Ole found his position by accident.
He should be playing further up.
Played like shite today regardless!

He was poor in every aspect today.

Time to play him higher up the pitch and hope Fred can step in alongside Mctominay and produce the goods.

He’s pretty much at the heart of everything good we do but also has a tendency to be involved in some of the rubbish we do. He certainly over does it at times and I do wonder if it’s because he’s thinking he needs to hold it until the magical pass opens up and it just never comes.

Thought at one point that Pauls' Mum had remarried and his surname was now double barrelled i.e. Pogba-Losesit.

Overall, very disappointing. He may not be a CM, but the frequency with which he gives the ball away is inexcusable.

Pogba made 0 tackles and 0 interceptions today and gave the ball away 7 times (not including poor passes). To put that into perspective, even Mata made 2 tackles today. Without a "Kante" type player beside him doing all the dirty work, Pogba is a waste. Sure, there are flashes of brilliance but it isn't enough to make up for all of his bad stuff. Either play him in the #10 or don't play him at all. Amazing how one of the most talented players in the world can also be our biggest liability...

Should be played #10.

Can't understand why Fred is banished from the first team. Pathetic management

Why can't he play as a number 10 and have Scott and Fred sort out the rest of the midfield play?

Makes no sense.

He’s only ‘at the heart’ of what we do because the entire team is designed that way.

He is meant to get the ball in the set up phase, so there is no-one else who can be at ‘the heart’.

Just because he delivers his responsibility 1 attempt in every 15 isn’t some worthy achievement. Vast majority of the time, he fails miserably to do his job.

Only saw second half, was easily our best player...so much class in almost everything he did strength and power and looks fully committed.

So god knows how bad he was first half

Well, if that is what you think of the second half, you'd probably have he was good first half as well.

...he was garbage both halfs, apart from one pass.

Was awful today and it wasnt because he played deeper. He played deep in his first season for us, and in terms of consistency, it was arguably his best season for us.

Today he was sloppy, took too many touches, poor touch, etc.

What I will say is that, he isnt the man to take control of the game. He wants to get forward, which means our deepest midfielder needs to be the dictator.

I've said before he needs to be played in the 10, only player we have who actually has the ability to play in that position, the two times he got there he slid Rashford in lovely, play him 10 and get either Fred or someone else into that midfield.

Dreadful performance. He’s so much better when he keeps it simple, really needs to stop trying to do so much as he’s simply not as good as he believes, but could be so much better if he didn’t the easy things.

Eh no

He clearly wasn’t. Name 1 mistake in the 2nd? Yes his first half was poor but he was fine 2nd.

How did he play today? I only catched the last 20 minutez and he was lively.

I agree. Was a liability in MF. Must have lost possession about five times in the first half. Against City we would have been punished.

TBH i dont think he wants to be here and Madrid will sign him next summer.

Dunno if it’s been mentioned but his complete lack of interest in the defensive side of the game was also a factor in their equaliser. Vestergaard should have been competing with two United players at that far post, not just one.

Considering how often Pogba seeks to create physical challenges in the centre of the park it’s surely not a big ask to get him to use his size and strength in our own box, every now and then?

I'm critical of him, but he played really well. We have major flaws in this squad and as long as I see from Pogba that he applies himself, I refuse to criticise him in this team. He has his flaws as a player, that will not change I think, but he has created a lot of chances, won a few balls, and worked very hard. His positioning was very good, I just didn't like his movement quite as much when he played further forward. Still created enough to win the game from there though.

Just so inconsistent again , the story of his time here. Gave away the ball a a lot but then done some good work going forward only to go MIA again when we needed him most.

We need to keep him now as we don't have a replacement and we are already so weak in midfield , but will not be a big loos if we can get someone half decent but more consistent in to replace him.

He players like he's trying to sabotage us.

That was his bad parts. That is the parts I don't like, then you have the positive highlight video which will look similarly spectacular. What is important is what happens in the middle, and today he worked his ass off and was aware of play. He made himself available, didn't hide from responsibility and kept our team in control for large parts of the game.

Its a bit harsh on him there I think. This is the problem, majority here expect him to be everything yet we can all agree he should be used in the attacking sense. He becomes a liability when we ask him to couple that with the defensive side. He didn't have a great game but he made things happen and created openings. No one else did that until he was moved further up. Even when he is shite he is our most creative player. Maybe that says more about us than the player mind.

@Andersons Dietician pogba at the heart of everything.

More than 2 word answer might be a better rebuttal?
To be honest I didn’t think you really deserved anything else than 2 words if you’re going to speak complete rubbish. Did you even bother to read the rest of my post or did you just get triggered at the “he’s at the heart of everything good we do” if you’d bothered to read the rest you’d understand why I didn’t feel like you deserved anymore of a response.

The point is that the good parts need to be absolutely fecking spectacular if we’re going to carry a player who gives the ball away so often, game after game, without making any sort of defensive contribution at all.

And his good parts were better than average today but certainly weren’t absolutely fecking spectacular.

If we don’t play him in the CAM role then we may as well sell him. I find it incredible that he doesn’t play there for us, he’s by far our most creative player and we are wasting him in a deeper position. If we played against him we’d be laughing if another team under utilised him as much as we do.

For me this has to go down as one of the worst long running decisions the club has made. How can no one see it? If he played for any other team bar City he would be the furthest forward midfielder without doubt. It’s gone beyond comical and is now simply bad management all round.

If we have any chance of a top 4 finish we need his creativity further forwards. If he stays deeper we’ll be lucky with a top 6 finish.

I read your entire post. Just making yet more new excuses for him.

His last season here, absolutely no doubt. He isn't worth debating, his head will be out of Manchester already.

I refuse to believe we wouldn’t be improved a lot if we replaced him with a proper creative CM who is only a little worse than him going forwards but actually knows how to retain possession, when to keep it simple and where to stand on the pitch.

Obviously.

The "he's the best midfielder in the world" crowd won't have that, though.

I said it months ago: the fact that Ole wants him deeper, to have a greater impact (as he's on record saying), is worrying.

Yes - in our current setup with a very good player in the hole, Pogba could work after a fashion, France style, sure.

We don't have a very good player in the hole, though. And Pogba isn't the best midfielder in the world, nowhere close.

Go 4-3-3, release him and let him be a pure AM. It's better than using him deeper and fielding a seriously sub-par No 10 in a 4-2-3-1. It's just not working. Lingard is utter shite in anything which doesn't involve pressing and off-the-ball play, and Mata just doesn't cut it. Could gamble on a kid in the role, I suppose - but the obvious move is to use Pogba in the only capacity he looks likely to be an actual asset in on a regular basis. Pair McTominay with whoever - Matic, Pereira, Fred - and see how it turns out.

The revisionism about Pogba on here is hilarious. You do realise he’s played further forward fecking umpteen times for us already? And been no less capable of being shit in that position than he was in the position he played today.

I agree, but look at this squad. What is he supposed to do? We'll lose more from dropping him. He wants out and we can upgrade him, but he tries his best now and that is all I want from him at this point.
