Paul Pogba - Juventus player | ban reduced - able to play competitively from March 2025

He is on €8,5M-10M after tax per year. That’s a guaranteed £260-305k per week. But if you add the tax benefits of moving to Italy he’ll be earning much more.

For exemple his sponsorship deal with Adidas is worth 5M/year. His Instagram account earns him similar numbers.. On all this moving to Italy means he can pay a fixed fee of €100k/year instead of the 20% flat tax in the UK.

Well his after tax income in the UK would equate to about €10.8m per year, so going by your numbers he's actually taking home less?

Also, United are a bigger pull follower wise than Juve, which would equate to better deals for Pogba, so probably best not to involve individual sponsorship deals with regards to wages his club pays.

Juventus is a huge club. The difference for individual stars is not as big as we like to think it is. Dybala without ever stepping a foot in England has a similar following to Pogba and a much higher one than normal PL stars (only Salah is slightly ahead of Dybala, and slightly behind Pogba). Pogba is not going to lose any significant following. His current deal with Adidas will still bring him the same pre tax money and Italian rules will mean he keeps a much bigger part of that.

After Pogba’s 54M Instagram followers our most followed players are Varane, and Sancho with around a quarter of Pogba’s and Dybala’s following.

They absolutely are a huge club, not doubting that, but United are a bigger club commercially which would have helped Pogba getting bigger contracts.

I did say there's no point in discussing players individual deals, club pay he's taken a wage cut doing by what you've posted?

He will or should play better in a weaker league. Thats about his level. Unless he plays with better players than him, he doesnt have the nous to stand out, or the ability to take the game by the scruff of the net. Sure he has had the odd good game here, but thats it the odd game.

Serie A is perfect for him. The pace of the league matches his slow and ponderous nature on the ball.

after tax
So the point of this whole discussion is that I only ever see this claimed on this forum. Not read it anywhere else, which lead to someone telling me I read the wrong sources, which lead to me asking for some, which lead to that tweet, and we are full circle.

just common knowledge that wages in Italy are reported after tax.

No, i said you read either the wrong reports or reports wrong. So going by your posts, it's the matter. You read the report wrong.

Juve play Jose's Roma in their 2nd game. Serie A could be a very confusing time for some Caf members this season.
Roma for me. Smalling and Matić are both top pros of whom I have fond memories, even though the latter was getting past it when we signed him.

I bear no ill will towards Pogba or Jose either, though I’m glad they aren’t at United any longer.

we're poor we gotta do with what we have lost lot of players for free and Pogba for 2.5m+wages doesn't look so bad.
It's clear that United move was the wrong move to his career we just hope he goes back to be a very good midfielder.
Also your managers always fielding him in the wrong position didn't help his performances.
I mean you paid him what you did when he was shining as a left-box to box midfield and placed infront of defence in a 2man midfield

Pogba is all about the tricks and flicks. He gets caught in procession too many times because he wants to showboat instead of playing simple passes. He is way too slow for the pace of the EPL. He is quite easily marked out of games. Yes, if he is given time and space, he can create some wonderful passes, but the rest of his game has some fundamental flaws. He cannot tackle, press or close the opposition down. He would flourish in an exhibition game.

Former Manchester United lads in Serie A right now:

Juventus: Angel Di Maria, Paul Pogba
Roma: Josè Mourinho, Nemanja Matic, Chris Smalling
Inter: Henrikh Mkitharyan, Matteo Darmian, Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez

Guess Matic is the only one who played well for the majority of his United stint; the other ones were just expensive flops or simply not good enough for Premier League..

At the womens Euros tonight
Iceland v France
Quite a few French fans, although quiet and lacking in passion compared to the Icelanders.
Many of the French fans had mens team shirts on, Mbappe was by far the most popular.

I saw one with Pogba, he had a see through cape, and also had a 3 coloured plastic chicken on his head.
It just seemed so appropriate

Mou the united lad.

Smalling was good too, just abysmal on the ball. He was definitely good enough for the PL.

All of them were good enough for the PL. Leeds players are good enough for the PL. Some of these "United flops" are even good enough for teams that challenge for and won the CL. They weren't the only problem.

Not a single player can be considered as"not good enough for pl". Every single one of them were good enough.

Also Pogba, Lukaku, Smalling > Matic for ManUtd.

He was played there when Ole was appointed and he was performing brilliantly but then someone decided to throw him back into the holding mid role.

I agree that Pogba is an exhibition player. He excels at doing the ultra complicated occasionally but is way too crap at doing the simple things well consistently. Every time he had the ball you felt he wanted to make a splash, he would dwell on it far too long. Just wanted suited to the PL. He was abundantly good enough, he just refused to adapt. He is also absolutely atrocious off the ball. His work rate was pathetic, his closing down non existent, and I’ve never seen such a big unit get bullied off the ball as easily as he often was.

He’s a wonderful, creative player when he wants to be, but he asks too much sacrifice of those around him. He’ll thrive again in the slower pace of Serie A. He easily could’ve been one of the best players in the PL if he was willing to evolve his game, because he has the talent and physical attributes to be an absolute beats if a central midfielder. But he was only ever interested in playing the game his way. It’s a shame but he won’t be missed.
