I think he was pretty terrible in the first half, always tries to dribble for too long but battled well in the second half, you can say he was easily our worst midfielder today but perhaps it's because Ander is simply a different level and Carrick is the most consistent player we had over years

EDIT

in addition to that: we all know why he plays, he can make the chance for you, he will always come up with a moment of brilliance, he's a tough guy who can outmuscle people and MOurinho likes to have strength there, and mostly he's got potential...

but in my eyes he's having an easy ride here, he will be praised for the little he does right but peopl will overlook countless needless dribbles and lack of effort at times, he has a good drive but he doesn't use it, what drives me crazy is that he has long legs and for such player it should be easy to catch some passes with a better anticipation but he simply runs on his heels like a donkey too much, feels just too heavy to help out with the pressing part, again just look at Ander, he's a small guy but he always knows where to put his leg and when to stick it out even though he's second to the ball... I'd say Mata and Blind were very good at that and Rooney before five pints and most defenders naturally.. For me Pogba needs to do more defensively and play for the team more, very imbalancing player and a bit of a disappointment for me

This post is completely rubbish. Christ what game were you watching

This is how the myh about Pogba playing awful usually start around this place despite him not having a bad game.

no it's my opinion, he's having way too easy ride, rewatch the game. The opinions here are clouded as he's our Pogba and we just don't see the bad.. he's got much more to his game than he showed us today

I have no idea what game you were watching today. I criticised him heavily early in the season, but he's been very good for several games now, and today was no exception.

He needs to do more in the easier moments, and stop being so fecking lethargic whilst he's at it. The amount of times he's caught on his heels is alarming.

He makes everything he does look very easy. There are time when he skips past players, retrieves the ball or passes the ball in a way that very few people in the world can. But because he makes it look easy it's forgettable and therefore apparently he hasn't played as well as he actually did. I'm impressed by him, and he's the least of our worries.

He's having an easy ride in here? Do you genuinely believe what you write?

THE guy get called on his every mistake and some people in true kneejerk fashion have shown zero patience with him and labeling him flop or disappointing after just a few games in.

There are threads slating Pogba and even questioning his technical abilities. Some even went as far as comparing him to Fellaini.

If anything due to his price tag people have been impatient with him and want him to pull trees every game. Every single game he doesn't have a terrific time he gets called disappointing.

The negative opinions about him are extreme. For every okeish games he has, people say he's awful and go on hyperbole.

Generally mostly his decorators are itchy to stick it to him and are quick to jump in this thread to claim he's some rubbish player. The fact that lots isn't around as much lately is testament of how he's actually shut them up with his recent performances.

Saying Pogba gets an easy time around these parts and him being bad this game are very strange things to say given they couldn't be any further from the truth.

people judge him by very low standards in the desperation that he is not seen as a massive waste of money right now.

He was quite average today. Herrera was better.

I dont know what more he has to do outside scoring.

He creates chances, pushes the midfield up and is always wanting the ball. Yet because of the price tag he has to be scoring and assisting every game

No the agenda posting on here is sad.

Mate, (unfairly) criticizing Pogba has been very fashionable of late. He had a rough start, but has been either good or very good the last couple of games, and today was no exception.

He was heavily involved in our goal with a good dribble and smart pass to Herrera, and he had a couple of other really good moments as well. His defensive game leaves much to be desired still, but we did not buy him for his defensive qualities and it has never been one of his strong suits either.

The fee will always be an albatross and something mentioned every time he plays but given the hype (some self-inflicted) and that the highest fees are spend on players expected to be "the best", I can't say that he's been particularly impressive. Was decent today, with some good moments but for large portions of games, he isn't involved and looks so pedestrian, offering nothing beyond the most basic of passing.

There are many contributing factors to this - there's still the settling in, he's young and it might be down to tactics/manager instructions but judging simply by the games I'm watching, he's not doing enough or at least we are not seeing the type of player his talent/ability dictate that he should be.

Herrera being better doesn't mean he was average. We played against a team many consider to be bettwr than us and he played well.
You say he's judged by low standards. Some expect him to be scoring screamers every game.
When last did we have a midfielder that was as creative as he's been
And i don't even think Herrera was better.

Thought he was good today people expecting Zidane are going to disappointed but he's made us much more dangerous from midfield. Excellent player.

Or people just judge him without taking any transfer fee into consideration

and I find that utterly bizarre. His cost to the club is an essential part to determining his worth to the team and his performances. I don't see how it can be done any other way.

You're talking to the guy who started one of the most awful and kneejerk thread on the Caf about Pogba.

Dude got his mind set.

But it's quite ironic given he's mostly seen defending Rooney and claiming how unfairly criticised he is by the caf

Given his transfer fee and profile, I expect him to make major contributions that enable the team to win. He was bought to be a match winner, much like Zidane, Iniesta, Keane or Robson were judged.

he never contributed to us winning today .... and we never won .... hence he was OK today.

Good game today and stayed in the areas of the pitch he was meant to stay in and defended with a bit more energy. If he consistently does this he will be a very good player for us.

Then you have already set yourself up for a massive disappointment  cause you must have been expecting performances of "best players in the world" level. It ain't his fault Juventus took the club to the cleaners and he should still be judged as a young player discovering a new league and team.
Context is needed when analyzing a player's performances.

I thought he had a mixed day today. The counter attack at 1-0 where he failed to find a pass to either Rooney or Mata was a low point.

He isn't the best player in the world and his fee doesn't tell us that. It just tells us he is the most expensive transfer thus far. If Bale, Messi, Verratti, Neymar and possibly Ronaldo were to move then the record gets smashed.

Samsky this post is wrong on many levels. Firstly are you saying if we held on and won then that would change your opinion? Secondly he was involved in our goal, thirdly he played well today and finally Robson, Keane, Zidane and Inesta were not judged after 10 weeks!

My mind is set on a specific standard I expect a £90m player to perform at.

According to some, his fee should tell us much more than you described.

Good game overall. He chose the wrong option towards the end when he had two runners and could have played one of them through though
Yeah I remember this, important moment that. I would like him to release the ball a bit quicker even though he can still hold onto the ball so well but we would be more effective. That should come with even more experiance and coaching but he's playing very well in my opinion.

How the feck was that not a good game..? It's getting ridiculous reading comments about him in here. This was against a very good opponent as well. Feel sorry for all the people who cant see that he's a top class player. He's so unpredictable and difficult to stop. He has created shitloads of chances for us, and we've missed almost every single one of them.

My mind is set on a specific standard I expect a £90m player to perform at.

Could you be more specific? What do you expect from him? Did we not just dominate our oppositions midfield, and Herrera didn't do that all by himself?

He helped set up the goal with some excellent play.

In my opinion, his role is as match winner. We didn't win the game. We aren't winning enough games, nowhere close.
His performance was OK today, but he was nowhere close to even being Man Of the Match for us. So he's not performing great right now

'They' really read too much into it. I too would like 100mil to get us the perfect player that drags the team to glory but alas that isn't reality. I said it in the summer and I say it again, our side desperately needed a Veratti and wingers, and this hasn't changed. That aside, the reality is that 100mil doesn't get you best player in the world in this market.

I agree that he needs to keep improving.
