Be great if he could play like he has since his comeback all the time, but he doesn't. Never has, never will. Gutting because he's so talented!

Baller. Nothing else to be said, deserves to compete for the highest honours.

Difference with him and without him is night and day, so much more cohesive as a team with him in it but if you listen to some/media you'd think he has one good game in 5.

Watching pogba is like wanking with silk, watching our other midfielders? Wanking with sandpaper.

Pogba instantly improved the level of our team after coming on. Is it because Pogba was really good or Fred was really bad? Honestly, I dunno. However, its clear that there's no way Pogba should be behind Fred in the pecking order. Regardless of whether he's leaving in a few months or not.

He literally carried us the last half of last season and was dominant at the beginning of this one before his injury (in a clusterfeck of a team mind you). But go on with your narratives

So we go a few weeks/months with Pogba out injured and you’re thinking ‘yeah we can do without him, let him go’ but then he waltz’s back into the team and shows just how much/what he brings to this team. He really if different class.

I am resigned to him leaving but I hope he stays.

Losing him will be a big problem despite his injuries.

Think about it. Right now he is our only midfield 2 player of acceptable quality.

It's going to cost us about 60+ million to replace him with a player who is probably worse but albeit hopefully is available more and not injury prone.

That leave us with a Midfield that at best is as good as the one we have. And that Midfield is shite.

So if we want it improve our Midfield we are talking about 120+ million.

We will never do that. We will be stuck with McFred playing every week again.
Been saying this for years, him leaving is no guarantee we replace him adequately & even if we do that midfielder would be lumbered with McFred/the ghost of Matic.

You get what you ask for though so when he leaves & we’re left with McFred it’s exactly what a number of posters have clamoured for.

And it’s a stark reminder for me why a controlling midfield maestro rather than a Rice-esque DM is what this team desperately needs more than anything.
I think we desperately need both kinds of cms, to be honest. Our midfield is dead. Though a midfielder who's press resistant and can add control and composure to us is definitely at the top of my wishlist.

I can't take another season of Fred and McTominay. I just can't.

Exactly. I'll be saying I told you so. Won't be happy about it but yeah we are likely in for a world of trouble unless we do an absolute madness in the Transfer window

I reckon it's because Brighton don't press him like our other midfielders because Paul can actually keep the ball under pressure.

What narratives?
He didn't carry us. He was brilliant in some games, good in others and poor in others.
And the beginning of this season, brilliant against Leeds, very good against Newcastle and a lot of meh to mixed performances thrown in-between.

Eye test and whoscored ratings back that up.

made a difference with his passing when he came on (lucky to come on against what seemed to be a shattered Brighton team in the second half). However, generally, he should start when fit. Enough with McFred - it’s not funny anymore.

paul is a very good player, unfortunately he makes fans (some at least) like him less due to his inconsistency and his constant desire to look elsewhere

Everything he did today was smooth as hell. If he did that for the majority of a game more often, he could regularly be one of those who we can rely on to make a difference.

Been very good since his return from injury.

Make no mistake, we need both.

Don't worry. I guarantee you the club will only replace Pogba with a worse player and at best buy someone young and cheap to replace Matic.

That will leave us playing one of McFred with the unlucky soul that is our new Midfielder.

His composure was really highlighted late in the game just outside of our box when he had the ball one on one with one of the Brighton lads. He just stood there with the ball. Didn't do anything with it, just waited. And then, I think, Dalot came up on the overlap and Pogba just threaded the ball to him starting a wide attacking movement.

It was so simple yet anyone else on the ball would've either passed it sideways or backwards, keeping the ball in a dangerous position.

When he comes on after you've watched McT and Fred on the ball tonight for an hour or so, well... Its like watching Succession straight after Mrs Browns Boys.

That play at the end. McT screws basic short pass and Pogba does spinning on that ball. Sums it up

Going from Fred and McTominay to Pogba is like when you change the YouTube video from 240p to 720p

More like from from 240p to 4k wide screen dual surround system or whatever.

Excellent cameo to help the team with his passing and runs into the edge of the box.

Also tracked back better than his previous match probably to him being fresher

Too true. Why have we still not invested in a proper DM is beyond belief.
I've been a critic, and probably will again, but every time I think yeah, just sell him he does something to change my mind.

100% we’ve needed a DM since 2014, and this summer we somehow need a DM, CM (even if Pogba stays imo), a RW and a CF, possibly 2 CF’s if Ronaldo leaves.
Tragic.

Well he plays for us and we've been shite for years. No one plays well for us most of the time.

Having a great season other than the fact he got injured for 4 months

Coming on against 10 men and no one pressing him is like his perfect playing field. I agree with those who say this game was representative.

His first half against Southampton was much more impressive, that's the type of performance I wanna see more of

Other than being injured for months the evidence of this season undoubtedly says we should keep him.

He wants to leave though and I don't blame him. I'd leave too to be honest

If we can keep Pogba and bring in a real defensive midfielder we would be a transformed team in my opinion. Very classy when he came on and our best CM by a mile

He came on and looked like peak Zidane next to McTominay and instead of Fred. We may well have to keep him.. somehow

He’s one of the only players we have who plays passes perfectly into the recipients stride. It’s so vital to maintain the momentum of attacks. I would like him to stay but if not we need to sign someone equally as good at what he does because the rest of our midfield cannot pass.
