All this posts about Pogba being here long term worry me a bit. How long before them two come sniffing ? He is already causing so much sensation, I am getting worried. Sorry about the doom and gloom post:(:(
Lol. Ronaldo sale still causing nightmares for some fans. It was 8 years ago man.

Dear Redcafe,

I have something terrible and shameful to admit.

I wanted us to buy Mahrez and Kante over him in the summer.

Please forgive me for this spate of lunacy.

Sincerely,

shaggy
I argued all summer against the idea that we should buy 2 or 3 decent players instead of him. If we ever want to compete with the Madrid's, Barca, and Bayern then we need players of Pogba's quality. We don't need a mass turnover of players anymore, so quality > quantity should always be the focus. This summer we'll hear people saying we should buy 2 or 3 players instead of Griezmann,, and I'll argue the same thing again.

Still not good enough to fill Henderson's boots but he's all right. Knows some football.

Pogba is here to stay.

I think Verratti would be more ideal for both of them.

Yeah I don't see Pogba going anywhere, his game would seriously need to evolve into something truly amazing (like 40 goals a season amazing) for Madrid to even try to bother getting him from us

I am surprised how poor his shooting / finishing has been to be fair. Swear I was watching him smash in screamers every other week at Juve. Yes I know he has hit the bar a lot bit still, could definitely improve that side of his game. His free kicks are good though.

He's scored 6 goals for us and that's 7 vids of him hitting the woodwork this season. And I'm pretty sure there's more...

Seemed a mile ahead of our players today, in terms of thinking. There were a few occasions when he played great balls over the top, but it seemed our players didn't read it quick enough.

Solid enough game from Pogba tonight. Him vs Henderson next.

It's his speed of thought which is the most impressive. The more I see him the more I underrate who ever it was who's decision it ultimately was to sell him/not give him a payrise - maybe it was Fergie after all but I can't believe how a player can develop so much in a few years. Even when I saw Pogba for us before Juve I never thought he would go on to make world 11s.

Them passes tonight he did were simply unheard of for this United team over the past 5 years. I know Scholes could've executed the same passes but I genuinely don't know if he had the same mental speed to pick out said passes.

If we keep Pogba for 10 years then we will do very very well.

No chance we ever sell Pogba, as if he'd ever go Madrid after turning them down for us.

Obviously completely different players but shades of Suarez before his breakout season at Liverpool.

I remember in the season before the breakout, he kept pinging them off the woodwork.

Then, as scouse legend went at the time, Brendan Rodgers taught him how to finish.

Maybe we need to get B-Rod in to have a wee word with Paul and teach him the tricks of the trade.

Or maybe, like Suarez, he'll just continue on his natural development curve and smash in 25 goals next season.

It was always there. I argued that we should do everything to bring him through the season everyone wanted us to sign Sneijder. I'm no football expert but i said he's the heir to Scholes' throne with his passing range whilst coming through the youth teams. If i could see that then he must have been showing it.

Well, he was neither sold, nor was he denied a payrise.
So many can't grasp this still.

He left because he & SAF disagreed on his "readiness", no other reason.
Obviously we didn't sell him to make money

Fergie didn't think he was ready and Pogba did, hence why we sold him.

I'm sorry I didn't know I had to elaborate on the obvious.

He's already good enough for Madrid. The reason why he won't play for them is we won't let him go unless it's for the record fee we paid, plus give or take 50m. Not to mention the most crucial part: he has roots in Manchester.

We never sold Pogba. Pogba left. United wanted to keep Pogba, but Pogba didn't trust he would get minutes due to his last season at United.

You're laughing and still haven't understood?

We didn't sell Pogba, never have.
So united never received a fee from Juventus for Pogba?

The club sold him because we couldn't meet his demands - be it playing time or wages (the former most likely).

My original point was how I underrate whoever sold him (didn't think he deserved playing time) because he is miles above everyone his age and he is 23. I used to occasionally watch the reserves at Moss Lane and tbh I never thought Pogba would turn out like this but I don't understand why the club ultimately didn't see his potential.

Ha ha, you've lost it man

he left and we got compensation. we didn't sell him. why is that so hard to understand for you?

Fair enough, I thought we received an official fee prior to his transfer.
Either way, the club didn't see his potential (neither did I!). But do you not think it's bizarre how much he has progressed since those reserve days 5 years ago?

I think if Fergie did realise how good a player was in the reserves he would stop them flying to Turin to sign a contract

There's a few passes tonight that Scholes would have been proud of.

His passing is what has surprised me the most (obviously in a good way). He doesn't dilly dally with the ball and most of the time he's looking to move the ball forward.

I don't understand it either. He couldn't get a game here when we had a really poor midfield (Anderson, Cleverly etc starting loads of games I think) but was starting at Juventus who had a midfield of Vidal, Pirlo, Marchisio just months after signing for them.

Anyway it probably worked out for the best. Moyes and Van Gaal would have probably made him leave and never want to come back

So glad to see him playing so well. I stuck by him in the start - there were so many nay-sayers, what a waste of money, useless flair etc and each time I always thought 'patience, he'll come into his own', delighted that is happening now.

His long passes are unbelievable, seriously astonishing. He strong, pacey and nifty with his feet. He does tend to sometimes take one touch too many and fanny about a bit, but his awareness is very good. Add to all that that he seems a genuinely nice guy, religious morals and good work ethic, he's a gem.

Can you tell I like him? Another amusing thing, whenever he does something ridiculous (like the goal v swansea) it's hilarious to listen to the Arabic commentators shouting his name in jubilation: 'Pawwwgbawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, Pawgbaw, Pawgbaw, Pawgbaw!!'

Definitely. It's odd how fast he progressed once he was playing for Juve.

Ah anyway, who cares now. He's ours and will be for long time!:drool::drool:

Just rename him Paul Pogbar.

Also, I think games like this he will frustrate us, especially when we dont score early.

Hes got a sort of arrogance around him when he knows hes better than players hes up against, like the Hull players, and as he knows it, he tends to take the piss (eg holding onto the ball too long at times). It will frustrate, but then he will do the awesome stuff and we will forgive.
