Patrice Evra to Madrid?

Ronaldo > Messi ;)

I'm not keen on us selling anyone else, especially to that club. I think 15million is too low in addition. IF we sold him, with the player on side we can ask for what we want (within reason). It would take 25 million to buy patrice! and who are they to argue? If not? It's not a loss to us

I'm more than happy selling to Madrid, rather Madrid than Barca. Madrid came to our aid in our darkest hour.

yeah but this isn't the madrid from the 50's/60's. They're cnuts and have been for sometime.

We're not the club we were in the 50 or the sixties either yet we hold on to our heritage dearly and in that I also hold onto the heritage of those that helped us during that time. Anyway
Patrice Evra's agent insists his client with be staying with Manchester United until the summer amid rumours Real Madrid want the full-back.

It had been speculated that Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho wanted to bring the France international to Santiago Bernabeu.

United were also believed to be tracking Benfica's Fabio Coentrao as a possible replacement for Evra, but Federico Pastorelo insists his client is going nowhere at the moment.

Evra's representatives held talks with manager Sir Alex Ferguson where it was decided that he would remain at Old Trafford.

The 29-year-old former Monaco man is tied to United until the summer of 2012 and Pastorelo has revealed it will be decided this summer whether he pens new terms or moves on.
No update

"No, there is nothing really to report on Patrice (Evra)," he told Sport.co.uk.

"There has been interest, and I have read about Real Madrid but really the only official interest was from Inter Milan last summer.

"We had a long chat with Sir Alex Ferguson and it was decided he would stay in Manchester.

"His contract runs out in the summer of 2012 and there he is concentrating and focused on this season.

"We will sit down in the summer with Manchester United and decide whether he will extend his contract or move on. But for the moment there is nothing special to say on the situation."

Bit of a half assed quote that is if you ask me.

Sounds like he was swayed by Inter in the summer but a meeting with Fergie persuaded him to stay?

And there will be another meeting to discuss his future this summer.

18 months left on his contract.. its time to sign a new one
Agent trying to get some more money for his client imo.

Yep, makes me laugh how when we're linked with big names from other clubs people on here are quick enough to point out that the agent is just trying to secure a bigger contract but when our players are linked with a move away people jump to panic stations and say there's no smoke without fire.

And after listening to these reports start claiming that we should sell him anyway

I suspect with modern footballers there are a lot of 'meetings' we supporters don't get to hear about, where the player and his agent make various demands and threats.

Vidic's situation looked a lot more worrying than this from the outside and we all know how it turned out. Players are like big kids - they're fickle and they throw tantrums. Once you have a manager who has the power to make the big decisions - either way - then you'll probably win more than you lose.

I'm a bit worried we're going to lose him.

Those quotes dont fill me with confidence. Surely if he's United through and through then he'll sign a contract in the summer when we offer him one?.....

Well that does not sound promising.

Real just target a different player of ours every season, as soon as they hear their contract only has 18 - 24 months on it they unleash the rumors.

When has he said he's United through and through? In fact, has Evra ever said he wants to stay with United for the rest of his career? This is exactly why I wouldnt begrudge him a move elsewhere. His situation is different to someone like Rooney who said he wants to stay here forever only to feck the club over.

If Evra wants to leave, so be it. There would be absolutely no ill-feelings towards him from me and i'd wish him good luck.

Probably because every one they've bought from us has been brilliant for them. Beckham made them loads of money, Ruud loads of goals and Ronaldo lots of money/goals. Heinze was alright.

This would suck for me. I could almost take it if he went to Barca but why anyone would leave us to join the circus is completely beyond me. The situation at the moment is that his agent has said quite recently that Evra wants to stay and I see no reason why we wouldn't do everything in our power to keep him at the club.

it seems to be like the vidic situatuion. i dont think evra will go

He wouldn't be a bad thing if we can get decent money for him. His form this season as been pretty poor and if his heart lies elsewhere then it would explain it.

#MUFC statement: Patrice Evra has not spoken to any media about his future, club "having stories taken down" from various websites

Well done to the media, again.

From Man Utd.com

14:33 You may have read rumours surrounding a possible summer exit for Patrice Evra. Spanish website Intergoles.com claim the full-back discussed with them, in an exclusive interview, alleged interest from Real Madrid. Manchester United and the player would like to make it clear that this interview never took place and that Patrice is very happy at Manchester United.

If we can get Fabio to progress the way Rafael has done then losing Evra isn't as much of a worry.

I think he's great and an important member of our first team but in 18months time he'll be 31 (?) and surely if Fabio isn't getting forst team action by then he'll want to go. For me losing Fabio is a bigger worry than losing Evra.

Lets not forget the season where he was the most consistent player of the season, also having played in every single fixture.

Now this doesn't surprise me, but what does surprise me is that Manchestr United and Evra don't sue the shit out of them.

Told ya.

Spastics in this thread too.

He's been ok this season without being GOD quite yet, but he's due a run of form soon.

Don't see why he'd have any reason to leave, he's a big personality in our squad and he seems settled here.

I know we're all feeling a bit sceptical because of the rooney situation but you've gotta give a player a chance before you come out all snidey.

We always have the last laugh, rarely does a player go on to be as successful at another club. So far, not even ronaldo!

I just can't believe this tbh.

This. People too ready to accept nonsense stories and start preparing themselves to "move on" and saying he's been shite for a while anyway etc.

 thats just fecking disrespectful. Evra will play at the top level for at least another 4 seasons imo

A little bit early to be worrying more about Fabio than Evra. But in a season or so its very important we keep him satisfied with his game time else we'll have to spend big on a replacement for Evra when right now we've no need.

Evra will play until the end of his contract. By this time, if he is willing to not start every game like he does now I would love him to stay. Fabio is the future.

The thought of having the twins as our starting full backs makes me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside.

This post does not intend to undermine Evra. Evra is the feckin man and we all know it but he is getting on and can't be superman starting every game when we have a 20 year old Brazilian who already looks the part.
