George Best was a legend who beat the crap out of his Wife on more than one occasion and even told the press the Hospital was the best place for her.

Paul Scholes another legend who refused to play in a League Cup game under Fergie.

C Ronaldo within the first month of signing for the club declared his intention to leave for Spain one day. He constantly gave interviews to Portuguese and Spanish outlets in subsequent years declaring his love for Spain and Real Madrid on a regular basis.

Wayne Rooney twice threatened to leave the club, first to City and then to Chelsea due to the squad being shit. Moyes persuaded him to stay the second time around and helped him to a monster new contract in the process.

Paul Pogba has been playing in far worse teams than the above since he rejoined United. He also hasn't done anything close to what the above did as far as trying to engineer a move from the club or been unprofessional by refusing to play in a first team game. He also hasn't kicked the crap out of his Lady like George Best did to his Wife Alex on more than one occasion. You should just admit you just don't like the guy for whatever reason. No need to beat around the bush.

Wow again, you should admit you want pogba’s babies and don’t actually support this club if that’s your highlights of best/scholes/Ronaldo/Rooney.

Enough with this!

Being pro-Pogba doesn’t make you anti-United.

He is a Manchester United player ffs! People act like it’s a crime on here to defend our own in this case.

You want Pogba to apologise for denigrating the club but are willing to ignore the likes of Scholes, Ronaldo Best etc for doing worse. Then after getting called out for your bollox you respond like a 8 year old.

My Bollox? I don’t like a player that we have had for 3 years that I believe is one of the most selfish players I have ever seen play for this club over guys that have played the best part of their careers for us and won trophies galore.

Sorry about that.

I suggest your bollox is a disgrace to those 4 players and you should be ashamed of what you have used as an argument.

Sweet dreams x

Are you agreeing with his views on 4 legends of this club
Re-read his post. They aren’t his views they are statements of facts.

Best did indeed beat his wife, Scholes refused to play, Rooney flirted with other clubs then stayed & Ronaldo was talking of leaving from the season he arrived.

He doesn’t even mention these as his ‘highlights’ for their career but you’re trying to twist his words to suit your weak narrative.

Now re-read my post. Do I agree with his post or call yours out for it’s ridiculous nature. You’ve told a man to go & have Pogba’s babies because he sees his behaviour differently to you.

2 questions.

What is his argument? & how has he spoken of the players disgracefully?

You’ve had a mare here

To have those to hand is my issue, I guess most players aren’t saints but that is not how I would argue my love in for pogba by tearing apart absolute legends.

You want Pogba to apologise for denigrating the club, your words not mine. Then when I bring up the 4 players from our past who were arguably worse in that regard, you're willing to brush their antics under the carpet. Hypocrisy much?

So they were only arguably worse but achieved 10 times what pogba has but you want me to absolutely adore him?

Is this a serious post?

“have those to hand”, they’re common stories - if you’re not heard about those then you don’t really know much about united to be quite frank.

“tearing apart absolute legends”, he’s calling out those that only use morality when it suits. Wilful ignorance at its peak.

He wants me and everyone else to ADORE pogba, absolutely.

The guy will be gone next year, I’ll pass thanks.
He doesn’t want you to ‘adore’ Pogba, what are you on about

He likely will be gone next season, we can’t even replace Herrera of Fellaini yet people act as if it’s a good thing.

The saying you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone is going to hit people hard when McTom + Pogba’s cheaper, less able alternative rock up week in week out.

So they were only arguably worse but achieved 10 times what pogba has but you want me to absolutely adore him?
How is beating your wife arguably worse than saying you’d like a change of scenery in your career.

No one is asking you to adore anyone.

I thank god I joined this forum this summer. Makes detaching from the club easier when I see the state of certain fans.

I’m off to bed.

He said we should absolutely adore pogba???

And his response ripping apart united legends came right quick almost as if they were pre-prepared.

You said arguably worse and seeing that you just stated detaching from the club only adds to my believe you aren’t a united fan but a pogba fan.

Or maybe identifying as a fan of a club when you see the state of the fans and their beliefs do not match your own is something that is difficult to deal with and can lead you to want to disassociate with the club or “fan base”

So they were only arguably worse but achieved 10 times what pogba has but you want me to absolutely adore him?
This isn't about achievements and Pogba isn't short of those as he's won the biggest prize in the game. You accused Pogba of denigrating the club and want him to apologise. But when I brought up 4 players from the past who have done worse in denigrating the club you're happy to brush that under the carpet due to those players being legends which I find hypocritical on your part.

Well I’m not in the pogba fan camp and there are plenty that are especially right now it seems but I wouldn’t stop supporting united because of what they say on the internet.

I never said anyone should adore Pogba, if that is referring to me.

Maybe so but those players brought me plenty of joy which is why I bother with professional sports, Pogba so far has brought me little of it and I expect him to leave next year so I’m not investing in him unlike some who will look a little silly next season.

You assume its just the internet...

Someone did, getting attacked by too many now to point out who did. Was the only reason I got involved in this thread tonight
I'm not attacking you. Please don't feel intimidated. We all support United and no one should feel that they're being attacked.

This/.

I literally couldn’t have said it better.

This forum, as with Twitter/other social platforms is a mirror of society & I am finding it hard to justify my irrational obsession with this club when I feel at odds with my fellow fans over things that [to me] are deeper than football.

You assume its just the internet...
This./ [again]

This fanbase is riddled with opinions I honestly can’t see justifications for is what I’m currently struggling with.

I love a disagreement, I’m often the one to play devils advocate but some of the views of my fellow fans have got me thinking do I want to be associated with such a big entity when a large number of the fanbase don’t like who I am.

I’m tired so maybe it’s just the days exhaustion talking. . .

That's a lovely bit of midfield play.

The sad thing is there is no 'midfield play' in that clip. It's just a lovely bit of awareness and skill (the hesitation to pretend to pass it first time back) from the best outfield player in our team bar none.

Most players and pretty much all our midfielders would have passed that ball back where it came from.

Think it's fair to criticize Pogba on some of the things he does on the pitch, and the media storm around him doesn't help as well. That being said, he's still playing well for us. He seems to be doing his best out on the pitch, even if it is to get his move next summer.

We as a fanbase and the media seem to focus a bit too much on what he does on the pitch at any given time. "I saw him walk, he played too many back passes, he dwelled on the ball too long". It's fine to criticize him, but we can't expect the lad to be briliant in every single thing he does. He can't ping 50 yards every other second, he can't dribble past 2 players every time he gets the ball under pressure. Besides, who in the world of football does that every time they get the ball? I'm pretty sure he assesses most of the things going on in a match to know when to do what. Sometimes he fecks up, but I'm pretty sure our entire team make bad decisions every match. Some people seem to put every match entirely on his shoulders, as if others aren't to blame if we don't score or concede.

We have a brand new defence with 2 newcomers that also has to get used to not only the players around them, but also the system we play. Pogba now also only has 1 midfielder next to him, in comparison to the 2 he's used to having.

I think as our defence gets a better understanding between each other and with the attack, things will get better. I also think if Pogba and McTominay play a lot next to each other, they will form a better understand between each other and we may see more from not only Pogba, but also McTominay.

I know that he has used Stats Zone in the past. That is why I said he used to use opta data. Because Stats Zone is simply a package for opta data like whoscored.com and numerous other sites and apps.

My issue is that before he started working for MUTV he used to post stats that sounded believable and if I checked them on other opta driven sites then the data there would support his claims. Since he has begun working for MUTV he has started posting amazing sounding claims like this is one about Pogba winning possession more than any other player in the league and if I check it then the data doesn't support his claims at all.

Something has clearly changed and I am curious as to what.

Easy to verify, just have to take the premium account. All his screenshots have statszone watermark, that's why I think he gets everything from there.

Also regarding duels won, like I said it's just we get limited data. Opta posted so many tweets that Pogba won most duels among the midfielders in the world cup, but if you check tackles, interceptions it won't add up.

I believe for free users, the data available is limited. I'm thinking about getting premium account for statszone, just checking if it's really worth it.

He's the most scrutinized player for Man United there has ever been. Even more than Ronaldo.

De Bruyne is better than Pogba, you can't argue on that. Talking about stats, at least half of his goals were penalties last season. Losing Pogba wouldn't be a hit in our top 4 hopes if he was to be replaced by proper players.

Yeah agreed, KDB is better but we need to get off his back at the start of the season.

No where near as Pogba you have to admit, and whatever you say it is clear Pogba is our best player.
Rashford has received a ton of criticism from everyone (me included), and he has been basically carrying our attack at various points in his young career. Pogba receives more criticism because he earns more, he is more talented, he cost more, but he hasn't performed as well as everybody expected due to a combination of his inconsistency and the inability of the board to put a proper team around him. It is ok to say that Pogba receives criticism bordering on verbal abuse without dragging other players into it.

You see that's my issue with the all thing and I told people that it would happen in 2016. You are basically saying that Pogba is criticized for things that he doesn't control, Pogba was overrated by people that were clearly not following him, he has nothing to do with his transfer fee that was between Juventus and United and it's United who decided to offer him that wage.

Now the most important part is the expectation, for some reason people thought that he was the "best all around midfielder" which he has never been and they have judged him based on that totally erroneous evaluation. Maybe people should start reajusting their expectations because they are the ones who made a mistake.

Anyway, I am pretty sure this time next year this one won't be for discussion, the Caf will have to find someone else. Pogba will be off to Madrid.

I just hope we give him a good reception at OT this week.

100% this.

I feel like some fans were expecting him to pull out Messi / Ronaldo levels?

He's always down graded for his performances too. Against Wolves he had a solid 8/10 performance but missing a penalty suddenly makes him a 2/10 in some peoples eyes, it's crazy.

I don't think people understood what Paul Pogba is. The words keep being banned about are inconsistent, ego etc. PP is a CM, the numbers he produces from a CM are brilliant. It is so difficult for a CM to shine every game and people kind of expect Pogba to create magic everytime he gets the ball yet when he tries something and loses it they say.. why does he need to do that. He just cannot win with our fans.

I do not mind Paul Pogba playing the way he has started the season with 3/4 magic moments a game because you only need the 1 to come off for us to score.

Yep. They want him to keep it simple, never lose the ball statistically, but then expect him to get over 20 assists a season and score 10 goals without penaltys. There is no other CM in the world that does this. KDB is the only one close and he plays in a much better team, and plays way more advanced.

I feel like if he played for Chelsea or Liverpool our fans would be going crazy about him, but they have to see the negatives first.

I never really believed that propaganda worked, but this is the first time for my own eyes I realise how powerful the media can be.

I stand by my point. A ton of criticism, he's actually hated here, lot of it is way ott. On paper Pogba is our best player, I agree but let's not pretend he gets criticized much more than Rashford.

I seem to remember that some posters thought that @kouroux and I hated Pogba because we weren't as complimentary as a lot of people were. I'm pretty sure that someone was shocked when I suggested that he wasn't even top 10 among midfielders and definitely not Juventus best midfielder.

Exactly, once he leaves and people watch clips of what Pogba will be doing in Spain, alot will be saying why could't he do this at United where in actual fact he is but the fans want to see the negative bits of Pogba first.

Pretend? I do not condone any abuse in stadiums but look at Pogba end of last season getting abused, and after missing a penalty. Which Pogba has every right to take, because he is our penalty taker and everyone keeps reminding me that of his goals last season how many were penalties.

Pogba is not just our best player on paper, on the pitch as well, you will see this when he misses a game or two and we will look completely shit.
