What a fecking captain he is, that blooter made me destroy my throat but it was worth it, even if the joy lasted 2 minutes. Absolute legend, keep talking shit about him being a liability, he's shown how much he loves this club today with his goal.

He loves this club more than Wayne Rooney, if Rooney even loves it at all

I'd love it if we kept Evra as back-up. He'd be much more effective if he was rested and played 10-15 games in a season.

Won't happen of course. I just love him so much I don't want it to end. He can't go on as number 1 next season surely, he doesn't have the legs to get up and down the pitch for 60 games anymore :(

Many will disagree but he's a United legend in my eyes.

Agree, I'd love him to stay.

Completely agree. Love him, definitely a legend with all he's given us, all we've won with him as a key player. Going to be really weird seeing him, rio and Vidic all at different clubs next season :(

He made 6 tackles and 5 interceptions, far more ball recovery than any of our other players. So add all that on top of the balls Robben got past him into the box and you've got a hell of a workload that any leftback in the world would struggle with.

This is what happens when you have so little of the ball

It's always hard to define the word 'legend', but I think we can all agree that he was a fantastic buy (to think we got both him and Vidic in the same January window!) He'll be missed.

Scored a screamer, kissed the badge and then promptly retired.

Still a legend in my eyes. The best left back in the world at his peak.

Absolutely. You can't blame our defence all the time when it is not happening for us on other parts of the pitch.

Patrice Evra is a United Hero. His presence and behavior on the pitch screams passion and commitment.

Patrice Evra is A Red.

His celebration for the goal
It sucks that we lost, but that was the best moment of the season, easily. I didn't even react to their goal as I was still celebrating Evra's

Didn't watch the game, so can't comment on how he played. But very nice goal, cracking strike

was excellent first half, and unbelievable goal. Switched off and then visibly tired from 60 mins on

Yep agree should be back up choice from 2 seasons ago. Clearly age has caught up with him but still a decent player although now a weak link.

I'm most disappointed that he scored such a great goal, kissed the badge in his celebration and then just switches off. I want to love him and be sad he is going, but he is such a liability these days and it makes it hard.

My favorite player now that Scholes has retired.

But I voted for Buttner to start in the poll. He is far, far too casual at times on defense, it's inexplicable really. Against Robben it was always going to be a disaster.

Would love to see him stay and share LB duties with Shaw (hopefully), but would understand if he wanted to be a starter and left.

Hard for me to say a bad word against him, he used to be amazing on defense.

Where would he be a starter though? Would any top club be playing him as a starter given his defensive lapses? I can't really see him joining a smaller club either. Not in England anyway.

I don't think many will disagree with what you're saying.

He'd almost certainly have to take something of a step down. Agree he'd probably go abroad.

Frustrating and torture, gave us the lead with a goal he had no right to do, but then threw the game away by not being able to perfrom basic defending, what he is actually there for. He was single handed at fault for their 1st and 3rd goals.

No he wasn't.

If you're blaming soley Evra for those goals then you really are looking to scapegoat.

He was at fault, but so were others.

As predicted, he had a brain fart and cost us a goal at the most crucial moment. It's like he got drunk on champaign after his goal and was a little hungover

I think everyone shares the same sentiments regarding Evra. I liken it to the way your son behaves sometimes - he can drive you up the wall and repeatedly do things you've told him to stop doing but you can never stay angry at him for too long. The man just epitomises United so much.

We did really well up until we scored our goal. We switched off, they scored and the game just seem to get too stretched for us. You could see we started to tire and we just couldn't handle it after working so hard for an hour. I can't fault the effort of the players or the managers tactics. Moyes almost got it spot on but if we managed to keep our lead for just a bit longer, things may have been different.

I think the criticism for yesterday is a bit tough. The amount of ball that Robben got was ridiculous. It must have been very tough to track him for 90 minutes. The whole team lost their concentration after the goal not just Evra.

I can't remember feeling like that after a goal for a long time though. How many times do you see Evra shoot and it barely trickles to the keeper and he spanks it right into the top corner

Evra actually defended brilliantly against Robben for the vast majority of the game. There's not a LB on the planet that can shut him out for 90 minutes and Evra deserves huge credit for how few chances Robben created until the closing minutes, when Evra (like everyone else on our team) was knackered. When you bear in mind how mediocre wingers have given Evra the runaround at times this season it was a really monumental effort. A throwback to the Evra is god days. Gutted for him that his goal ended up meaning nothing.

So glad you mentioned this, as I posted last night, if the bar for a "shit LB performance" is set at "getting skinned by Robben a couple of times over 90 minutes" then there isn't a decent LB in the World and never has been.

In their encounters last night Evra must've come out on top 90% of the time, he made some great tackles against Robben.

Yeah... I'm gonna miss Pat. Glad to see the initial scapegoating has subsided, I'll put it down to post loss rage. Evra is deffo a legend for me...

I was still screaming my throat out from the time Evra scored all the way till Mandzukic scoring. When Mandzukic scored it actually took about 5 or more seconds for me to even register what happened. God that had to be the best 22 seconds of the last 4 seasons easily

The goal reminded me of that ridiculous RVP goal years ago against Charlton. Then the defence decided it was game over and stood still.

Best 20 seconds ever.

Of course he cares about defending ffs. Did you only start watching at the point he scored?

Such a bizarre thing to label at him, he did so much great defensive work in that game.

Could've done better on the first for sure, I'm not blaming him at all for the 2nd as the ball goes through his legs and Vidic is the one who must do better there. Getting skinned once in 90 minutes by Robben is pretty impressive.

If you wanted to be pedantic, I think he could've done better on the 2nd goal. Once the ball was switched to Robben, Evra wasn't exactly in a rush to close him down despite Robben being well inside the area.

Not scapegoating - we played it well tactically but let's be honest Bayern are on a different level at the moment.

Fair post.

That was one of the best performances I've seen from him this season. Regarding their first goal, I think there has to be some leniency when you consider how difficult it would be to beat Mandzukic in the air being a giraffe's neck shorter. Other than that, him and Kagawa did a brilliant job out wide.

I'm currently in Italy and was watching Sky Sporta Italia and they were clearly discussing Juve's potential team this year. They had Morata up front with a ? next to his name and Evra in at left back with a ? next to his name. Are there rumours going round? Obviously I couldn't understand what was being said…

Sidenote: Vidal was in there without a question mark :(
