Patrick Dorgu | Medical today? No. Weekend.

Udogie maybe but Kayode I disagree.

Kayode hasn’t played as much this season so naturally his fee will be lowered.

While true he was also miles better last season than Dorgu is (as a fullback). And the reason he hasnt played as much is an older right back is doing well as Fiorentina have moved up from an 8th placed finish to 6th currently. Lecce are 14th of course he would play there

Don't see him starting immediately, Amorim has been smart with how he uses youth (so far atleast). I think we'd see him getting cameos first, with Dalot/Maz still playing LWB. Any idea what languages he speaks? We don't really have any Italian speakers in the team.
Eriksen speaks Danish, Dorgu’s first language

The "good price" is always relative. Liverpool bought an established midfielder in Mac Allister for £35m, and Gravenberch that had ~100 games for AJax and Bayern under his belt for £34m. I'm hoping United would go this route.

Didn't Mac Allister have a release clause? Hardly fair a market comparison, like using Haaland to City for £65m as a barometer for all future CF deals.

Gravenberch also didn't break through at Bayern so there was a question mark on whether he was capable of being a regular for an elite club, and they ended up just moving on by recouping basically what they paid for him.

£24m / €30m seems a good bit of business here, surprised the initial fee was quite that low - I half expected United to get pushed close to £38m / €45m because that's just what United have done of late (overpay for players).

I think Bayern also got Gravenberch for free so that 34 mill was pure profit for a non playing player

I would imagine Amad, Bruno and Onana can speak Italian. Probably Hojlund too.

He also signed for Brentford which probably says a bit about the market for the player

Seems we low balled them, and it worked?

So this is what it's like to have a competent recruitment team, nice.

Hope he's ready for Palace, we can relieve Dalot from that left flank pronto

Thank God I'm here as a Dane to confirm, that yes, the Dane and Danish international new signing speaks Danish.

And while I wouldn't suggest that a Dane could understand every English player/fan from around Manchester, but you will struggle to find people under 40 in Denmark who don't speak English to an understandable degree.

This isn't a guest lecturer at Oxford. It's joining a football team. And the coach is Amorin, not Sir Alex. That makes it doable, even if he falls out the taxi on the way to carrington and hits his head violently.

There does seem to be a pattern where those not in favour of the signing quote the fee in euros and including add-ons, and those willing to give it the benefit of the doubt quoting the fee in pounds without add-ons. Funny that!

We haven’t seen those Daily Mail type articles for a while where the transfer fee (including add ons and in euros) are clubbed with the rough total salary over a 5 year period (also including all bonus elements) and the total investment is presented as 500 million. A treatment only reserved for Man United signings.

Brain-dead comment. You are literally applying the same logic we've had for the last 12 years, if a player costs 60-80 million he must be brilliant!

Except for...
Di Maria, Pogba, Sancho, AWB, Antony, Maguire, Hojlund, Onana etc

Buying young energetic players with loads of promise Is the exact thing we need to do as well as buying in the odd big signing to complement them, but we all know they are summer signings and not January.
Oi! Be nice! AWB and Maguire have been decent for us. Stupid fees maybe but not a total waste of time and money like the others you mention.

Already out injured, feck sake

We paid around £25m before add-ons
I know boss. I just prefer us to go for more established players that only cost 9-10m more. They're more polished and ready to make immediate impact.

The only faith i have with this kid purchase is apparently Amorim wants him. And that's kinda good enough for me for now.

There's no guarantee that an established played would cost 10 million more. We'll have to wait and see what Dorgu's ceiling looks like.

I think the original person who asked the question just got mixed up and thought the young player signing from Italy was Italian - which is why they asked if we had other Italian speakers.

I think everyone who knows he's Danish will guess that he can speak Danish, and that most Danish people will have various levels of competency of English.

He'll need a visa before he can train/play. Even if the transfer is formalized tomorrow, I wouldn't expect he will be able to train before Monday/Tuesday at the earliest. So expect him to be on the bench against Leicester.

But that's what good scout is for, finding these type of players. There are precedents.

And more importantly, that's what a "skint" Club need to do.

Transfer Makt has him valued at 20m, we paid 30m.
(Euros)
Transfermarkt bases their player valuations on 'market value analysis' and 'discussions with registered users'.

What they think a player is worth means absolutely nothing. We could do the same thing here on the caf and attach our own value to every player in the world. Just like TM, it would hold no real use or value to actual football clubs engaging in real player transfers.

When it comes to player value that site isn’t exactly accurate, especially for players that quickly come into the spotlight. Either way, player value is always going to be subjective based on the club selling and club buying.

£29m for Dorgu is an okay price. £25m is probably what I would guess is fair value, but the extra £4m we can accept as January tax rather than the usual Utd tax. In previous years this could easily have spiralled to £40m.
