Yeah I saw that as well.

I like Carragher but I am not sitting through 15 minutes of Jamie "literally" Redknapp, surely having two ex Liverpool players flap gums on Pogba is not the most unbiased way to gather a consensus opinion. Anyway Pirlo said it best, if we win a bunch of trophies through the addition of Pogba then he was worth what we paid.

Pogba cannot dictate a game like Modric. But he does have other huge qualities like his skill and presence

He does but dictating the game is a very rare quality that the likes of Zidane and Scholes possesed. Modric possses it in the current game. Having that quality automatically puts you above anyone that is not able to dictate a whole game.

Pogba is still 23. Who knows what is to come. As of now, Modric is definitely better.

Man, you guys with your Real and Barca pipe sucking get annoying by the day.

We've only sold a top level player once against our own will and it was his dream club since childhood, yet you lot like acting as if we get constantly picked by Madrid or Barca. This myth about Madrid keep growing bigger and bigger by the day. Most of the guys we sold weren't either wanted anymore or had a fallen out with Fergie otherwise we don't bloody sell our players to Real(and it's like Madrid or Barca never sold big players before listening to some of you ).

And in a few years we're likely to be back competing for CL titles and such with our financial power, so these stupid scenarios you lots love coming up with about Madrid taking a Pogba or Martial in a few years are a bunch of bogus. You lots ought to stop with your inferiority complex or simply take it somewhere else.

Some of you lots wank Madrid more than Perez and their own fans, it's bloody irritating.

Except I didn't really say that at all. I just said if Pogba doesn't sign a new contract we'll have to sell. The rumours going around have always been that he eventually wants to end up at Real or Barca, the 5 year contract he's on now will not stop him from going there if he wants to. Seems pretty logical, no?

We have the option to extend for a further one year, I believe. He will be 29, if he's really eager to leave then, he's welcome to. We would have made much more than we spent, gotten a few top years out of him and made some money back by selling him.

I completely agree, if we keep him until he's 28 or 29 then it will be well worth it. I'm just saying, the length of the contract won't stop him from going to Madrid or Barca eventually if he wants to.

Oh sorry, seems like I misunderstood(it just the Madrid bit from people have been irritating me lately). And all the talks about him wanting to go to Madrid seem to have been created by Spanish media because so far nothing else indicate such.

And even if we accept that Pogba wanted to go to Madrid just for the sake of argument(I personally don't believe any of those bitter Spanish reporters and twitter bloggers), that would have mostly been because they Madrid currently offer more chance to win big trophies such as CL etc and we currently are out of CL and a bit of a slump the past few years.

However from this point on, I see us reviving and getting back to the top where we belong and very soon we'll be fighting for CL trophies given our financial power and Ed willingness to spend big. We've got big sponsors lining up left and right to sign deals with us which means more money and means to acquire further top class players.

Mou isn't shy to spend, neither is Ed and that's the perfect combo. The latter has stated his desire to surpass the likes of Madrid and have super stars come to us, not use us as stepping stone for the 2 big Spanish. All we really need right now are performances and results on the field which I fully expect us to start delivering once again from this year.

We'll probably get in the CL in a year, we're likely to spend again and reinforce. We managed to attract top class players w/o CL football, once we get it back we'll find it even easier to acquire top players. In 3-4 years we're likely to be in a place where Pogba wouldn't necessarily need to leave if he want to achieve his goals and ambitions.

Not to mention Pogba isn't a Spanish nor Portuguese speaking, native player or something. Usually they're the ones who prefer Madrid since the place, culture and such feel closer to them and Madrid is like the holy grail.

Why is the discussion of Pogba going anywhere even happening? There is no indication, other than rumors from AS and others, that Pogba ever intended to play for Real. He wants to win with United, provided we build a strong team around him and challenge for everything, he won't be leaving in the near or long term.

People are fecking idiots that's why. Not even 1 game for us yet and he's already leaving for Real Madrid.

Pogba was quoted (and I saw the interview in France as I live there) as saying... that he idolizes Zidane, speaks to him often and it would an honor to play for him at Real Madrid... and then added that it's also an honor to play for Juventus, where Zidane played also. This was before the Euro.

And then Raiola was quoted later here: "We are at the start of the negotiations with Real Madrid. Pogba admires Zidane and Real Madrid, which will weigh in his decision."

Pogba was obviously trying to get Madrid's interest. For whatever reason that we can speculate on until our face turns blue... Madrid didn't reciprocate with an offer that met Pogba's wage demands (according to media).

In any case, he's at Man Utd so why do people care. Pirlo was interviewed in 2015 and he said he dreamed of going to Real Madrid but circumstances never worked where he went there. I don't think Milan or Juventus care that Pirlo was a closet Real Madrid fan. I'm sure he's not the only one lol.

Why should we care?

Raiola also had this to say about Real Madrid.

We don't give a feck about Real Madrid. You're just a sellout club full of mercenaries.

People are just obsessed with Madrid. Everything has to be Madrid will do this or that. I swear United fans(some) wank Madrid more than their own supporters do :nono:

Isn't Pogba just the coolest footballer around? On top of Zlatan as well! Rival fans must be well jealous how cool we are.

Player and agent keep their options open when deciding which club to move to next shocker. If Pogba truly wanted to go to Madrid they would have been his club after juventus.

Unless Real weren't that interested, and didn't want to pay the price for him. He'd have been a great addition to their midfield but they probably didn't need a new top class midfielder as much as we do.

I think he probably had reasons to favour both, though. It seems clear that Pogba has a lot of admiration for Zidane (legendary French midfielder and all), and to play under him would've been brilliant for Pogba. Still though, I also suspect he's still got plenty of good memories from his first spell here in spite of how it ended, and will enjoy being back at the club which gave him his first big move...even if he didn't do much in that first spell. I imagine the feeling when he was a kid of getting bought by a massive, elite club would've been pretty great after all. Still, whoever he'd have preferred we've got him now, and have made a massive statement in regards to our ability to compete for top players.

To be fair, that top level player is one of the greatest footballers of his generation, and he was sold during one of the greatest spells of the club's history...in a mediocre season for Real when they only managed to finish 2nd. I've always found the "dream club" to be a tad exaggerated with Ronaldo like many of his antics, but it's easy to see why people worry when we lost a footballing great to Real at a time when we were competing for (with a win in there) CL titles on a regular basis. Add in Real Madrid coming quite close to acquiring our best player last season and, again, it's easy to see why it's a valid concern to people.

With our current financial pulling power and a guy like Mourinho at the helm, I don't think we need to be too worried about losing any top stars to Real or Barca, but I don't think it's ridiculous for people to slightly worry about losing a top player to Real Madrid when it's something that has quite literally happened in the past. As unlikely as it may now be.

Di Maria was sold against our will too.
Im not sure about this. Seemed like a mutual agreement. I mean he signed a long contract and was only a year in. If we didnt want to sell him why did we take a 15 million dollar hit on his transfer fee in less than a year?

No, remember he didn't come back from internationals. If the club didn't sell him, he would have sat in the club house while the others played. I remember van Gaal at a stage said that Di Maria was a United player, then a week later admitting that Di Maria didn't come back from the Internationals. He was then sold quickly.

If he waited a year the price would drop significantly as he would only have 2 years left. If pogba wanted Madrid it would have happened.

Zidane might be a legend, but he has very little reputation as a manager yet in reality. Laudrup was a great player but you don't see players following him to the Dubai 2nd division or wherever he is now.

I'm just a bit fed up of people assuming we are Pogba's second choice and he would rather be elsewhere when there is literally nothing to suggest it and heaps to suggest the exact opposite. There is just an inferiority complex about Madrid on here as if we are some small provincial club in comparison, we have had a couple of bad years but fans need to have some pride.

You lot are nuts. If Madrid cant afford him now what on earth makes you think they will be able to afford him in the future his value is only going up. Our value and income is going up and well moat likely add a few more insanely priced players in the meantime.

Madrid would have to offer us a deal that eclipses 105m. Not to mention its unlikely Zidane will survive a couple more years.

This. Plus it's not as if we're short on money, they'll be rinsed dry if he was to leave, no chance the club would let him leave twice without dragging their feet.

yeh i remember. Im Just saying the club had way more leverage just seemed LVG never wanted him anymore as he was probably the most un LVG player one could think of. Just seemed to me that player wanted to go and we didnt mind selling once we got back some of the fee

Zidane videos remind me of Dad's V Lad's games i used to play in. The game was fundamentally always the same. Dads kick shit outta their boys while the boys try and run rings around them without getting caught. But there was one Dad in our group who was Classy as feck. Even at age 50 or something, us lot 20-25 come off aftwerwards saying "feck me, Ian's class......"

Zidane always looked like that Classy Dad playing with kids.

Some of those Pogba clips in particular though, surrounder by 5/4, can imagine myself watching him breeze through my team and saying "Yep, that's me for today boys, im off home.....G'night"

Only issue there is his contract runs until he's 28? no fecking way i want him leaving at that age. If Pogba's prove's his class, Edd needs to be on the phone every single summer saying "we're adding another 25k p/w onto his salary to extend, have him pop in after training to sign"

None of this 2 years left bollocks where Real start sniffing and coming in with the 50m or nothing next year offers.

Same with De Gea too, every year, dont give a feck if its not frugal. EXTEND EXTEND EXTEND. If Real/Barca want em they should have to sell off their fecking stadiums to buy em.

I've always wondered why more players don't try marseille turns - I don't think they're too hard to pull off and can be very effective. Plus they look fecking great
The Marseille turn?! You mean the Maradona? Come on now.
