I do hope we give him the sort of freedom his type of player needs. If we shoehorn him into a more restricted midfield hustle and bustle role to accommodate captain nantastic, we're asking for trouble. For me, Pogba is an attacking midfield, meant to drive forward and create/score.
Mourinho just has to recreate the Lampard role over here I guess. He'll need one of our other midfielders to step up big time, though.

Jose's comments have probably already been posted but talking about other managers comments about the transfer fee:

"I heard comments from other managers but they'll never have this problem (criticism over spending) because to have this problem you have to be in one of the biggest clubs in the world"

 someone fetch Klopp some aloe vera.
He's such a cnut

But he's our cnut.

First time that I have actually seen a pic of him signing:

That's not a real contract, it's Lorem Ipsum

That's half the fun of being a United fan.
Imagine how you lot would react after Liverpool would buy a former player (who they'd let go for next to nothing) for a world record fee? ;) Exactly the same I'd imagine.. A lot of oppo fans are just jealous I guess, I know I wish we could still sign players like him.

I'm not mocking the transfer though, the fee is high but he's the kind of player that warrants it and will probably bring you silverware in the coming years. It's just the whole #Pogback and "coming home" shit that annoys me a bit. You've assembled one hell of a team this summer but there are no excuses anymore not to succeed this time around imo, and we don't know yet whether it will all click on the field.. Very curious to find out though!

Excellent interview from Mou. Big props to Ed for his work this summer. Now it is time to let our football do the talking for us.

Seriously though, his position is instrumental to success (yes I understand there are 10 other positions which are instrumental aswell), He's capable of doing the same thing Yaya Toure did for City, what Kante did for Leicester, what Makalele did for Chelsea, I understad he can be deployed further forward, but i'm just implying he's capable of being the a crucial part of United spine for many seasons to come.

Commonsense would suggest that, but surely Mourinho watched every game United played in the second half of last season. If he saw enough to dump Schweiny, why is Rooney still in his plans? A blind man could see that he's not worth his place in the side.
I don't think Mourinho even considered BFS after seeing him travel halfway across the world to see his girlfriend play tennis and then being suddenly fit for Euros after spending the first half of the season running out of breath after 30 minutes and then spending the second half of the season being injured. It's a good thing BFS has an impeccable personality because if Rooney did that, most of this forum would spontaneously combust.

Look at the moral outrage deservedly dropping Basti has caused. Imagine the turmoil if he did it with Rooney. It'll have to be incremental if he's going to do it at all.

The whole #Pogback thing is a bit cringe but it's heavily tied in with the Adidas sponsorship, and we have to keep them sweet I suppose, especially after missing out on the CL again.

Plus, it's just the state of the modern world, with your twitters and your instagrams.

If it was L'pool then I honestly wouldn't care, it would make a lot more sense than taking Fowler back though wouldn't it? Even if that was a free transfer and not comparable.

Yup this is what is all about now. Time to forget about the muppets and transfers...

It's all down to results now. If we don't put in at least a very significant title challenge this season, I would put it down as a massive failure

I'm pleased with the the summer signings and it looks promising. But time will tell

That would be the perfect role for Pogba. The goal scoring midfielder. As much as I hated Lampard during Mourinho's days with Chelsea, he was fantastic for them.
Yup, I think he was better than we opposition fans gave him credit for.

According to their press release, they're getting 72.6m euros after 'solidarity subsidy' so it likely means Raiola's fee is part of the transfer fee and not something on top of it.

Just a follow up to my post earlier and the reports that Juve have indeed paid Raiola's fee.

Gazzetta dello Sport football economics expert Marco Iaria.

POGBA
105 mln(euros) paid by Manchester United

split:
5 mln paid to Pogba
25 mln paid to Raiola
2 mln other contributions(training???)
73 mln net received by Juve.

Some sections of the English media are still trying to push the £120m in addition to Raiola's fee even when Juve confirmed the numbers in their press release.

In one of the videos you can see him signing it in the indoor training area with a set up backdrop and table. It was just a set up photo to do with all the other stuff they filmed/photos they took.

It was just a photo opportunity, the real thing would have been signed at some point before this I'd imagine.

Because Rooney's a couple of years younger and a player Mourinho's coveted for years. He must think he can get him back to his best. If he can't then, fair enough, he'll cut his losses. It's not unreasonable for him to want to give it a crack though. I also think BFS was tainted by his association with Van Gaal, fwiw.

By 'best' do you mean 4 or 5 years ago?

More than likely a double, to make the photoshopping easier. It would be easier and more realistic to lift it from a picture of someone similar than fully photoshop the devil in, it would have looked fake if they did that.

well yeah that's exactly what I meant, it was shopped from another person not his real hair

That's actually pretty decent, considering the numbers tossed about previously. City and Liverpool fans will still claim he cost north of £200 million, though.

So after the Pogba/Higuain deals, Juve is actually in the red? How?? No wonder why it took so long for all the negotiations. I guess Juve wanted a lot more from us to cover the Raiola fee, but that's a heck of a deal from our perspective. Kudos to Ed!

Almost accurate split. But from all the reports, Riola was supposed to get 20% of the fee which makes it 21m Euros. United will most likely get 2-3m back for developing him.

Does anyone think we might see some more of our most ambitious/talented youngsters letting their contracts run down? Now that they see leaving United isn't necessarily a one way street? I think this makes it a little harder to keep them at the club.
It also works the other way. We learn from our mistakes and hopefully we don't let a Pogba situation develop ever again.

There's no 100% in anything, before or after Pogba. If they're gone and become the best player in the world, then there's always a chance we'll be interested. If they become another Ravel Morrison, then that's that. I don't think Pogba deal changes anything. They should realize that 99.999999% of footballers out there are not Pogba, themselves included.

Leaving any club is never a one way street, but most youngsters will stay at a top club as long as they can to try and succeed there as the path back to the top is extremely rare.
Pogba is something of a one off, not many youngsters would be offered a contract like he was by Juve after no senior career starts.

Does Pogba throw shade at Madrid here??

"I just wanted to thank all the fans who have left comments on my pages about my transfer, I took the time to read everything and I thank you sincerely for your account and your support, however for contractual reasons it was just impossible for me To answer you.
I've been thinking a lot before accepting this transfer, I had to just take it and there was a lot of work to do. The wait has been long and tedious as I needed to take account of everything.
The decision to change club is difficult to explain in a few words but it is a decision that only comes from the heart.
Juventus will always be in my heart, I'll miss her and I always will. I will always remain grateful to the club, to the team and fans. I hope you will understand and respect my decision. Friendship is to understand and be understood.
I just wanted to thank with respect clubs that have shown interest in hiring me. Gracias, thank you!
Leave Manchester at the age of 18 had been a split decision between the club and myself, it was the right decision to make. Now it's time to come back and start with Manchester United, Old Trafford here I come!"

I am loving how this has brought all of the Abu's out of hibernation, the pats on the head and pity were getting irksome, this whiny bitterness is much more like it.
