Then you have already set yourself up for a massive disappointment  cause you must have been expecting performances of "best players in the world" level. It ain't his fault Juventus took the club to the cleaners and he should still be judged as a young player discovering a new league and team.
Context is needed when analyzing a player's performances.

I guess I have, and I am disappointed. I hope he becomes as good as I expect him to be.

As I said I thought he was OK today, but nowhere close to great. But I guess I judge him to higher standards than some.

Given his transfer fee and profile, I expect him to make major contributions that enable the team to win. He was bought to be a match winner, much like Zidane, Iniesta, Keane or Robson were judged.

he never contributed to us winning today .... and we never won .... hence he was OK today.

If you are going to judge a CM by those standards he is doomed to fail as he never is going to make "contributions" as often as an attacking player

He was heavily involved in our goal. It's not his fault Arse scored on their only shot on goal and Marriner being a cnut

'They' really read too much into it. I too would like 100mil to get us the perfect player that drags the team to glory but alas that isn't reality. I said it in the summer and I say it again, our side desperately needed a Veratti and wingers, and this hasn't changed. That aside, the reality is that 100mil doesn't get you best player in the world in this market.
He is playing exactly like I have expected him. Step by step improvement with some moments of brilliance here and there. He played better than he did vs Liverpool or Chelsea.

He was good today. Much better than in all the previous big games he was involved in. He played a part in the goal and was much more involved in the game. He is improving overall, it is blatant. We just need to be patient. It will be worth it.

Herrera being better doesn't mean he was average. We played against a team many consider to be bettwr than us and he played well.
You say he's judged by low standards. Some expect him to be scoring screamers every game.
When last did we have a midfielder that was as creative as he's been
And i don't even think Herrera was better.

I dont think the cafe is always an objective assessment of player performances, but even if you look at the average score awarded in our player performance stats: Pogba was only awarded 6.5/10 today with Herrera, Valencia and Mata all getting higher scores. And yet this thread is full of sycophantic statements of 'how great he was' and that a 6.5/10 performance is indicative of huge progress, worthy of high praise.

And anyone who dare suggest that such a performance is actually 'just OK not great' and that I expect better for a player who cost so much 'is agenda laden'.

As I said, it seems to me that many judge Pogba to very low standards. And nothing anyone has said has changed my mind.

In my opinion, he should be delivering 8/10 on a bad day and 9/10 at least every 4th game. If thats means I'll be disappointed so so be it. I'll just add it to the many other disappointments I have with our team right now.

He was excellent today. Provided that extra touch of class today. Something which Ozil didn't.

Get a grip ffs. :lol::wenger:

Anyone that actually know Pogba will expect what he is currently doing. Only the posers are somehow upset by his performance/fee ratio.

Because from what you said, he would need to average 8+/10 throughout the entire season. Apart from Messi and sometimes Ronaldo, no one ever gets that kind of ridiculous ratings. You're just being daft. Come again tomorrow when you're feeling less disappointed.

Oh dear. Then we should never have paid that fee for him, and have been hoodwinked and misled.

No one who actually watched him will tell you that he is world class.

I'm not the only one on this board who said that he wasn't world class, that he wasn't the missing piece, that he wouldn't make our midfield dominant, that he wasn't consistent during a game and that he was grossly overpriced. IIRC in 2015, I said that he was a 45m player because while he has a great potential and he is already a good player, he is still a promises and nothing else, but people love to be youtube experts.

And I love the player.

I thought he was pretty good today. Nothing special but a good performance. He looked lively, picked out some lovely passes and his strength was key in our first goal.

Contrast him to Ozil who went completely missing throughout the game, and Sanchez who went missing after the first 20 mins or so.

He was very good today. Play his part in the midfield that bossed the game and bullied Ozil.

Mate, (unfairly) criticizing Pogba has been very fashionable of late. He had a rough start, but has been either good or very good the last couple of games, and today was no exception.

He was heavily involved in our goal with a good dribble and smart pass to Herrera, and he had a couple of other really good moments as well. His defensive game leaves much to be desired still, but we did not buy him for his defensive qualities and it has never been one of his strong suits either.
from the reactions here, one would think I am giving him way too much stick but I really thing he could do much better, he certainyl had better games for us and I think at least in the first half he was average at best, the game sort of missed him, two steps behind the play and if he had the ball he either didn't pass it or just lost the ball, not that he hadn't had his moments, I guess maybe it's a bout time to get used to him as a playerhe is, meaning he will always have his ups and downs but his moments of brilliance will make up for his lack of desire at times or focus and some selfishness..

but you know I have it with some players, just raise the bar quite high and expect to be perfect, I guess the bar was set by his transfer record quit naturally.. finally let's pt it this way, the things he did well was really nice to watch, but the things he didn't or when he failed to impress with were just things I don't like to see in a midfielder but that's also why I am little bit way too angry with that, as I thing it's just basics and can be easily worked on but I hasn't seen them.. With Pogba you just know that he can do something great with the ball but you can also expect him to lose the ball in quite a dangerous area because he tries too hard to make it on his own or just is that he's not willing put in that 10% extra effort with some touches, something that makes him look like great palyer to watch from a donkey. something liek when he things eh's got player in his pocket or gets dospossed easily because he doesn't expect a palyer to get there but it's not itally so he better used to it, the intensity is higher, by know he should have been used to it, don't save eenrgy for afterwards, just stay sharp with every touch.

And that's a bout what I wanted to say about his performance and overall feel these days

Playing too much video games does things to one's mind. Unless someone is some sort of built robot or just a player in a fifa game, no one delivers 8/10 performances as their worst and consistently put in 9/10 performances throughout an entire season.

Stick to reality please.

I disagree with quite a lot of people here, I thought he was average, again.

I think there is plenty of promising signs already, signs we already saw at Juve and for France.

He's 23. He'll be a monster at 25/26. An absolute steam train.

Played very well today. I'm excited for what our midfield can become.

At the same time, I do hope he cuts out the brainfarts over time. At times, he plays to showboat rather than produce. For example, there was this one moment where he had the simple pass into space out wide but for no apparent reason decided to hold on to the ball and try to trick the defender. He failed and lost possession. At other times, he just loses concentration completely. For example, he had an air shot in his own half which lead to Arsenal heading swiftly towards our goal. He'll need to cut out these two things if he wants to achieve the heights he can.

Yes, he has had better games, no one is denying that

But you said it yourself, the bar for him has been set quite high by his transfer fee alone, but i think it's unfair to expect him to win games on his own based on his transfer fee alone.

I think the problem is that despite him playing fairly well, he has not yet had that "match winner moment". He has scored two beauties, had a couple of assists and a couple of near assist that deserved better fates, but none of them has really been important in terms of points

Take Marital as an example. He instantly became a fan favorite by smashing Squirtle and scoring a goal in his debut against Pool (not a matchwinner mind you, but a HUGE impact none the less) while Pogba has made loads of contributions that has not really paid of in terms of points or "moments"

Thought he was pretty good. Just has to cut out some of that showboating and slowness in possession.

People have unrealistic expectations of him.

He had some good moments as he usually does but he also went missing for periods also as he usually does.

He's on a very, very good run of form. I thought he was excellent today.

I'd be more worried about our inability to kill off teams, and that's not his problem. We're playing very nice attacking football and he's orchestrating much of it.

We desperately need more from our left side, Valencia and Mata are a constant threat on the other wing but our left is doing nothing :(

Will do so much to help us kill teams off if we can get that left flank working and creating.

Our problem this season has mostly been from our attacking not being clinical enough and defensive mistakes.

Our midfield has been the strongest part of our team this season.

He's created the most chances of any of our players this season...

Martial wasn't good today and Darmian on the left obviously isn't a brilliant attacking full back, but Pogba's fine.
