd hehe xoxo". So bizarre.

You just don't like Pogba.

I like Pogba and was actually hoping we build the team to fit him in (by targeting a proper defensive CDM).

However, no - one is going for Pogba because all his clubs would and could get him free next year.

Why pay 40 million when you can get him for nothing the year after?

It's because it's so obviously clear that Pogba and Raiola don't want to sign a contract here and for that reason one of these clubs will benefit from our loss.

You make it sound like no one is interested in him and he will end up playing in China or something.

Not a chance. One of the big clubs will come for him on a free next year and then suddenly this starts to look like a plan of something Raiola or Pogba wanted to achieve.

You see things with Pogba and Raiola sunglasses on.

Yes but they don’t share the same mouth. Do you honestly think Pogba told his agent to insult Manchester United? Do you honestly think he sent him a transcript of what he was going say to the press before he said it?
I believe what Raiola said has been discussed between them and they decided to go public with Raiola taking the hit, so that some fans think it's not really Pogba's fault. The intension was to send the message to the world AND to United that they need to pay if they want to keep Pogba, because he doesn't want to be here.

Now let me ask you this, do you think an agent can go public with a statement without getting an approval from the player - him employer?

Of course he'll have offers next year when he's on a free, I'm not disputing that, he won't go and live under a bridge. But where was the interest in 2020, or 2019? Or hell 2018. No one was willing to pay what we thought he was worth and that says a lot. To me thats always baffled me. There was hint of a Real bid in 2019, but thats it really. Yeah Corona probably ruined any chance of us selling him in 2020, but there wasn't even a bit of noise about interest really.

I don't think a new contract being signed can be totally ruled out even though you want to make it sound like there's no chance in hell. We put the money down and look good on the pitch, there's certainly a chance he'll stay. I'm not saying if thats good, bad, for the best or not, just saying I don't think its out of the question.

Funny how Raoila only feels the need to publicly condemn the club for Pogba and none for his other clients.

I‘m sure he’ll be fine adjusting to life in Paris or Madrid. Wouldn’t surprise me if he hasn’t already had numerous Spanish lessons, as they’ll need 1 or 2 for that midfield come the end of this season.

This whole debate about whether Pogba should leave or stay is ridiculous. The club apparently want to extend his contract. All Pogba has to do is sign it. So right now everything hinges upon Pogba. Pogba fans over here should petition their idol, begging him to stay.
