Paul Pogba / turned down United offer of 300k as “nothing”

There's zero circus over Pogba, yeah he hasn't signed a new contract but there's been very little publicity from him about it. On socials he's very happy with the team and enjoying life, as he usually is. I really don't understand all this 'circus' talk.

Anyway I was for selling him for 50m as it's a good offer and would suit both parties, but I'm happy for him to stay too as it gives us attacking depth that's sorely lacking compared to City and Chelsea. Hopefully Ole uses him as an AM depth option though and not try to shoe horn him into DM again.

PP staying is bad for Man United? I don't quite get it.

He can leave on a free or sign a new contract, but PSG being priced out and Madrid/Juve/Barca out of contention is a good thing. It basically limits Paul's options going forward to a minimum. Unless he goes to a domestic rival which seems unlikely at this point.
If he runs his contract down and leaves on a free next season that is worst case scenario for us. We needed a decision to be made on Pogba one way or another before the window closed, as things stand we're in limbo.

It looks like we'll have Pogba for next season but it makes future planning difficult for our midfield. We've already got a few moving parts with the uncertain goalkeeper situation, plus the right back and striker positions could be put off until next summer so some clarity on the midfield would've been nice.

He's almost certainly leaving for free next summer and I'm not sure there's much we can do about it tbh. Stick him on the bench for a season to discourage other players from doing the same thing.

Give him a "take it or leave it" final offer in September. If he says no, the matter is closed and we can start planning for his replacement next summer.

He's got the world cup next year to think about, plus a free transfer to secure - he can't afford to down tools. We can also leverage that to our advantage.

Does only recent history matter to you?

If I punched you in the face 10 times last year and haven't since then, does this mean the punching never happened?

The fact that the circus comes and goes tells me Paul Pogba CAN determine whether Raiola and the other Pogba brother and Pogba father open their big fat mouths. This means he let them spew shit the last few times.

I know you are struggling to think clearly, but just take a step back, deep breath, don't let your fanboyism color your world. Open your eyes

I’m fine with him staying…we can’t make him sign a deal and if there isn’t any interest then there’s not really a lot we can do.

As long as he stays motivated and performs, then he should be available for selection and if he decides to go, bye…

He wouldn't do that regardless as he is a top professional.

If he doesn't sign on an oferred contract it's pretty bad for United.
1. We will lose him for free which means we will spent half of the budget next summer to get a midfielder. Getting any money for him now would be much better.
2. Every club knows you're in for a midfielder so will try to skin us from money
3. Pogba, even assuming he will be disciplined and focused which is not a given, should not be a part of the team core (because it makes no sense to build around him). So what to do with a star player on massive wages in that situation?

The only thing worse is paying him whatever he likes. He is not that important to the team anymore.

Toxic attitudes like this are apart of the "Circus"

The fans hysteria over nothing has always been the real Circus. Mad how they haven't copped that yet haha
Absolutely this.

The only circus is the hysterical portion of the fanbase with a tendency to throw their toys out of the pram.

Hahahahaha

He hasn't done a Harry Kane and not shown up for training but to say he's been a top professional is laughable. He's allowed his agent to bad mouth us constantly for last three years. He could have put an end to it any time he liked but he didn't. Even created a circus on the eve of the Leipzig game.

I honestly worry about people on here. Pogba seems to have you under a spell.

I'm not the one under a spell about Pogba here, where I go against everything people who actually deal with him have said. Pogba is a top professional, that's according to people who deal with him every single day. We've seen how other unprofessional athletes deal with his situation, you're not seeing anybody having a bad word to say about Pogba over how he's handled his return. As far as his agent making noise, that's their job, welcome to professional sports.

Picture the scene:

United are into the last two months of the season. We still have a league title race on our hands and we are still in the FA cup and maybe CL too. Paul Pogba is 2 months away from being a free agent. How likely is he going to leave his body on the line for us knowing that he could be risking his future with Madrid / Juve / PSG by picking up an injury?

This is why you can't have players who run their deals down. He should have been sold if he isn't renewing. We are going to have another season of distractions and rumours whilst his fanboys continue to make excuses for him.

Sign a contract ( I wouldn't give him one ) or leave this summer. No other option should be possible. Him running his deal down doesn't help us one bit.

He's gonna milk us like a double D titty, oh well, I like him and think he's a very talented player but he doesn't even fit well into how we set up as we've never even tried to build a team that suits his best attributes, I imagine he'll start the season on the left wing while Rashford is out.

You can't sell a player when an offer doesn't come in.

Sorry I haven't kept up with this speculation much but why are they are out of the running? One of those two seemed the most likely to me if he were to leave United, i'm sure Juve would love to have him back especially if Ronaldo left the club.

As for the other elite clubs, Bayern wouldn't want all that business that accompanies him and I can't see him picking another English club.

Because Madrid are in dire straights financially and have asked current players to take paycuts, have sold players to balance the books and haven't signed anyone in ages. Flo seems obsessed with Mbappe, getting both would be difficult.

And Juvenuts are equally fecked, they have been haggling all summer long over a few million Euros for Locatelli.

I'm not sure why he would sign a contract now. I wouldn't. If he believes in himself, which has never been an issue, then he bets on himself. Goes free next year, which is every pro athelets dream, to be courted by all the big clubs. He'll get a HUGH signing bonus and great wages. Our concerns or the clubs concerns are not his concern.

Exactly.

You think if he’s within touching distance of a trophy, champions league glory or something like that he would be thinking I better go easy I don’t want to injure myself before I leave.

Nonsense. he’ll give his all if we are in with a chance of winning. If we aren’t and it doesn’t look like we will win anything then I could imagine him taking his foot off the gas. But not when we have a shot at winning stuff.

You can't sell a player when an offer doesn't come in.
People really don't understand this. The closest a club have shown interest is PSG asking him (apparently) to ride out his contract. You can't sell and assets no one wants to pay for, so the only two options in reality are; sign a new contract or leave on a free next year.

Surely he must be slightly disappointed that in the last three summers, when he's wanted to leave, that there has been almost no interest in signing him? Major clubs just don't think he's worth the hassle, especially now that Covid heightens the importance of getting things right in the market. You can't pay what we'd want for Pogba. He simply isn't reliable enough.

Someone should be shoving a mic in front of Raiola now to ask is he still finished at United. He clearly thought he had a deal lined up for Pogba this summer and any way you slice it, he's let his client down. You don't make those comments before Leipzig without a plan.

Unfortunately we've lost all control. I'm sure if he doesn't sign we'd love to sell him in this window but not one club is interested. Shit situation for us as a club but I take some solace, knowing that Raiola's ego is hurting. At least until he and Paul get paid next summer!

Modern football is grim!!

Players hold all of the power. If they don't want to sign a contract, they really don't have to. The threat of being dropped by France isn't even a massive concern for Pogba either, he's always going to make the squad through natural athleticism and ability alone. We're in a shit position but we're fortunate that we have enough creativity in the attacking third to not rely on him so much now.

A certain team morale destroying statement of it “being over for him at Manchester United” literally the night before the decisive Champions League game comes to mind.

You can't sell a player when an offer doesn't come in.

Says it all then doesn't it? Nobody wants him. Not even for a cut price deal.

Utter shambles of a situation to be in. We are going to continue to disregard Donny this season for a player who doesn't even want to be here. What kind of message is that?

Accept whatever we can get and get rid. We don't want players that don't want to be here.

I doubt anyone can afford his wages now, apart from clubs in England. I'm hoping Donny gets more games too, I think he's starting to show more of his ability having had a year to settle..

Another year of cowardly hate, cant w8 to read about circus, his hair, his agent, using expectation of him to win shit on his own to hate on him

No other club thinks he’s worth the fee and wages his team think he is worth this summer, not even us. It’s a false economy. Hence he’s settled here, for now.

This is just a circus really since we signed him. I would nearly just let him go on a free, despite taking a hit, just to get rid.

If Pogba intends to run his deal down and leave then we should play Donny more than Pogba. Why play him if there is no future? Why risk losing Donny too for a player who is going anyway?

Is it not pretty clear that Raiola does whatever he wants?

People who regularly go along with the media assumption that Pogba is basically a spice boy because he likes to dye his hair and because the media is racist seem to desperately cling on to that. Everything that has ever come out from people that work with him indicates that he is a leader in both his club and international teams and incredibly popular with his teammates.

So let him stay and run his deal down? Keep picking him above players who actually want to be at the club?

This is beyond a joke now with some of you. Pogba clearly means more to some of you than the actual club.

I'd start Donny over him everyday of the week if he wants to go. Nobody can afford him this summer? Tough luck. On the bench you go.

It's a shambles it really is.

Pogba will most likely be shifted around, just like how he was used last season. However the arrival of Sancho may mean more bench time for him, Ole has already shown that he's not afraid to drop Pogba last season, let's hope this continues into next season as he (along with others) will have to earn it to get selected.

If he isn't signing, I would rather keep him on bench and give DVB a chance

Do you think Donny is better or as good as Pogba?
They both have been misused last session. Pogba is not that good in midfield, while van de Beek isn't that good in advanced position. We can't tell if Donny is any good in midfield because he's yet to get a run of games there.
We know Pogba is much better higher up but that's not the point here - what matters is if he doesn't sign an extension he should be used as a stop gap rather than build the team around him (as he's leaving anyway).

Pogba is not essential to this team success anymore, arguably his best moments were when he was a late substitute so that's how I'd use him.
