Does anyone think we might see some more of our most ambitious/talented youngsters letting their contracts run down? Now that they see leaving United isn't necessarily a one way street? I think this makes it a little harder to keep them at the club.
Probably, but I still feel the Pog is going to be a fairly exceptional case. Only an exceptionally talented youngster could hope to move away from United at 18 and immediately hope to establish himself at another big club. And now that we seem to offer fairly fat contracts to youngsters, it would be a pretty difficult decision for a youngster to make

I'm very happy (and impressed) that we've got our four main targets in before the league starts. It's a far cry from what I'm used to.

Does Pogba throw shade at Madrid here??

I just wanted to thank with respect clubs that have shown interest in hiring me. Gracias, thank you!
It can't be aimed at Pep. City didn't even want him. He's shite anyway.

So after the Pogba/Higuain deals, Juve is actually in the red? How?? No wonder why it took so long for all the negotiations. I guess Juve wanted a lot more from us to cover the Raiola fee, but that's a heck of a deal from our perspective. Kudos to Ed!

I'm genuinely baffled. Was Pogba forcing his way out in secret? Juve is one of, if not the, best negotiator nowadays.

Unless something big happens, I'm finally looking forward to experiencing deadline day without all the panic and stress :D

Well, Juve still got themselves a mammoth of a deal. Paid nothing for him, rode the wave for 4 years, winning so much stuff, and then sold for a world record price. Nothing to scoff at. What they had to pay Raiola is not much of our problem, so there's only so much to negotiate here. Moreso with the Higuan deal where they just said, Feck it we'll pay the release clause.

Like some others have mentioned already, I am glad we're done with our transfer business before the league has started.

Gives us maximum chance of accumulating as many points as we can. I will have no interest in following the transfer deadline anymore(what a welcome relief). We have addressed a lot of weaknesses in the squad and most importantly our manager is satisfied with the shape of the squad.

I think Pogba is an amazing outlier.

I think we will continue to let most out youngsters go at some point and most of them will turn out to be the right decision.

Imagine how you lot would react after Liverpool would buy a former player (who they'd let go for next to nothing) for a world record fee? ;) Exactly the same I'd imagine.. A lot of oppo fans are just jealous I guess, I know I wish we could still sign players like him.

I'm not mocking the transfer though, the fee is high but he's the kind of player that warrants it and will probably bring you silverware in the coming years. It's just the whole #Pogback and "coming home" shit that annoys me a bit. You've assembled one hell of a team this summer but there are no excuses anymore not to succeed this time around imo, and we don't know yet whether it will all click on the field.. Very curious to find out though!

Pogback thing is cringeworthy but to be fair you need innovative ways to announce signings to get attraction. Like city making gundogan tweet announce gundogan and stuff like that.

I doubt. Not a lot of youngsters would be able to make it work. Look at januzaj. He barely got minutes let alone become a top player and he was a top top talent for us.

Or they could see at Rashford and Lingard as inspiration.

it's a huge outlay, they will rinse it dry marketing wise. Hysteria = merchandise

I think we should put it on the front of t-shirts and get the players to wear them at the next game. Don't think I can think of any club have ever reached out like that before, can you? ;)

Also...5 times.

what did you expect him to say? he was still under contract with Juventus

Lazy people speculated he was only moving for the money, well guess what, they had an epic fail

I don't want to get involved in a long discussion about this, as it is pointless and silly.
But when a player is looking for a move, he begins to say nice things about the new club he wants to be at.
ALL players does this. Ronaldo did this when he wanted to move to Madrid. DDG did this when he wanted a move to Madrid. Even DDG's girlfriend was doing the social media rounds. Bale couldn't wait to move to Madrid and he did not hide this fact, before he moved to Spain.
I could go on, but you get the point.

Pogba kept his mouth shut.

Such an underrated positive when it comes to the league. I hate seeing us drop points in August that could've been avoided if business was done sooner than later. It probably cost us a few points last year if we had Martial from the beginning (granted, it's possible Martial wouldn't have had much game time anyway, but still). August should be used to acquire some secondary targets, not primary targets. Still a bit annoyed that the Pogba saga took so long to complete, as it would've been useful to get him some game time with his new teammates.

Still wonder how the team will be shaped, but it's great to have such a dynamic CM in the team.

I am guilty for accusing pogba of only making this move for the cash

But the interviews and the pictures is making me think he is more genuine than I expected...or maybe I'm being naive

We shall see very soon

When do we think he'll make his re-debut then? Surely not this weekend as he's only just back off his legendarily long holiday. Maybe Southampton at OT?

go on Sky Sports and read the article "Pogba annoyed by transfer delay" (or something like that)

he states himself he wasn't allowed to say anything

Soon? How come? Even if he moved here for money, what do you expect to see? Him flailing around the pitch and not putting in any effort? How can you tell that from lack of pre-season training? Or soon as in a few seasons when he starts making noise about moving? So how soon is soon?

Wouldn't be surprised if he makes it off the bench for 15 mins or so and then a full debut on the Friday. Jose intimated as much when he said he was checking PP's insta after the Community Shield. Though, whether that was in jest or not, is anyone's guess.

Welcome back Home, Pogba!

Now that finally it's been done, let's do the talking on the pitch. Theater of Dreams is awaiting!

Haven't seen that before and I've been following football very closely since 2012 ;)

No seriously, I get why United does it of course, but that doesn't make it less cringeworthy, especially to rival fans.

You'd happily put up with all the marketing nonsense if it meant your club had revenues over £500m, which in turn meant you could spend £89m on a player. I hate all the dab stuff but if it all helps improve us on the pitch then that's fine.

he states himself he wasn't allowed to say anything

It was in one of his personal social media posts where he stated that he could not say anything by law even though a lot of people were asking him questions all along. Obviously that he has moved - at some point he must have told Juve / Raiola / Us this is what he really wants to come to us.

That's why people hate on Madrid, because of the disrespectful way they conduct their transfers in the open. We, and Pogba, have been respectful to Juventus throughout this saga and that is how it should be.

I know, I was replying to the other guy who seems to be defending the notion that he came here for the money because he didn't say anything publically.

I don't get the point at all. What is the point? He didn't really want to come to United because he didn't say it?

Because it's a fecking strange point if so, he showed respect to Juve and just 4 weeks or so ago he discribed United as his "first family".

That's very fair. All the social media nonsense I'm not keen on, but not too bothered by, the sponsors are forking out enough to justify it and likely have agreements about it.

He's a French footballer, of Guinean extraction, who played for us for two years, after we used our financial muscle to steal him from Le Havre. He was in Turin for four years. 'Leaving home' fits the facts better than 'Coming home'.

Only a diehard football fan could fail to laugh at the 'prodigal return' story.:smirk:

It's an easy accusation to resort to. I think a lof of people have thought about that (myself included), but he genuinely looks happy to be here. You can't fake that, and even if you could, Pogba doesn't strike me as the type of player who would. If he was unhappy, he would be sulking I think.

We will have a very good idea where his head is after a few months I expect
