Paul Pogba / turned down United offer of 300k as “nothing”

Where are the teams interested then? No one is willing to pay what we think he's worth, and that's been the issue for a few years now. That's not Pogba's fault. He can't make teams pay a decent chunk of money can he?

I suppose you could blame his performances for no one wanting to put the money up to buy him. Who are these interested teams you mention then? Why does no one else know about them yet you do? Real? No. Juve? No. PSG? No. Who? Simply none of them are banging down the door trying to sign him, yet you make it sound like they're all offering good money and Pogba is saying "shush don't offer anything I'd rather screw Man Utd hehe xoxo". So bizarre.

You just don't like Pogba.

Spot on!

This whole debate about whether Pogba should leave or stay is ridiculous. The club apparently want to extend his contract. All Pogba has to do is sign it. So right now everything hinges upon Pogba. Pogba fans over here should petition their idol, begging him to stay.

You should be a Pogba fan. He plays for your club.

Pogba can't even get into the team ahead of Fred and McTominay, that's how great he was. Now he's being shifted to left wing so that he can be more useful to the team (and rightly so).
Unless you suggest he was great from the bench, then it's closer to the truth.

What are you on about? He was in the team in centre midfield when he was fit and one of mcfred sat on the bench unless it was a specific match for tactical reasons he started on the left. The only time he did not start was when he wasn't fit. But for the middle part of the season he was up there with Shaw as our best player.

Funny how Raoila only feels the need to publicly condemn the club for Pogba and none for his other clients.

You have no idea what you are talking about.

- In April Raioloa said he was probably "too cautios" when he decided Haaland should joind Dortmund.
- He he talked about "mobbing" from Milan when it came to extending Donnaruma's contract.
- He threw a huge tantrum when it came to Mkhitaryan's transfer
- He slammed Klopp for his treatment of Balotelli.

That's a 5 min research.

The scope of delusion from some of you agenda posters in this thread is ridiculous.

Also Pogba shushed Raiola already. Absolutely zero coming from Raiola since that CL game where the fat feck mouthed off. The only drama comes from fans these days.

I’m not fussed either way. He’s a good player but honestly I’m a bit tired of the circus around him.

Hes not got top clubs banging our doors to try and sign him so I’d imagine he’ll run the contract down and move for free next summer. Good luck to him if he does.

On his day he’s unbelievably good but that’s not happening in the PL as often as his status would suggest. He’s a level below the best midfielders like De Brunye and while I don’t think we have any hope of signing a better one to replace him I’m not sure our team needs him with Bruno and Sancho.

We’re evolving “layer by layer” in Ole’s words to the point where Pogba has been used most effectively as a LW/LM last season because that’s where he is afforded space to create. I think by singing Sancho we replace that creative quality not directly but enough to accept the loss and move on.

If he stays this season I hope we win something as it would be a shame for him to leave without a clear level of success.

Oh ffs with the ‘circus’.

Can we ban this word, it’s pathetic. As others have pointed out the only circus is our own within the hysterical fanbase.

Chill out a bit mate.

I’m referring to everything fans reaction and agent. Pogba himself to my knowledge has been professional.

I find it tiresome to see every other thread be about him when it doesn’t matter either way.

When was Pogba "great?" He played well in a handful of matches, half decent in others and went missing in the rest. Yes he scored a couple of goals and made a couple of assists, but thats why we bought him; why do some people think that one or 2 matches in which he finally showed exactly why we paid nearly £90 million for him, makes up for the half hearted lamentablebly poor performaces he has produced for the greater part of his time since we brought him back?

Pogba was benched after we lost 10 goals in 3 games (including a lucky win against Brighton) with him playing in midfield.
vs Chelsa - started on the bench (McFred starting)
vs Arsenal - started on the left (McFred starting)
vs Everton - bench (McFred starting)
vs City - started on the left (McFred starting)
vs Leeds - bench (McFred starting)
vs Leicester - bench (McFred starting)
vs Liverpool - started on the right (McFred starting)
vs Arsenal - started on the left (McFred starting)
vs Southampton - bench (McFred starting)
vs Everton - started with McTominay (got the injury)
.
fast forward to when he got back
.
vs Tottenham - started on the left (McFred starting)
vs Leeds - bench (McFred starting)
vs Liverpool - started on the left (McFred starting)

Based on that I would like to understand why you say "one of mcfred sat on the bench unless it was a specific match for tactical reasons he started on the left"?

Pogba played with Matic against lesser opponents, in almost all games against any decent opposition he was used on the wings.
What's the point of having a "world class midfielder" if you can't use him in midfield against any decent opposition?

More to the point… What’s the point of having a world class midfielder that you can’t play because we have zero decent level DM’s at the club to partner him with.

Stop pretending Paul Pogba is a poor midfielder, the problem is we have no decent players to partner him with to form a solid base.

Does he need support from a solid midfield? Yes
Should this be news to anybody? No
Does it mean he’s an awful player? No
Do we need a better midfield regardless of his presence? Yes

Sorry mate, yours at the time was just the latest in a million posts referring to some circus that some of us refuse to believe exists.

As I’ve eluded to, imo, most of it is whipped up by fans with a handful of times that his fat boy agent opened his mouth.

It’s been a very standard, non eventful, signing with little to no circus type behaviour from the player. Nothing compared to some previous players.

This was a great argument once.
Then Bruno Fernandes showed up and took a dump all over this argument.

It amazes me that some of you are still peddling the "he needs this and he needs that" argument.

Pogba cannot play in a 2 because he lacks discipline. Not because of who his partner is.
That's the end of it.

All the players around Pogba cannot be blamed for the faults of Paul Pogba every single damn time.

The point we're discussing is whether Pogba is being picked in midfield ahead of Fred and McTominay. He clearly is not.
Nobody said he's an awful player, he's just an average midfielder who can't adapt, hasn't improved much since coming here (especially compared to Fred and McTominay), and as a result he's second choice midfielder to fairly inferior players in terms of ability and potential.
More to the point, why should we build a team around a player that doesn't want to be here?

Just wondering, who else in the league would you have in this level?

World-class players don't require other world-class players alongside them to operate at a high standard, though. Pogba rarely performs well regardless of who he partners in midfield.

Does Bruno play midfield? Or no 10? I dont remember us putting Bruno in a midfield 2 do you?

This place is soo toxic. Rarely plays well? Yet he was our best player for a clear portion of the season and our worst run happened when he got injured.

He's been one of our better players in pretty much every season he's been here, I don't think most people would argue against that (expect for some of the obsessive haters/posters we've got here lol). But after 5 seasons, can anyone really argue against the fact that we all expected and hoped he would be a lot more consistent and impactful? Again, I think only the Pogba fc fans could argue against that.

I think it's fair to say Pogba is a luxury player, one who makes a good team into an even better one, but he's not a player like Bruno who can even shine in a mediocre team. And this is why it's so annoying he's leaving now that we finally have a really solid team on paper...

French, Italian, Portuguese, English, Spanish and probably a few others too.

Pogba is a very smart boy.

You don’t have to be smart to speak several languages though. But yeah, you don’t speak five world languages being a moron.

The argument is proved right every time he plays for his national team and at Juve.

It’s fact, proven, no debate.

Im sure you will be happy with McFred and an ageing Matic when Paul’s gone then? Yeah thought not.

But we can ignore the real problem until we get rid of our best players, I’m sure that’s the best way to build football teams.

If he’s ever second choice to those players in Ole’s mind it’s purely becuase we lack a true, decent DM with legs.

Simple as that because Paul Pogba p*sses all over McFred at everything except their combined effort of being one decent DM.

This place is soo toxic. Rarely plays well? Yet he was our best player for a clear portion of the season and our worst run happened when he got injured.

Sorry if that post came across as toxic, it certainly wasn't intended.

I just say what I see, mate.

Neither does Paul. He can win a game himself with a moment of magic and play key passes and assists amongst bang average midfield partners. (Yes that is what they are.)

What every team does need is balance, teams are built and partnerships are made on the pitch to suit each players strengths and weaknesses in order to balance and strengthen the overall 11.

Especially at the base of midfield, the same as a CB partnership is selected based on how each of them suit the others traits. It’s ok for us to spend money partnering Maguire but heaven forbid we use that approach in other areas of the pitch, particularly the ones that include Paul Pogba eh.

We will do exactly this eventually, unfortunately once he’s moved on and we recognise we have zero creativity from midfield, then we will scramble for said creativity in the transfer market once again. I think Ole knows this which is why he’s trying to keep Paul.

If Pogba intends to run his deal down and leave then we should play Donny more than Pogba. Why play him if there is no future? Why risk losing Donny too for a player who is going anyway?

It's a shambles it really is.

We should play the better player. If Donny isn't performing, Pogba can come in. Or vice versa.

You don’t have to be smart to speak several languages though. But yeah, you don’t speak five world languages being a moron.
I've never personally met a stupid person who's a polyglot! Maybe there's a knack for it?

Of our other midfielders from last season:

  • Bruno joined the club 3.5 years after Pogba
  • Mata has played 50 times in the last 3 league seasons
  • McTominay has started playing regularly 2 years ago
  • Fred joined 2 years after Pogba

Not like he has any competition for the above stats. Wouldn't be surprised if Mata is still ahead of Bruno over last 5 years for most of these categories.

Well said. Bruno shows what Pogba should be at half the cost. Put it another way, we were going nowhere fast when Pogba was here and Bruno wasn't.

Or on the contrary he will be more fascinated about the idea of playing with Messi?

Nah, they're fudging all sorts of accounts to get Messi on the books.

They're no longer gonna offer Pogba the massive jump in wages and agent fees that Raiola would demand.

If they offer a similar level of wage to what we're offering, I think he will stay in the end.

This is exactly my thought, Pogba can't play because he is limited in certain aspect of the game to be a Midfielder.

Pogba's Attributes

Passing(Long & Short)
vision
dribble
Techniques(Passing & Shooting)
Body Balance
Strenght
Shot

Pogba Lacks this

Aggression
Tackling
Speed
Positioning
Stamina

Basically it's mostly the defensive part of the game he's not improve, but offensively he's brilliant.

So it's up to the Manager to pick him against teams he can be useful or ignore his defending and hope that with Pogba, Bruno, Sancho, Mason, Cavani playing together week on and out we can outscore opposition rather than hope on defending.

If they can fudge their accounts for Neymar, Messi etc. they'll be able to do the same for Pogba. Messi is most probably a replacement for Mbappe. If anything, playing alongside Messi and Neymar should whet Pogba's appetite to join PSG.

He's probably one of the longest serving players in the current squad.

Indeed he is.

If we look at last season's stats for each of these data points, Pogba's ranking among United players (who played at least 500 minutes) is:

For context where do you pull your stats from?
