I actually think he's best in this role even if it doesn't fully exploit his skillset. Playing here allows him to get on the ball and get in a rhythm, he's so much better in rhythm than he is flitting in and out of the game when he plays further up.

Yeah I don't think he's all that in the more advanced role, his shooting, dribbling and through balls are all erratic, and it ends up squeezing someone more effective out wide (e.g. Mata or Mikhi).

Playing deeper is perfect and him and his attributes IF (big if) he can maintain his positioning and concentration.

Much more discipline today, which I guess he'll need to learn when playing in a 2 man midfield. He's collecting the ball and spraying it around the park. Just want to see him driving with it a bit more like he did when he first started for us. Also, that pass to Ibra was super.

He's decent today against a side we should always be beating at OT...

However, the notion of paying 90m to play him this deep, where he's decent against weak sides but will never be able to dominate against better opposition (as we've seen, many times this season), just seems ridiculous.

I know, it's not my money etc, but it just bothers me.

This is it. He may be more creative higher up the pitch but he can be creative from deeper and basically, the more time he spends on the ball the better it is for us. He can be the 'Carrick replacement' but the a creative streak and goal threat if he continues to develop the defensive discipline for the role.

Always going to be harder for him to do this now that we're only playing Herrera next to him, without the Carrick safety net behind them.

Better performance today though, definitely. And as has been the case throughout the season - even in his worse games - he'd be doing much better statistically if Ibra was anywhere near as good a finisher as people say he is. Another stunning ball over the top that Ibra couldn't put on target.

People complaining about him not being adventurous enough in his passing should remember that it is limited how adventurous you can be in a midfield 2 against a side that packs the midfield.

Still impressed by how he has adapted to a midfield 2 in the PL coming from a midfield 3 in Serie A.

Greatly helped out by Ander "perpetum mobile" Herrera though.

I love Pogba. An ever forward thinking midfielder. None of that ever sideways/backward play we see with most midfielders whenever an opponent is anywhere nearby.

Yeah I've no complaints of him today. He's done exactly what's expected of him in that position.

Are we ever going to stop talking about that damn price tag? It doesn't matter! We've already made it back from his shirt sales alone!

You didn't and you never will. It is reported that United sold the most shirts last year, 2.8 million. Let's say that number is bs and you actually sold 5 million. Clubs get up to 15 € the most for each shirt sold.
The rest is easy math.

What you've forgotten is that we get 125 mil from Chevrolet and Adidas each year. That covers the cost easily.

I like how after a bit of bad form, he's gone back to doing the simple things well. Keeps the game ticking over well from slightly deeper. Moves the ball well, and well forward as well.

I didn't forget anything because I was referring to the post I quoted, nothing more and nothing less.
I just wanted to point out that the whole "shirt sales pay for players" is bunch of nonsense even if his name was Cristiano Ronaldo. It doesn't work like that.

He frustrates me at times by not getting into spaces to receive the ball, he seems content at times just passing the ball and standing still. It is those moment I wish we had someone like Keano to direct people.

I hope people can stop with having a go at Pogba. He's a fecking great player. Another fine game from him.

Played very well today. You could see he just wanted to keep it simple and not feck up.

Hopefully though, in the summer we switch back to 4-3-3 and reap the rewards with him in a midfield three behind a defensive screen of Herrera+ Signing.

True, I think after Liverpool game he stopped trying so hard and do fancy little trick, just keep it simple and ticking

Good today and his defensive play is clearly getting better

Two games in a row for being discipline. No unnecessary dribbling and beat his men anymore. I guess Jose has probably told him to reduce it. Love it!! Very good game in my opinion, got a few clean tackles but the referees called them as foul.

I don't think he can be called a great player yet (not in the Prem definitely at Juve though). But you can see he is definitely improving rapidly with his discipline and general midfield play. For me he's never going to be a Scholes who scores a lot from midfield. I will settle for him being a dominant box to box general for the next 10 years.

I like him when hes deeper because it seems he keeps it simple which is what is sometimes needed. He had a good game, probably should have had some assists too. And unlucky not to score.

This is the position he needs to learn to play, as well be playing him there and Griezmann off of Zlatan next year

Good game again but i don't like when he plays deeper. It's frustrating. I hope that Mourinho doesn't see Pogba's future at this position

otherwise it will be one of the biggest mess in the football history

Thought he was very good today, solid defensively and kept it ticking well when in possession. I like to know that he can tone down the unnecessities in his game. We all know he can do the magical, good to see he can master the mundane as well.

Did today what we need from him. Positioned himself to collect, kept play moving, and contributed defensively. It's not his fault that Ibra couldn't finish.

I think it's just he's further back so it's harder for him to get away with it.

Best game since before the Pool match. He was in excellent form before that game and then had a mare which seemed to effect him.
This guy is only 23 he is going to keep getting better and I am still over the moon that we signed him

Against smaller teams at home, us playing a midfield two is our best bet at winning. No need to get carrick in. Greatly lessens our pace on the counter. Pogba was excellent today as a deep lying playmaker alongside Herrera as a box to box.

Of course he can play in a two and still lay on multiple chances for others as well as get in the box and score for himself in every game!

The guy is just a special player, embrace him.
