Pogba looking visibly pissed off now, with his teammates. Needs to up his game himself.

Looks an awful lot like the underwhelming France player that I was assured is not a true representation of his ability.

Needs to pull his finger out.

80 million pound ball hog.

It's a real shame he's allergic to the easy pass.

Hope to god he scores soon because he just needs to settle and do the simple things.

24 next year and no one has an idea what he actually is. Is he a holder, #10 , interior, B2B, controller or destroyer? Sort of like Wilshere to an extent.

He's not patient enough in possession. He will never be the player who controls a midfield for you @NinjaFletch the reason he struggles for France is the same reason he will struggle for us he does't have a Pirlo or Marchsiso who will control and playmaker in deep areas allowing him to play further up and wreak havoc, he doesn't know what he's doing out there.

This is why I want Carrick and Pogba with Herrera/Morgan as a trio

He's been absolutely shit. Playing the position loads of ye said would get the best out of him.

He's allowed a settling in period as an excuse. That's fine. But let's stop moaning about his position, shall we?

Except that those who argue that he should play in a more advanced role base their point on his entire career to date whereas you bring as evidence 60 min in a not particularly important game. Strange, to put it mildly.

I think the position point is valid, there are certain roles that just won't suit him. That's just the type of player he is.

That doesn't have anything to do with him being shite today though. Obviously he should get time to bed in but, given the expectations we have for him, he has an absolutely massive amount of improvement to do.

Pathetic post. You're getting joy out of him being a bit shit? feck me.

I don't want him to play bad. What I'm saying is its funny seeing the people who thought he would be amazing (and argued with me as to how he is such a brilliant player) now actually see him play a few games

So much moaning. He has been bad indeed, not sure why. But this is Paul fecking Pogba. He'll show his worth sooner or later, definitely.

Even someone like Henderson could look good alongside Marchisio and pirlo

But he was excellent for Juventus. It's not like we signed some relatively obscure player that people on here claimed they had watched and was the next big thing.

He was good on his debut but hasn't offered much since. I would hope all our fans will be getting behind him and badly hoping that he can start excelling. It seems there's some on here that are nearly wishing him to fail to prove a point. The point being, they said he's not all that, when most on here were delighted with the signing. That's a bit weird and petty to be honest.

Imagine if Rooney had turned in this performance .

This is why I'm so defensive of Rooney. He may not be the same player he once was, but he's done it at the highest level for quite a long time. Pogba and co. need to do a lot more before they reach the level Rooney did.

Especially weird when he's played...like, four games or something. If it'd been several months or half a season I'd maybe see someone's point, but it's too soon to write him or claim he's not an excellent player yet, unless a poor spell of form (which this isn't really) is enough to make you a poor player.

And he hasn't reached that highest level consistently for a few seasons now, whereas part of our signing Pogba was because he's been consistently excellent in recent years.

This makes no sense. It's true that peak Rooney was a better player than Pogba but that was years ago, Rooney is not the same, whereas Pogba is the future, at least we hope so.

I think of him as being quite like Gerrard. Can't really control or run games in midfield, not really a #10 either, will always be awkward to fit into a team but, when the set up is right, can be excellent as someone who attacks from midfield.

Aye, this place at times is crazy. It's like people care more about being right on an Internet forum than hoping for the best for the team.

The (rather obvious) point is that his poor performances for his last few games for United were blamed on his position. Tonight his performance has been identical. Just like the second half against City, where he played the same position. Join the fecking dots.

Yeah, the type of player who can drive the team forward (well, ideally), deliver in big moments, provide an impressive work ethic in midfield whilst having plenty of ability as well. Not too bad a comparison.

he is an excellent player, who has all the talent to improve further, but he isn´t and never was a top10 midfielder in the world. He might become on in the future, but people here overrated him for years.

I haven't written him off. I said he would improve and that fans would be underwhelmed at the start.

In footballing terms he is not worth 90 million. But Pogba as a brand in all as well as his footballing ability does surpass the 90 million paid

True. I'm all for criticising his poor performance and for even arguing that he hasn't made the impact he was expected to so far, but it's silly to call him overrated or not good enough after a small selection of games in a new side.

The bias regarding certain players unfortunately is very prevalent and works both ways. See the comical defences of Blind for his errors on Saturday, or the need to throw other players under the bus when someone is trying to back up a player they like, ie when Rooney performs poorly and people justify it by saying others were poor too.

I don't really get this point. Pogba is being criticised as are loads of other players of ours. Rooney certainly isn't alone.

Are you saying that Rooney should be exempt from criticism because of sentimental reasons? You alluded to the fact that he isn't good enough anymore and that's surely the main issue? Yes, he's been a brilliant player for us but those days are well and truly over. Pogba has played about 4 games and is 24!

Yeah, I think that's likely. Although he has time on his side when it comes to becoming a bit more astute.
