Does it make me an asshole if the stupid concessions of possession stay with me as much as the goal? I really enjoyed most of the game and love watching him in imperious full flow but I'm always left thinking he's better than this. That shielding thing, where he ignores the 10 yard pass while trying to ward off 3 opponents with his arse? He was good but should be inspirational, raise the bar for himself, always look for perfection. He's losing the ball in shit areas and we won't get away with it against better opposition.

No. It bothers me too as he is so talented but he just seems to relax with it. Tbf to him, he has been shit when he has tried too hard also so i don't know, maybe its something he'll improve on. But to me he could be the best ever, but sadly I'm starting to doubt if he can put all the pieces together for that.

Good game but he doesn't half do some stupid shit.

I think you have to get used to that with Pogba. I think he's one of those that will mature and cut out the crap a bit later in his career.

Even the current Pogba is devastating when he's on form though, like in the last couple of games. His vision and passing with both feet is sublime and his runs from midfield a constant threat. We're a different team when he's on song.

genuinely would love us to become a force again, and with him leading it

Because he had a good game... saying that he needs to play simple, not do any fancy stuff and has a shit haircut is much more fun.

Right?
Pretty much

Glad he managed to shut up the wannabe Graeme Souness's on here for a few days at least

Big performance from a big player. Middle finger to all the people who seem to genuinely dislike him on here.

I’m one of those who genuinely dislikes him. It was a good performance against a pub team. Despite involvement in all three goals and some other decent moments he still did some incredibly annoying things. I gave him 8/10 and he was motm so credit where it is due. Hopefully I can find a way to like him but I’m really struggling.

Completely over the top.

Plenty of 1/10 ratings from the Brighton game weighing down his average. I would have given him 0/10 but for some reason it is not allowed. So 5.6 is probably overstated if anything.

First goal was majestic. The way he shoots while switching from right to left with minimal to none backlift is frightening.

My rating for him is 6.3, seems so I've been generous cause average one is 5.6. :D

That's why player ratings in the CAF are bonkers. What will get you to rate average to 6-7? 10-0 trashing of Liverpool?

On the topic, Pogba has glorious left foot too! He scored in the world cup final with his left and it was glorious as well.

Complete player, no doubt about it. More of the same, Pogba!

They were annoying me. There were at least 5 or 6 occasions where he could have released the ball but held on it and then lost it, and eventually fell on his ass on the ground. He would be a top top player if he can cut out that kind of shit from his game. He should think of himself more as a midfielder than the incredible hulk.

Still a good game. The first goal was sublime. Not many players in the world can hit it like that with their wrong foot. The run up for the penalty is stupid, but it was a good one after he missed the last one he took. A good 7/10 performance which could have been a 9/10 if he had just kept it simple.

Him going against the tide for the first goal is absolutely colossal. There are very few players in the world that can physically and mentally step out against the tide and smash it away. If this guy shows up every game we will win the league pretty easy

He was absolutely immense.

But he does need to cut out that shit run up for the penalty. Keepers guess where he will shoot every single time and he can’t get enough power on them because the run up was too slow.

Commentator made a point last night that it’s a settling technique, so that he has as much time as he wants and can take the kick whenever he feels ready. Not sure if that is the reason, or if the commentator was just trying to justify it.

I always thought GK want to delay the kick as much as possible whereas penalty taker just wants to get on with it. Pogba's run up is exact opposite, wonder how many times he changes the side before kicking the ball.

Our captain love the grass for far too much.

Beaut footwork for that goal, and sharp eye for forward passes... when there is actually good movements. Team mates really need to start moving into spaces beating opposing defensive lines.

I love how uncomfortable his run up makes everyone. Your average person just can’t fathom that much confidence. This is Pogba and this is why he is special.

Is yesterday's goal the best goal he has scored for us or do people rate the Swansea away goal as better? Everything about the first goal was world class, the touch, the movement, the little dribble and the finish.

The worst I give the players is 5, 4 if it's totally I mean totally bonkers.

He's unique. You won't find another player that excellently combines that blend of technique, poise, guile and vision with physicality and end product. We just need to get him to do it 9 out of every 10 games and for the other players to step up too.
This man is honestly the difference between us and your ordinary average team.

Right?
He is the best when he plays it simple. He knows how to shield the ball against 2 or even 3 oppo players but sometimes a simple pass is a lot better than to try to do it all on his own. Couldn't care less about his haircut.

You can dislike a player but still appreciate his quality. Let's not make this thread a personal battle between 2 camps. It's silly.

My thoughts too.

I thought he was very good last night. His best two performances this season have been when he's had the armband. Unfortunately I don't think he's the right person to be permanent captain.

Pogba didn't do anything aside from the ordinary (apart from the goals ofcourse). I've seen him play many better performances without putting anything on the stat sheet. Shame he's only credited with a top peformance after a goal or assist despite being a CM whilst other midfielders are credited for goalless/assistless performances.

 And Messi is bang average apart from the goals.

He scored two and assisted the other...not sure what else he has to do.

Had to watch this to refresh my memory:

The Fenerbahce one came to mind instantly, but I think I'd still go with the Swansea one.

Watching that kinda made me miss Zlatan a bit, too.

It is annoying and always has been. More forgivable when he plays better the rest of the time but yeah, I'd like to see him work on it still. He always better off instinct than when he slows it down, which we saw with his goal.

He is a joy to watch when he plays like that. He's stronger, quicker and more technically gifted than pretty much everyone on the pitch so when he's on song he looks a cut above.

I do agree with folk who are calling out his unnecessary shielding on the ball when he can keep the ball moving though.

We really could do with another forward player on his level. That was the idea when we got Alexis, and having the two of them at their best would elevate us so much.

This is the level we need consistently. Nobody can doubt his ability there’s just no point having it if it’s seen as sporadically as last two years.
