Paul Pogba - Free Agent | ban reduced - able to play competitively from March 2025

Apparently he will be allowed to train at Carrington to regain his fitness in search of a new club. We've always been helpful to ex players in this respect, but with the circus that always follows him, I'm not sure the potential distraction is necessary whilst we are trying to kick off the Amorim era.
How is allowing an ex player to train at Carrington going to be a distraction? It's not as if he's going to be in first team training with everyone, he'll most likely be training like Sancho did when away from the group last season.

Classy move by the club imo.

Especially when he’s left twice for free, cost 100m to bring back and was a toxic presence in the dressing room
Let clubs like Marseille sign players like him

Mourinho aside, I don’t recall anyone calling Pogba a toxic presence. In fact, all his coaches and peers say the exact opposite.

In any case, it is the club allowing an academy graduate to train at the facilities to regain fitness - as the club has done/allowed previously - it’s not like he’s being handed a multi year contract or something.

Wish him all the best. Like him as a player, but very inconsistent.

Could do an Evans, but I hope we stay clear.

“Apparently”

Might be an ace up out sleeves come March to May.. a bit like Larson.

This is the same bloke who wanted to leave in 2019, said he wasn’t there mentally any more, had a miserable time of it the last couple of years and then did a documentary about his decision to leave on a free again?

If true, why on earth would he want to come back, even if only to train?

Why would we let him train with us when he can potentially join a rival? makes no sense, probably bs

I’d welcome him back in a heartbeat, particularly as one of the 10s in a 3-4-2-1 system if Amorim sticks with that setup. He’s arguably a level above anyone we currently have, especially when it comes to passing and playmaking. It’s unlikely to happen, but if it did, I certainly wouldn’t have any complaints.

I agree. I don't think we're popular with this take though.

Entirely depends on if he can stay fit. His last couple of seasons here it looked like he couldn't handle the intensity of this league anymore.

If he can handle it, it's a no brainer. We desperately need more quality. I don't think he can anymore, though.

This was one of his last performances:

Some moments of quality, but didn't seem to be moving too well (in a much slower league) and ended with a hamstring injury. Unfortunately, because I'd love to see him back playing well, too, I think that ship has sailed.

He left us for free to join Juve, after years of insane wages and constant drama. He didn't think once about helping us recoup some of his £80m+ transfer fee, only about lining his pockets.

Now he's in a bad spot, we invite him to come and train at the club to get his career back on track??

Unfecking believable.

Maybe we could get Lingard back too, they could practise their dance moves at training.

Looks like he's struggling to keep up in a very slow game, doesn't seem to want to move fast.

It seems bizarre both ways round.

But you know we still have fans that would be happy for us re-signing him, as if years and years of moans about the whole circus and losing tonnes of money twice, weren't enough.

He's barely kicked a ball in three years. Even before the ban he was pretty much out for a year injured.

If he can do a job, lower wages, keep his head down, plays to win, maybe also try and get into the French team. Might be a good a redemption story. It’s a punt that United don’t really have much to lose. A bit like with with Evans (more complicated due to the personality) but can observe him in training and see if the quality is there and fitness returns, if those match can also judge if the character is suitable to playing for United.

But I’m pretty sure if there were any character issues he wouldn’t be welcomed back. It’s not like with Sancho who being under contract the club had a duty of care and also it made sense to make sure he was training properly to keep his level up and increase the likelihood of getting the best deal for him.

Don’t see anything wrong with letting him come back to train as a goodwill gesture, no matter how things went he’s an academy graduate and it would be nice to at least allow him a place to build up a bit of fitness.

Hopefully for him the extended period off the pitch has helped with injury issues and he can join a new side with a level of freshness in his legs.

When it comes to the possibility of rejoining us and being given a contract I don’t see any harm in assessing things in a very matter of fact step by step basis. Does it seem like he’d have the legs? Is he ready and willing to play a selfless, simplified, and dedicated game? Basically it would take a lot of things going right for him to be brought back into the fold but I don’t see the harm in exploring the path to see if it leads anywhere.

As per my post above, if Jesse was without a club then he can come back any time to train.
